Hello: Zach Gentry
He added an 85-yarder two minutes later.
Michigan just pulled in their second commit of the night, and it's a big one. Four-star NM QB Zach Gentry decided to flip from his prior Texas commitment at halftime of tonight's Wisconsin game, per multiple outlets. Gentry is the eighth commit in the class, joining Alex Malzone—who's already enrolled—among 2015 quarterbacks.

And then some.

I would rather not see it after January.
Let's get a new one where he's wearing a different hat, and it is michigan players dumping the Gatorade.
Please?

Thrilled that you decided to Go Blue and glad you'll be here to contribute to the New Harbaughera. Think it'll be unforgettable.

I like Malzone, but I like competition for the QB spot. I don't ever want to go through the Bellomy Nebraska game or Morris Minnesota game again.
January 24th, 2015 at 10:43 PM ^
Summed up what was wrong with Hoke. Can you in a million years imagine Jim Harbaugh putting any quarterback on the field who was as unprepared as Bellomy/Nebraska or Morris/Minnesota?
January 24th, 2015 at 10:46 PM ^
No freaking way.

Exactly
January 25th, 2015 at 12:59 AM ^
That's a trick question - no QB who plays for Jim Harbaugh would ever be that unprepared in the first place.

all yo commits belong to us

+1 (on mobile)
I hate the "snake oil" term. We are real.

This class will shape up quickly. The NFL difference will attract big talent quickly. I can't wait to see what he does with the whole season of recruiting. Go Blue!!!

Congrats Zach! You made a great choice.

This is great news, hope that he and Malzone work together well and it's nice to get another QB on board.
Fantastic news.

Just watched his video and loved how he repeatedly threw the ball over the coverage, something DG just couldn't do.
I've always been an advocate for Morris, Malzone looks like he has great touch and I like Gentrys size. Perhaps what I love the most is if any one of them sucks it up HARBAUGH is going to move down the line.
I don't like the thought of having a freshman QB but if you think about it that's all we have. A senior and a junior with a handful of starts between the two and even fewer TD's, I'd say that spots wide open! If one of the FR get it I'd expect to see at least one QB transfer next year. I can't see Morris staying if Gentry or Malzone get it.

I just love the fact that somewhere along the way Harbaugh saw something he liked in this kid, somehow picked him out of an enormous crowd and set his sights on him. Once he had him locked in he went down there and closed the deal. Coffee is for closers.

That's not how it works. Gentry contacted UM and indicated his interest once JH was hired.

With that piccolo shot is he now officially the Pied Piper?

Clearly Rivals is the best, and most accurate, recruiting service.

FWIW, the Albuquerque newspaper said that Gentry is the most sought-after prep quarterback in New Mexico history. I'm not sure who No. 2 would be.

Jim Everett graduated from Eldorado hs in 1980. He played for Purdue and later for Los Angeles Rams

Everett was gritty

Bobby Newcombe was a big time recruit who went to Nebraska as a QB (was #40 if I remember correctly) but was beat out by Eric Crouch. Also Landry Jones was a big recruit out of Artesia when he went to Oklahoma. Only big name QBs I can think of though.
January 25th, 2015 at 4:29 AM ^
Yeah, Gentry and Jones are similarly rated. And that wasn't more than 10 years ago.
January 24th, 2015 at 11:25 PM ^
Qb competition should be good.
January 24th, 2015 at 11:38 PM ^
Here's hoping that this animates more of the NM alumni base to come out for game watch parties.

Like having Paul Jokisch at quarterback, except faster.

Great to have a recruit that has huge upside, and can bring strength to a weak part of the offense. GO BLUE!
