[Denard out for season with sprained foot]

Submitted by MgoBlueprint on

Denard will miss the rest of 2014 with a mid foot injury.
This hurts my fantasy team. I drafted denard late (again). He blew up for me. Luckily I'm in a keeper league.

Here's to a speedy recovery.

Mod edit: Changed the title and here's a link. JGB.

I mean, everybody was saying this same stuff last year about 2013 vs. 2014. Maybe we could just drop the silly superstition and stop blaming things on years. Not to mention the absurd confirmation bias that allows us to avoid the fact that 2013 and 2014 were the most successful years the basketball program has had in a generation.

The football program has badly disappointed all but one of the last seven years. At least, the superstition should broaden somehow to account for all of that. But probably it should just go away.

Could end well with a solid coaching hire and the basketball team figuring things out.  That would be a really great way to shove it up the backend of 2014.

Not to be that guy but your title should probably be changed to: "Denard out for year with foot sprain."  Slightly more informative than "Dammit to hell."

Mostly kidding around, but change that title.

I doubt that WD took any pleasure in seeing an athletic director who had turned the athletic department into a circus get fired, even if he was partially responsible for the straw that broke the camel's back. I'm pretty sure most Michigan fans would have preferred that the Brandon era didn't turn out to be an epic a train wreck.

Kudos for holding off until your fantasy football playoffs.  You almost made it to 2015 unscatched.

If it makes you feel better, he would've gone up against the Ravens D in Baltimore this weekend.  Might not have mattered anyway.

Yeah, I mean I got married this year, and have now started a family, and the Giants won their third of five World Series titles.  There is simply no way I could have handled this year in my twenties.

Well that sucks.  Time to change my fantasy football name away from the it's Denard theme for the playoffs then.  He hadn't been in my starting lineup for the past couple weeks, but he was still on my team and was a big part of me turning my season around to make the playoffs.  Hope it's not too serious and that they're just shelving him to avoid further aggravation for next year's sake.

That's a shame - hopefully, he has a full and speedy recovery and we get to see him as Jacksonville's starting RB next season.

It really was great to see him come into his own as an RB in the league after being allowed by the team to focus just on that this season. His future in the league really does look bright, and as someone mentioned, hearing how well he was doing really did help make football in Ann Arbor more bearable.

Somewhere, someplace, in the pantheon of the sporting gods, they are all sitting around and laughing their asses off as they inflict more and more misery upon Michigan athletics.

We must offer a sacrifice to the gods in hopes of appeasing them and ending this curse. I nominate Dave Brandon.

I wonder if this is an injury that occurred within the last few days or if it had flared up a while ago. If Denard were trying to play through it the last couple weeks, maybe the talking heads calling his three consecutive big performances a fluke would shut the hell up.

Get well soon Denard! There might be a silver lining in this. His team isn't that great and I think he has done enough to convince people he has a future in the league as a 12-15 carry back and if he can pass block and catch a ball he could be like Terry Metcalf or Daryn Sproles - a super quick pass catching speed running back. May he have a long and fulfilling career.
