Jim Harbaugh was quoted on Mike and Mike in the Morning this week saying that “You never get a second chance to make a great first impression. I’m going into this not watching a lot of tape of the current team, I want to make our own evaluation. And have everybody have a clean slate and a fresh start.

Because of the fact Harbaugh made this comment in regard to a clean slate, I decided to post high school pictures of the three quarterbacks who will be vying for the starting job this Spring. In the eyes of Jim Harbaugh everyone is a new recruit and This is the “earn your wings” statement you would expect from a coach like Jim Harbaugh, who will undoubtedly create an intense competition for every position on the roster. But in football there is one position that reigns over the rest and that is the Quarterback position. This is the area I believe will be the most challenging in 2015 and this is the exact challenge I expect Jim Harbaugh to take on by himself.

So what intangibles will a Jim Harbaugh quarterback need to possess?

I found a video of Jim Harbaugh hosting a coaches clinic during his time at San Diego University that answers this question and though most of what he says in this video is obvious, it clearly spells out what he expects from the position. I will list the intangibles he mentions in order and you can click each intangible as it is linked to the video of Jim Harbaugh speaking about each one.

1. (Attitude) “Whatever it takes I must win”. 

2. (Pushes hard) “someone who accepts being pushed”.

3. (Accepts constructive criticism)”Someone who accepts being corrected”.

4. (Practice with intensity) “Players who will practice with intensity and technique to improve performance”.

I agree and have been saying it all along.  Jim Harbaugh has three very good QB's to work with.  At least one will prove that he has what it takes to be "the guy" at Michigan.  Nothing that happened under Nussmeier and Hoke has any relevance or relationship to anyone's true talent level.  

Most of all, it will be the head coach making the decisions and not the AD.  That will make an incredible difference.  It's all going in the right direction now.

This is my prediction as well. I also think Harbaugh and the other coaches will be clever enough and not too stubborn to call plays that will take advantage of whatever strengths that the QB has to offer. Morris looked decent as a true freshman in the bowl game when plays were called that they knew he could handle. I think the running game is going to move forward this season and possibly be pretty decent so I don't think they will be looking to get a Heisman performance from the QB position in year one.

Speight has all the intangibles that you want in a quarterback, his ceiling looks very high. He already has the size of an NFL quarterback, and as we all know, "you can't teach size." Excited to see him develop over the years. With that said, I'm 100% confident in Harbaugh and will be completely behind whatever decision he makes at quarterback.

Speight is 6 foot 6 inches. The only other quarterback that is that tall in the NFL is Joe Flacco. There are five other quarterbacks that are 6 foot 5 inches, Black Bortles, Cam Newton, Phillip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger and Peyton Manning. Everyone else is between 6' 4" and 6' 2" except for Drew Brees who is 6 ft even and Russell Wilson who is 5'11".  If anything Wilton is too tall, but hopefully this will not turn out to be a negative.

I'm jumping on the Speight bandwagon.  He even kind of looks like Jim Harbaugh.  Shane just doesn't seem to have the X factor that great QBs have.  Brady had it.  Henne had it.  Denard had it (in a different way).  Gardner had it (although 2 years of swiss cheese OL play caused him to lose it).

... where Harbaugh picks the biggest dude from the crowd to throw a punch at him.  He then makes fun of the big dude's technique and "BAM" I'm Jim Harbaugh and I could totally kick your ass with my Wolverine punch.  BAM!
