Sunday night drinking thread.....
Family is beat after spending the last few days on the slopes. My lovely wife and I are headed for the hot tub.
Thank you for all the great reading over the past few months.
Go Blue!

Thanks, dick. I'm currently at work grinding through a soul-sucking round of technical document edits, and I'll probably be doing the same thing tomorrow despite being mostly alone at work due to the impending snowstorm.
February 8th, 2015 at 8:10 PM ^
We just found out that the kids have another snow day tomorrow. I *should* be drinking.
February 8th, 2015 at 8:17 PM ^
Do you live in Connecticut? Because fuck this place.
February 8th, 2015 at 8:44 PM ^
NH. People say the "quality of life" is good here. They obviously didn't just hear the plow go by--again--and have to face a huge mound of snow at the bottom of the driveway.

(going on year seven in MN after transfer from San Diego.)
February 8th, 2015 at 9:39 PM ^
I'm a MN native, so at least I'm used to this. I know a guy who grew up in LA and ended up living in Duluth--don't know how one makes that adjustment.

Not to diminish your snow day, but, I just love others who have the pleasure of experiencing such things as we on the West Coast of Lake Michigan have enjoyed for that last couple years. Your snow day just brings a smile to my face knowing that we are not the only sorry sucks who have to deal with this!

MI born and raised. Lived in Cali, TN, Wilmington, NC. Their seasons, or lack thereof, are terrible. I hated having to drive 3 hours to Tahoe to see snow. Though golfing in shorts in Feb was nice.
It's winter. I love this. Sipping scotch by the fireplace, snowmobiling until 2am, sledding, ice skating...
Though a plow/snow blower/salt spreader make life easier.

Work hard and play hard has always been our motto. These moments make it all worth it and I am enjoying every second.
Next week I will be back to being a grouchy prick at work.
February 8th, 2015 at 8:28 PM ^
Pop open a beer. I'm doing literature review for an article that will hopefully make it into a scientific journal, and I'm enjoying an Avery IPA.

I'm actually in the building, and alcohol in the building is now a fireable offense, and given the number of cameras outside the building and teetotalers inside, I'd rather not gamble. Maybe at my next job...which I'll hopefully hear back about in a week.

wee bit of jealousy. Had a stiff Bulleit Rye manhattan whilst tending the grill earlier. Just a great bargain whisky.
February 8th, 2015 at 8:12 PM ^
A nice big bottle of ice-cold water.
February 8th, 2015 at 8:12 PM ^
I have a bottle of Shorts Dr. Zeus IPA

Was just in steamboat last week. Hope you get snow so you can do the chutes, otherwise shadows and closet were not in bad shape.

The snow e mail update said 2 feet in February so far but it is more like a foot at best.
This is the worst we have seen the snow in the last 6 or 8 years since we have started heading this way for the Winter Carnival.
February 8th, 2015 at 9:21 PM ^
It has actually rained two or three times this year in Steamboat. The entire west has been blazing hot all winter long. California, Oregon, and Washington in particular have been suffering through crazy high snow levels.

Central Waters Bourbon Barrel Reserve. Tasty schtuff. I can't believe I'm currently doing this but I'm watching the "award", popularity, bullshit show but have to say AC-DC tore it up as the opening act.
February 8th, 2015 at 8:17 PM ^
V8 juice... got sick last night.
I'm waiting for(9pm) ESPN's "30 for 30" Of Miracles and Men. It's about Miracle on Ice from the Russian perspective.

Local restaurant (Draft House in DeWitt, MI) had Hopslam on tap so had one of those and a Shorts Space Rock APA. Both delicious with a blue gill sandwich special. Very nice spot if you are ever in the wasteland that is mid-Michigan.

February 8th, 2015 at 8:29 PM ^
Stupid "because I'm happier" just won a Grammy . I plug my ears when I hear that shit played at a wedding

Sitting at home, wishing the weekend was longer, drinking a delicious Fresh Squeezed IPA from Deschutes. Also wishing it was distributed here so it wasn't such a pain in the ass to get a hold of...
February 8th, 2015 at 8:43 PM ^
Agreed. I had a friend pick me up a few packs of Daisy Cutter when he went to the hockey game yesterday

I'm sitting on Waikiki Beach thinking about what I want to drink next.

I guessing something in the Rum family....

I'm sitting at a desk working on taxes thinking about what I want to drink next.
February 8th, 2015 at 8:51 PM ^
an hour ago, hence the beer.
February 8th, 2015 at 9:11 PM ^
Going to any other beaches? Waikiki is fun but super busy.
February 8th, 2015 at 9:27 PM ^
I enjoyed the beaches in Kauai more than I enjoyed Waikiki. It was way too crowded there.
February 8th, 2015 at 9:34 PM ^
I hear Kauai is great. The waves on the north shore of Oahu are incredible in the winter - something to see.

Went with a Kona Brewing Fire Rock. $10 six pack that's going down easy. Anyone have recommendations for Honolulu?
February 8th, 2015 at 9:52 PM ^
I would say try out Sandy Beach as a different beach. Also highly recommend snorkeling at Hanauma Bay!
February 8th, 2015 at 10:41 PM ^
Definitely snorkel at Hanauma Bay. You owe it to yourself to visit Pearl Harbor as well.
February 8th, 2015 at 8:43 PM ^
Got a bottle of Goose Island Sofie. One of my favorite beers. Ever.

after taking 5 of the kids skating at the outdoor rink where we live. 3 on 3 hockey with lights and boards on a rink that is at least regulation size. perfect night to play. barn chores done.
you all have a great week and go blue.

This new Kanye single is positively boring. No wonder he had to call in a Beatle.
February 8th, 2015 at 9:21 PM ^
Are you talking about Only One? It's a beautiful song - as in the lyrics are absolutely beautiful, and it's composed well. If someone like Coldplay were to do it, we would be talking about how amazing it ia

I'm sure the lyrics are great. Yet the song itself doesn't go anywhere. Just like a lot of Coldplay songs, actually. A total snoozefest from end to end.
Kanye is cool and all, but sometimes a song doesn't fit an artist's strengths--and this is a good example of that.
February 8th, 2015 at 9:35 PM ^
He needs to focus on his strengths for sure... Which isn't singing.
