Drevno to coach OL as well EDIT

Submitted by jbibiza on

As per his twitter profile Tim Drevno will be OC and OL coach.

EDIT: He changed back to his old profile (as noted below). Still likely true but maybe prematurely announced.

I don't know that this counts as confirmation, but this was my assumption. It's established that Harbaugh will be the play-caller. I suspect that makes Dresno an OL coach with a fancy title, a few extra responsibilities, and added latitude for sharing opinions.

I also wouldn't be surprised, on this line of thinking, to see DJ Durkin share the DC title and spend part of his time coaching STs, as he already has a reputation of being excellent at that.

I wonder if Harbaugh to Michigan has been in the works for 12 months now. Ty Isaac was sent last year, so he would be eligible to play for Harbaugh's first year in town. Drevno probably agreed to this a year ago.

Hackett was already working in the AD with a "special assignment" under Brandon. Maybe this was something Brandon had in the works. And Brady Hoke was brought in simply as a stopgap before Harbaugh became available. This would make sense, because Hoke was a Carr guy, and the group of Bo guys had no problem sabotaging him and throwing him under the bus.

So Drevno run game coordinator/ol coach, Marrow TE coach, Morton WR coach, Wheatley RB coach, Harbaugh QB coach, Mattison DC/LB coach, Durkin DC, a DB coach, DL coach, strength coach, and another LB coach.

It could be he is a primay OL coach that wanted a title to show promotion and during game day he is an understudy with Jim calling plays.  Pure speculation here.
