A Reminder That Should Not Be Needed - DO NOT Attack Recruits
Judging by people's reactions to this thread, I feel like I should clarify a couple things:
1) I believe that Michigan fans are by and large less moronic than other fans (I'm a relatively recent convert and, from my experience, we have one of the better fan bases).
2) This isn't about wanting Weber. I think he's a fine athlete, but I am very happy with Higdon...especially after reading MichiganMan14's wonderful post.
3) Weber's Mom is probably overreacting, though at the same time this is her kid and no parent wants their kid attacked -- online or otherwise.
Let me preface this by saying that this critique is not directed toward MGoBlog users. During my time on this Board, I have gotten the distinct impression that the people who post here are by and large intelligent, reasonable fans.
That said, just like any other fan base, we have our complete MORANS. Don't let this be you!
The upshot of the article is that Michigan fans have been attacking Weber, leading his mother to have a very negative opinion of the Michigan fanbase. If the LOI wasn't the final blow to the chances of Weber wearing the Maize and Blue, then everything that seems to have happened since then was.
DO NOT ATTACK 17 AND 18 YEAR OLD KIDS!!!!

For connecting with people you actually know, absolutely.
For following high school kids you want to go to your preferred college, or for stalking college kids who play a sport you like to watch, absolutely not.
Unfortunately, too many people think social media is for the latter than the former. And that's why, in a sports context, it's pretty much the worst.

That's why I'm not that bothered by her comments. Every fanbase has their idiots, and if she is going to judge one as large as Michigan's based on a couple of anonymous jackwagons, then I'm just like, "Eh, that's her problem."
Before someone says something, NO I am not condoning anonymously tweeting horrible things at people on the internet. I am just saying that if she wants Weber to avoid an opportunity like Michigan just because of some stupid ass fans, that's her loss and especially her kid's loss.

The more I hear about Weber, the more I'm glad he ended up at OSU. Seems like a headache.

Agree as to both. THE TEAM, THE TEAM, THE TEAM. It seems like our 2015 kids believe in that credo and, for that matter, so do the rest of the kids currently on the team.
February 8th, 2015 at 3:48 PM ^
This surely has nothing to do with post hoc rationalizations and sour grapes...the problem is 100% with the 17 year old kid who didn't make the biggest choice of his life in a time frame that suited your needs. Those kids are screwed up, and you folks are righteous.
Of course, all those guys who committed to other schools before flipping to M are just making sound decisions. Nothing headachy about them, amirite???

I never thought Weber would come back to UM even with Harbaugh hired. Urban n co already had established relationships with him. If you're gonna commit somewhere, then commit and call it a day (See every other high profile recruit). No hard feelings outside of the trolls that every fanbase has.
Next we hear it was cuz of Higdon, then we hear his RB coach leaves, next his HS coach goes off on a stupid rant about Urbz n co, and somewhere in there Weber removes #buckeyenation or some shit on his Twitter inviting even more senseless drama.
Now we have both OSU and UM fans blowing up this stupid story of something that is just business in the world of college football for their own interests.
This Weber situation is a headache; the Roquan Smith situation is a headache. Pick a school based on coaches, institution and fans not just 1 of the 3. Learn the game and call it a day.
I'm not being righteous. There is certainly a segment of the fanbase that feels high and mighty. Just peep the 2 other threads about this below regarding Smith and Weber.
I'm just tired of this stupid story. Good luck to Weber. I have no feelings for Clark, so idk why someone would feel that way about him. Kid was having fun with the recruiting game. I personally thought Jay Harbaugh looked pathetic writing Clark letters (while spelling Adidas wrong) and cleaning up his school's cafeteria tables... like cmon.
If this is the amount of attention that Weber gets/brings on himself for things that are just a part of the trade for college football just 2 fucking days after NSD, how will he deal with shit during the ACTUAL season? Good luck.

Yes, so glad MichiganMan14 posted the story of the Higdon recruiment/commitment!
What a contrast to Mike Weber! I'm sure Weber will at some point go off and have a great game against Michigan - although he probably won't be a buckeye when that happens. But I'll be forever grateful that we got a Man like Karan not an immature youngster like Weber. And his mom is showing everybody where his lack of judgement and maturity comes from!

to himself and lay off the Tweets.
Who was the audience for the I'm hurt as hell I ain't gone lie Tweet?
I enjoyed it as a Michigan fan, but should he decide to stay at OSU, he's disparaged Urbz' recruiting.
And if he decides to go elsewhere, other coaches will know that he's disparaged both Urbz' and Harbaugh's recruiting publically. While I'm sure someone will overlook that for a Top 100 recruit, by itself it sure doesn't help him.
This is just constructive criticism.

So his mom is pissed that Michigan fanatics are being douchy, when her son signed on to play for a guy who flat out misled him...talk about focusing your attention in the wrong freaking place.

that those negative commenters are not the best Michigan supporters and very few relative to the numbers that make up Michigan Fandom. Good luck to the Webers but please do not think most of us agree with the crap some folks post on the internet.

well, since Kalis isn't her child, I'm sure she wouldn't care less. So as long as we are marginally better than OSU, we're good?

I'm going for almost ALL ways; not too much good comes from the social media, there's always going to be some jackoff who hates his job, his life, depends on Michigan Sports to feel good about things and goes off the deep end when a commit goes elsewhere...

Twitter has huge strengths for sports. It really is the best sports bar in America. It is far and away your best option for explaining the game and connecting with people who know the game.
The only problem is when people tweet high sschool kids.

Recruiting services have really damaged college sports. 20 years ago, no one would have heard of Mike Weber, Chris Clark, or Torrance Gibson until they saw playing time. Now we have people paying for subscriptions so they can better stalk high school kids.

Recruiting is cruelty, and you cannot refine it; and those brought recruiting into our country deserve all the curses and maledictions a people can pour on it.

One of the bosses set her Diet Coke on a server, gestured a bit overexcitedly and knocked it over. We had to shut the office for two days while we waited for repairs, and even though it was a union shop no one got paid because it was deemed to be an "Act of God".

You'd think this would be something that would be preaching to the choir, but the comments I've read on here from some people about Weber have been embarrassing, to say the least.

Every fan base has their morons/trolls. No matter where he goes, Mrs. Weber, he will get attacked. Social media has that power and that is completely unfortunate.
