SB Sweeps Tourney
The Softball Team completed the sweep of the Easton Bama Bash Tourney this weekend by defeating James Madison University in a 10-0 mercy-rule blow out.
Megan was the complete-game winning pitcher. She only allowed 1 hit, with 3 BB and 6 Ks.
The offensive game ball goes to Romo, who hit a grand slam in the 2nd inning. She finished the game 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored and 5 RBIs. Lindsay also went deep and long and finished 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs. Kelly went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs. Abby went 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored.
This weekend certainly put much confidence in the team by defeating Bama twice, on their home field. Coach Hutch has put together a winning formula. One of the key changes recently is Romo to 2B and Abby to SS.
The pitching has been lights out as well. Great job ladies.

MGoSoftball's total devotion to first names is just bizarre.

I hope you weren't following along with the official basketball twitter today or you're probably confused about the new players with the last names of SPIK3 and AUBR3Y.

Jayce pitched a great game in his first start, Eric drove in a run, but Brett gave up a 2-run homer in relief and Michigan lost to Davidson, 3-2.
Seriously, though; let's treat the players with the respect that they have earned.

Romo's grand slam gives her sole possession of the Michigan career record in that category, with 8. She justs needs one more to tie the NCAA record of 9 (currently held by Francesca Enea of Florida and Christi Orgeron of La.-Lafayette). With almost half of her career remaining to do it in, she may well take that record home with her.

As South Bend Wolverine mentioned, Romero is now the career record holder for grand slams. She was tied with Sam Findlay before today. Michigan is now 77-2 all-time when hitting a grand slam.
In addition to picking up their 500th all-time road victory yesterday at Alabama, their mugging of James Madison today gave them their 500th all-time neutral site victory with a 500-191-3 record.
Good stuff. Second straight early season tournament victory. This team just keeps rolling.
Next weekend, they head out to Tempe to face Arizona State twice in their tournament and will also play Toledo twice and Binghamton once.
Michigan ended ASU's season last year, for the second consecutive season. It came in the memorable Tempe Regional where Michigan came back and beat the host ASU twice on Sunday with Lyndsey Doyle robbing ASU of a walkoff winner.

It must have been so exciting. I did watch gametracker, but that is hardly worth it. I hope more will get televised somehow before the Big 10 season starts. The SEC network(and maybe the Big 12, I think) requires a subscription. Please post if you know of an option. Bloo-hoo!
