Part of me wants to say that it was during the 2004-05, perhaps sometime in early 2005 on the backend of the season. I know Abram was out much of that year and Horton was out for a protracted stretch as well, I believe. I just can't remember which game specifically, but I remember it happening at some point.

Gotcha. Was likely the same time frame as Wohl's stardom given the amount of injuries.

Fun fact re: Wohl. I was playing in a men's rec bball league that didn't allow former DI college players and Wohl suited up for the team we played in the championship. He got to the rim at will and tore us up (still couldn't shoot though). We didn't rat him out when we lost in a close one, but I said something to him afterwards and he was shocked I knew who he was. Was a cool guy. Cool story over.

They aren't even on the roster so I listed their positions as 6 on my starting lineup tracker and jersey numbers database.

6 = The 6th Man.

along the lines of "so it's come to this." But for some reason, Google found this instead, and I realized "Oh crap, I've been doing this wrong."

I used to help out my college's team when I was a student. They needed a big body to challenge their 6'9" 250lb All-Conference center, and their biggest, healthy roster player was 6'4" 180. It was actually pretty fun. I got to scrimmage in practice, but only had to do punishment running if I wanted to. The biggest adjustment for me was the added length in the college court compared to the HS courts. Running from post to post and then bodying up a big man in the post is very taxing. I had more respect for the conditioning of college big men after that. I'd go back and do it every year if I was allowed. It was tiring, but it was a million times better than running on a treadmill all winter to stay semi-fit.

1. This is very cool, and a characteristically classy move by Coach B.

2. Is it possible that the kids could get to keep the jerseys? I have no idea how uniforms are doled out at the college level (only in H.S.) So maybe it's common for a player to keep his jersey at the end of the season - I don't know.

But if I were a freshman manager who had his name on the jersey he wore when he suited up for UM on Senior Day 2015 ... yeah, I'd do pretty much anything to keep it.

Anyone remember Ryan DeKuiper, who was the team manager at the time, coming off the bench in a blowout vs Indiana at home circa 96-97 hitting a 3 pointer? Random thought, and not certain it was vs Indiana.

With the way this season has gone, these guys might get 20 minutes each. Seriously though, good on coach B and good luck to these two. I'm sure it will be an amazing experience.
