OT: Mayweather agrees to fight Pacquiao!

it is more likely that Pacquiao agreed to the terms so easily. Mayweather (although I do like him) is notorious for claiming an unreasonable amount of the purse. Pacquiao probably just said "Fuck it, let's do this." Should be a good fight. I am a little worried Money is a bit past his prime, but it isn't like Pacquiao is undefeated or anything.

I did not see Mayweather Jr's last fight but I hear he was impressive. I did get to see Pacquiao fight Cotto and Hatton and they were so rediculously one sided fights it almost seemed unfair. He just beat Hatton down and then completely changed his style for Cotto , the bigger fighter, and just cut him up with surgical like precision. With all that being said I still think Mayweather has the advantage at 147 but it will definitely be a great fight. I bet Jerry Jones is chomping at the bit right now to get that fight at the new stadium. Could you imagine that fight on that 60 yard hd screen? That would be rediculous because they would draw 40 to 50 thousand for the fight easily. I don't think there is a place in Vegas big enough to hold a fight with this magnitude.

actually, and Mayweather has. I have heard that Mayweather wants the fight in March and Pacquiao wants May. Before the Cotto fight, I would have said Mayweather, but shit, this one is a toss up at this point.

but my money's on Mayweather. This may be the first time Manny's going to face a guy who's quicker than he is. Mayweather's listed as an inch taller —5'-7 1/2"— than Manny. Mayweather also has a decided reach advantage over Manny, 72" to 67". When you combine lightning quickness, good punching power, and a significant reach advantage for Mayweather, Manny's going to be fighting a bit uphill. Regardless, I can't wait for it to happen.

Pacquaio is now. Mayweather is yesterday. Despite the age difference of only one year, Mayweather has been "living the life" while Pacquaio has been fighting quality opponents. If Mayweather's "on/off switch" malfunctions, this has the potential to be another Leonard vs Duran, with Mayweather being the fighter who wants "no mas." Fighting at 147 could be enough of an advantage to pull Mayweather through, but a weight advantage does no good if you can't connect and the other guy has target practice. Ultimately, I think Mayweather is picking one star to many to dance with. When a fighter retires, it is because he has lost his appitite for the sport. His comeback fight was "impressive" to many, but I don't think he is still the Mayweather of his prime, nor do I think he can recover that mentality. In other sports, you can get away with that. In boxing, where the other guy is trying to knock you senseless, it is a lot harder to pull off. I see Pacquaio as much more motivated, and that could turn this into a very one-sided fight. Still, it's compelling enough that I will pay to watch it.

I think Pacman will win this judging from seeing his past 2 fights. It'll be close but Mayweather will be surprised by the smaller man's speed and power.

Pacman is too fast and unorthodox for Mayweather. Defense doesn't work so well when you can't read the punches coming.

Pac's been on tv more lately and it seems people forget Floyd's greatness. I will admit, I absolutely hated Mayweather for years due to his antics but you have to give the respect to a guy that good, that fast, that complete as a fighter. Pac is a good fighter, a very good fighter but Mayweather is as close to the GOAT as you can get. Mayweather in 12 rather uneventful rounds earning a boring 7 point decision. Best wishes all.

This will be another "Fight of the century" that will soon be forgotten like the last 5 big fights. Boxing is dead. Sorry. And MMA would be more interesting if promoters could arrange fights and not just the UFC. Dana's ego has stopped us from seeing great match ups.
