Taylor Lewan

Submitted by TomVH on

It is official, he's not taking his official. At least not this weekend. I just spoke with Taylor's Dad, and they will be rescheduling their visit because of Taylor's playoff game on Friday. Taylor is excited to see Michigan, and his Dad, Dave, was pleased with all the comments about his son on MgoBlog. I will keep you all updated on when they decide to take the visit.

I will have a full article for you to read tomorrow with Craig Roh and Taylor Lewan as well, so stay tuned for that.

Just checking the visitors for this weekend. GBW has Tate, Hadley, and Jackson. Any unofficial visitors? And just wanted to know if UM has a legitimate shot at landing Donavan Tate?

This kid's a stud. Mr. Lewan, if you're reading this, I think your son would be a fantastic fit in Maize and Blue. Great football, great education, the whole kit-n-kaboodle. Pull the trigger, sir.

Well, proof that recruits and parents do read Michigan blogs and forums. We should be respectful toward these kids and never bash a kid, even if he doesn't chose Michigan, de-commits, or whatever goes down. Taylor, we'd love to have you at Michigan as we are in the process of rebuilding our O-Line after years of poor development; we need more athletic kids like you. Plus you'll get the finest education out there.

I agree. It is never cool to get pissed at a kid for choosing a certain school. They clearly believe that the school they choose is the best fit for them and that is where they want to go (unless your name is Jeremy Finch, then you are just confused).

Imagine if during your senior year of HS you had a bunch of professors calling and texting you, trying to convince you to decide between their schools. Then, when you finally believe that a school is a good fit, you hear people bitch and moan about how terrible a decision that was and how you are dumb and will amount to nothing in life.

I will wait to hate upon a kid until we see him in action against us or for our rival. Until then, these guys are just high school kids.

Hadley, Jackson, and Tate each have playoff games this weekend and that's why they can't come in for official visits. Like Brian, I expect that Hadley and Jackson will stay down south, with Jackson being the one more likely to come to UM. I also sincerely doubt Donovan Tate will come to Michigan. Even if he did, I think he'd pull a Drew Henson and go pro in baseball before his career was done.

If D. Tate didn't go pro in baseball this year. He's projected to be a top 10 pick, and I don't know very many people who would turn down the 6 million dollar signing bonus that comes with that so they can go risk injury playing college ball.

Unless of course, he gets picked lower in the draft and his agent can't work him the deal he wants and he goes to college to try and get redrafted later for a better contract, sort of like what Porcello was threatening to do.

Yeah, some guys just prefer one sport over another. Charlie Ward could have made a lot more money playing football than he did playing basketball, but basketball was what he wanted to do.

For the most part I agree with you, but there's more to it than the money to a lot of people.
