I don't know if I'd go as far as to say I won't cheer for him, but there's definitely a feeling he didn't exactly put the team first in his time here. From his lackluster blocking, to seemingly lack of focus this last year (e.g. drops, short arming catches, more bad blocking), to his early exit, his career isn't exactly one I would hold up as an example of a model Michigan student athlete.

Yup. I thought prior to the season that Funchess was going to dominate every defender he went against, but alas, that did not happen. I remember when he came out with the number one jersey and then he killed it against App State, I was like oh hell yeah this dude is gonna kill it. NOPE. Joke was on us. Such a disappointment.

The love fest for Funchess during the App State game was a little over the top, I thought, considering who the opponent was. But I don't think any of us ever imagined how little he would do the rest of the season.

I was excited during the 2012 Air Force game when Funches pretty much made his debut and people in the stadium kept asking, "who is that guy?" I suspected big things from him in the future.

I think this is more to do with the former coaching staff.  How on earth can they see this and simply not call a one-on one fade route at least 5 times a game.......

Now the few times they actually tried it, the timing just seemed to be way off between DG and DF, but I would put that back on the coaching staff to run the play over and over again until they got it right......

Dear M_Born_Believer:

Agreed.  Hard to believe the former coaching staff had talent like his at their disposal and either didnt see it or couldnt find a way to properly use it.  What a waste.

Sincerely,

Thomas Rawls

PS: I'm sorry I wont be able to respond again to you again after this comment.  My flight to the NFL combine leaves in an hour.

and Mike Hart guarantees it.

Braylon Edwards is dropping hints about it and he won't stop talking about it.

...lol those two and Lewan/Funchess are probably the least liked in the last 20 years.

Then you have Will Campbell, Ryan Mundy, Todd Howard, Kyle Kalis, and maybe Chad Henne who were disliked by some who felt they didn't progress or live up to the hype until late in the careers (if at all). Blake Countess is starting to trend towards this group, a bunch of people are very down on him right now (play wise), and are vocal about it. Frank Clark always teetered with it as well.
