I hate when people use "got your attention" or "you read it, didnt you?" to defend statements that are in question. it just seems a little silly. the statement that got the persons attention probably still sucks. justifing it simply because someone read it doesnt make it any better. its hard to know if something is stupid before you read it. and once you have already read it, it is too late to not read it. so the next logical step for the reader to take is to comment on the stupidity of the original statement.
