OT: Suh suspended for Wild Card Game
I didn't see this on here yet so I thought I would share.
It did look very intentional so I'm not surprised. He may have played his last game as a Lion yesterday.

Why are so many of the Lions idiots?
December 29th, 2014 at 3:01 PM ^
Is it just a coincidence that both of these guys (Raiola and Suh) are both from Nebraska as well?
December 29th, 2014 at 3:12 PM ^
Incognito as well!
December 29th, 2014 at 3:20 PM ^
Ahh just like their coach Bo Pelini
December 29th, 2014 at 5:25 PM ^
He only directly coached one of those guys (Suh) for 2 years. Ahh?

I too agree that it was probably intentional. That said, is there a rule against walking backwards in the NFL, even if you know someone is there? What about a running back that knows he can't avoid someone on the ground and intentionally steps on that person? Or someone who adds their body weight to a pile? These are all on the same level in my mind and, while questionable, probably don't warrant a suspension.
December 29th, 2014 at 4:55 PM ^
He wasn't suspended for walking backwards.
December 29th, 2014 at 5:04 PM ^
Intentional? Yes.
Worth a flag? Maybe.
Meriting a suspension? No fucking way.
The guy is a putz who continually makes stupid decisions, but that was not even in the realm of suspendable actions. It was about as minimal as an intentional wrong can be in the game of football.

It was 50/50 whether the first step was intentional.
But when it was followed by the 2nd step, then he lifted his other foot to put his full weight on Rodger's leg, all doubt was removed.
December 29th, 2014 at 2:59 PM ^
This is not surprising.
I'm too distracted by Harbaugh-mania to care.
December 29th, 2014 at 3:15 PM ^
Suh's play has been so good on the field this year, but that was just flat out stupid. I can't even defend him. Especially, after the Lions center was suspended just the week before for a similar act. Suh probably just played his last game in a Lions uniform as well. Cowboys will probably run wild on Detroit now. Oh well, I still riding the Harbaugh wave of happiness and will be for the forseeable future.

I'm glad he got suspended. He's a spectacular player, but he's just an idiot.
December 29th, 2014 at 3:06 PM ^
Might be officially done with this fucking team.
*Probably should take that with a grain of salt being that I've said that at least once a year in the last 20.

His track record made the decision easier. Remember, he was voted by NFL players as the dirtiest player in the league for a reason.
December 29th, 2014 at 3:07 PM ^
This suspension is 90% Suh's reputation and 10% what actually happened. Unless Suh has eyes in the back of his head he could not possibly have known who/what he was standing on.

He knew exactly what he was doing. Watch it again.

Just beat your Lions on one leg and is 10-2 against them in his career.

We can take that season out of it totally. He's still 7-2 against them. And they got smoked by the Packers backup QB once.

It would be nice to tone down the sexism.

He was pushed into him, but the second step looked intentional. He didn't bother to look down. When you feel something under your foot on the field there's a pretty good chance it's a player. Not good for their playoff hopes.

What do you think Suh thought he was stepping on? A fallen branch in the middle of an NFL field? Is it not obvious that if you step on something you would assume it is another player?
December 29th, 2014 at 9:23 PM ^
You will know you are stepping on something animate - what else is laying out there on the field? 100% stupid.

You just underscored why the suspension is BS. Tell me how Suh knows that he's standing on Rodgers' leg again? He's walking backward (also being pushed that way by the Packers' O-Line) and looking forward. That's quite a trick if he can intentionally step on Rodgers' leg while doing that.

Why is The Shield (TM) determined to crap in Michiganders' stockings this holiday season? Did you see the officiating in Green Bay?!?
December 29th, 2014 at 4:10 PM ^
I'm a Green Bay fan, but have several friends who are Detroit fans, and they all seem to think Detroit got hosed by officiating yesterday. As a Green Bay fan, I feel like I must be biased since I didn't think they were that bad. One terrible call was overturning the 2 point conversion. I'll be the first to admit that there is no way they should have overturned that. But even if they don't overturn it, Detroit still needed a miracle to just tie the game. I wouldn't say it was a great officiating job by any means, but I don't think it was bad and cost the Lions the game. I thought Green Bay was the better team that deserved to win, and that nothing the refs did changed the final result of the game.
One other thing I could see is that on the punt return for a TD, people wanted holding calls. But I saw plays on other kick returns where I thought they let similar things go in the Lions favor. Refs can't see every call. They miss calls every game. I just have a hard time seeing how Lion's fans can say the refs are the only reason Green Bay won yesterday. And I'm probably really biased when it comes to that, because in my mind nothing will ever be worse than Green Bay getting screwed out of a win in Seattle with the replacement refs. So I'd just like to hear a Lion's fan perspective on yesterday, and why you're convinced the Lions should have won that game if it wasn't for the refs giving the game to Green Bay.
Regardless, both teams are in the playoffs, and it's either you win the Super Bowl, or you failed on the season. If you're the best team, you can beat anybody anywhere, and both teams still have their chance to do that!

There was a block in the back on the Punt return TD which was five yards from the returner, the intentional grounding call and the 2 point conversion overturn. That's an arguable 11 point swing right there (though it obviously would've changed the outcome of the game and the 2 point never would have happened).
Home teams get home calls. This is a pretty well-proven effect. Additionally, historically prominent teams get more of a benefit of the doubt in big games. The Lions almost certainly got screwed yesterday, but probably not any more so than any other team would have in their situation.

There were actually two blocks in the back on the punt return...but who's counting.

Not as bad as Raiola, but he knew he was about to step on him and lifted his whole weight back onto Rodgers' leg. Cumong man. Be smarter.
