UM vs OSU - The Rivalry
After listening to WTKA this morning and hearing the story of Bo's passing, I had an urge to watch this documentary. If you have an extra hour today, I beg you to watch this. Football can't come soon enough. Harbaugh is going to bring us back. Believe it.

Go on.

That is everything.
February 10th, 2015 at 11:45 AM ^
those are only words with concecutive osu's, unlike cocksucker.
February 10th, 2015 at 11:47 AM ^
It doesn't bother me if they are dispersed among the other letters in a word, but I have removed all of these words from my spoken vocabulary forever.
February 10th, 2015 at 12:13 PM ^
But how will you live without being able to use the word "thiosulfate" anymore, that is like removing "and", "if", or "the" from your vocabulary. Good luck sir.
February 10th, 2015 at 12:22 PM ^
Instead I just say "sulfate ion with one oxygen replaced by a sulfur". Then when the person says, "Don't you mean thio***lfate", I say "you said it . . . not me".
February 10th, 2015 at 11:50 AM ^
C0cksucker. I did it with just the s and the u by using a good ole zero.

This is bad and you should feel bad.

I do feel bad. I honestly don't know what I was thinking. What's done is done though.
February 10th, 2015 at 8:55 PM ^
SUperiOr. Just saying. And highly likely, if our cheerleaders carried flags on the field with OSU instead of OHIO, that might be the order the letters come out.

February 10th, 2015 at 11:37 AM ^
I have a strong disdain for this OSU that you have mentioned.
February 10th, 2015 at 11:44 AM ^
Is it me, but i thought the dcoumentary was from OSU's point of view. Otherwise very solid
February 10th, 2015 at 12:05 PM ^
I'm still a little pissed that one of the best documentaries on Michigan football had a decided OSU lean and the possibly the best game I ever watched was the 2006 game that OSU won.
February 10th, 2015 at 11:46 AM ^
The rivalry would be better if we won more than two games every 14 years.
February 10th, 2015 at 11:58 AM ^
Just wait for it. I have great confidence this will be changing very soon .
February 10th, 2015 at 11:59 AM ^
and if you ask osu fans, at least the majority of them, the 'rivalry' is just fine the way it is. Most of the jackasses claim they aren't nervous about JH coming to Michigan....that urban MF'er meyer isn't scared and they couldn't give a rats ass who UM's coach is.
And that's bullshit. They damn well better be nervous. The state of this rivalry is about to change. Despite the years since 2006 of less-than-acceptable player development (that we're normally used to), Hoke still kept the game somewhat competitive even during years that most of us knew down deep that we didn't have a chance in hell winning. 2013 is a perfect example. Even this year in Columbus, UM played an okay game.
When UM gets the player development it needs AND the excitement of The Game hits them, no longer will UM be forced to get blood from the stone its been squeezing over the couple years. The talent and the potential will be realized and the quality of play will be gushing from the seams of this program.
osu says they aren't scared. They damn well better start.
February 10th, 2015 at 12:08 PM ^
I thought Tressel tried to keep the 2009 game close so RichRod would stay around a bit longer. And I thought Urban did the same thing so he could kick around Hoke for a few more years. It's probably unlikely, but that's the only way I could comprehend those close games.
February 10th, 2015 at 12:13 PM ^
but I think this past year, osu needed to prove a point because at the end of the season and before the B1G title game, they were on the outside looking into the Final Four.
February 10th, 2015 at 9:08 PM ^
While I would love for it to be true, I agree that this year if we could have been more convincing we would have. And last year if he was trying to keep it close to keep Hoke around he did too good of a job. I think Meyer has a little Cooper in him when it comes to Michigan and he coaches and the team plays a little too tight.
February 10th, 2015 at 12:12 PM ^
There's a big part of me that really wants them to roll into AA this coming November undefeated and ranked #1 in the country riding a nice, fat 20+ game win streak. You know, just like in 1969.
That way when we win we'll replant the flag Bo planted back in the day.
February 10th, 2015 at 2:27 PM ^
With Michigan also undefeated and ranked #2.
A man can dream.
February 10th, 2015 at 12:27 PM ^
This. Urban Meyer can coach. I'll give him that. But he simply isn't Jim Harbaugh. He won some recruiting battles this first round thanks to a National Championship and Jim circumstantially behind the 8-ball. Some will call me crazy based on Urban's record, but this is simply what I believe: Meyer is a great Xs and Os coach. No question about it. But Jim Harbaugh has lived and breathed football in a way with which Urban Meyer is simply not familiar. Maybe I'm wrong about Urban, but he comes off to me as the sleazy salesman, willing to say what he has to say to get them to sign on the line which is dotted, after which time he doesn't give a damn what happens to you (and I, as I'm sure have many others, perceived this loooooong before Mike Weber). He cares about his trophy case first and foremost, and players are simply means to that end.
Jim Harbaugh is a molder of men, plain and simple. And it will show soon enough. Maybe not as soon as we'd like, because Jim is just not in the same starting position as Urban is. And he'll also have his homegrown talent advantage and the evidently all-important Nike uniformz to help stem the tide. But it will turn soon enough. And the ones down there who aren't ignorant, they know it. Ohio State hasn't faced a Michigan coach who hates them as much as they hate him, and can back it up, in a hell of a long time. The era of the Gentleman Carr, the Outsider Rich, and the Overmatched Hoke is finished. Mark it down.
February 10th, 2015 at 12:33 PM ^
You think Urbs is sleazy? Can't imagine why you would have come to that conclusion, aside from the Weber deal and the 25 signees a year and the leave of absence and and stuff like that. I suspect I am missing a lot in this brief summary.
February 10th, 2015 at 2:02 PM ^
49ers locker room and saying goodbye to his former team, gave a playful middle finger to Carlos Hyde before he left. And he told some of his ex-teammates way before officially announcing the prodigal son would return to Ann Arbor, time to kick some Buckeye ass.
All I remember is the guarantee and a bomb to Kolesar as tributes to our current coach when it comes to facing the Buckeyes and maybe a thoughtful quote of the day that sent our rivals into a knee-jerk frenzy. This guy knows this rivalry and what it takes to win.
February 10th, 2015 at 12:20 PM ^

That's what they said during the John Cooper years.
February 10th, 2015 at 12:21 PM ^
Urb had the perfect storm his first three years - unbelievably easy schedule, inherited Tressel's recruits, Hoke was our coach. His perfect storm is officially over, and he knows it.
February 10th, 2015 at 2:09 PM ^
Well, for what it's worth, he didn't win anything until all his own recruits started playing.
February 10th, 2015 at 12:22 PM ^
There is nothing better than The Game. Period. End of story.
Go Blue!
February 10th, 2015 at 12:24 PM ^
It will be nice when the rival swings back our way, it's been a long time. This is what it must have felt gor them in the late 80s into the 2000s.
February 10th, 2015 at 9:22 PM ^
Cooper's teams were good. They were talented and won a lot of games, except Michigan and to an extent the bowl games. From a rivalry POV I think it was worse because those were games we should have won. Much of the last 10 years, your teams were not very good, at least by Michigan standards so while many OSU fans enjoy the general misery of Michigan fans after losses to teams like App State and Utah, I know at least for me I would rather we play an undefeated Michigan and be the ones to ruin your near perfect season.
February 10th, 2015 at 12:25 PM ^
I love the part(51:40 mark) when it shows Bo at Michigan Stadium for the final time.
February 10th, 2015 at 12:45 PM ^
Believe it or not, in terms of time allotted to each team, it's about as even as you can possibly get.
I've heard from numerous Michigan fans that the documentary favors OSU, but I've heard from just as many OSU fans that the documentary favors Michigan. Fact is, it's right down the middle.
If there is one thing I think that should be changed, it would be the length. I think that topic probably deserves two hours, not just one hour. Then again, I'm sure there are those who would claim that's too long.
GO BLUE!
February 10th, 2015 at 1:03 PM ^
Well, OSU fans are going to say that because they're OSU fans, anything that isn't 100% focused on OSU, and all positively, is biased against them. Not saying we don't have our own blind homers, but I found it to be much more widespread during my time there. I personally think the documentary is just fine. But the one angle I can see having Michigan fans feeling otherwise is that it seems to talk more about Woody than Bo, and then it talks about Earle Bruce, Cooper (albeit not in a flattering light, but there wasn't much else to say), then Tressel, including his National Championship. Scarcely any mention of Carr. It was, "Cooper lost to Michigan a lot, Tressel beat them". Lloyd was apparently not much of a player in either. So, I can see how it might look to some fans like it was at least told, not with OSU bias, but certainly from more of an Ohio State perspective.
February 10th, 2015 at 2:15 PM ^
Frankly, with that brief an amount of time to devote to the documentary, it could well be a choice of picking between Yost and Lloyd. We reveled in Lloyd's perfect season/national championship, but from a historial perspective, Yost had four perfect seasons in a row. That's not something that happens too frequently.
