Un-Official prediction thread for OSU

Submitted by wolverine1987 on

I'll start, and I'll say right off that I hope others can respond to this with reasons that contradict my pessimism for the game. While IMO almost every non Brandon Graham match-up in this game favors OSU, some resoundingly (cough, LB's, cough), I'm basing my prediction on an intangible. I think that many of the non-seniors have mentally checked out on the season, with a lethal combination of non-confidence and "season is done" mindset. I'm struck by the many senior comments this week regarding the younger guys, to the effect of "we need to up the intensity and teach them the meaning of this game," which has been said often in interviews. That and the evidence from the last few games, of course.

This team is young, and youth is another word for immaturity. The immature often disappoint us in the way they respond to events, and that is one explanation IME (talent on defense being the obvious culprit) for what has occurred this season. We can have hope that they mature and develop, but I think that is a "next year" happening. I would love to be wrong and hate typing this, but OSU 31, M 10.

I have Michigan 31, Ohio State 27, so I am glad to see that someone else is on board with my gut. We'll need a lot of what you saw from Colorado last night (except for the losing part): some big plays on special teams, enough stops of an ineffective opposing offense, and a lot of good f-luck with regards to maybe a gift turnover or a big strip by Brandon Graham.

I don't know if this will happen, but I want to believe.

Sadly, I think we will make Pryor look like an All American because his only tough decisions will be which of his three wide open receivers to throw it to. The home field and playing for a bowl make it closer than the past few, but our D just plain stinks.

Michigan 30-27. Ohio State miscues keep Michigan close, 40ish yarder by Jason O puts it into the extra session. Tressel goes all Tressel and settles for a field goal in overtime. "2nd and 9 - Stonum in motion- Forcier takes - Quick screen to Stonum, he's got room and a Junior Hemingway block - , he's at the ten, he's at the five, touchdown Meeeechigan." No extra point necessary boys and girls. Completely irrelevant bowl game here we come!!!

38-35 Michigan. I have no hope that our defense will hold these guys under 30, but I think that the offense rises to the challenge, RR pulls out some new plays and we win a close one.

Other predictions for tomorrow that I am fairly certain will come true:

1. On at least three occasions, I will get yelled at by my wife for screaming "f*cking sh*t, can't we f*ing we cover anyone" in front of my three year old son (I am averaging getting yelled at for this anywhere between 2 and 5 times per game);

2. Tressel will wear a nerdy-looking sweater vest; and

3. Pryor will be a jerk-off

If Sweater Vest decides to play Tressellball he will keep us in the game and we will have the ball late in the 4th quarter with a chance to win. I won't tell you who wins though, you'll have to watch the game to find out.

On the other hand if Tressell decides to loosen things up because he already won the conference and Pryor needs the practice, etc. then only a career day from Brandon Graham can save us. Unofficial prediction in this scenario is M 17-OSU 41.

Let's hope that Tressell plays it close to the vest.

Go Blue!!!!

OSU 45
Michigan 13

I have visions of our defense getting scorched time and time again. I can't see us holding them under 30 points. Offensively, I think that we'll play like we did against PSU, hence the low score. I really, really hope I'm wrong though.

Michigan 20, OSU 17. Zoltan finally summons his imperial space fleet and they hack Tressel's headset. Strange alien experiements are performed on Boren and his resultant moobs are too large to fit inside the shoulder pads so he doesn't play. Graham and Roh are beamed with images that show them exactly how the next OSU play will unfold. Our receivers are granted super gravitational powers and cannot drop the ball. An invisible forcier field protects...well I forget. Anyway, we are going to earn a W from this one. And Tressel will come down with alien pox afterwards and he will stream enormous quantities of pus. Ah yes, there will be Tressel pus.

Brandon Graham invokes the ancient right of single combat. The remainder of the Michigan squad and 100k+ screaming fans experience elation which becomes horror and finally pity as BG slays one Buckeye after another. The final challenger, an auxiliary punter, is spared and bade travel the roads of the Big Ten, a broken man and a warning to all.

Tressel is taken captive, only to be released after a month when it becomes clear that Buckeye nation can offer only keystone light and second-hand auto parts as ransom.

I have tried to stay rationale and all that throughout the season and I am tired of it. With no justification whatsoever I say UM-41-OSU-31. I just think that the seniors are going to have the youngsters ready to go, and with nothing to lose they finally have that game we have been waiting for them to have. The one where they put it all together and look lke we all thought they could. GO BLUE!

I am seeing an OSU victory. Probably by three touchdowns. Pryor has been inconsistent. Howeva, the remedy for this seems to be getting to play the UM defense. The D will not be able to stop Pryor, and without Brandon Minor....well yikes. This is all a recipe for disaster that will not turn out well. The offense does not play consistent enough and UM would probably have to score at least 45 to win, which I don't see happening.

We will win. Somehow. We'll inexplicably raise our level of play and beat a team that is clearly better than us. This will be to the football program what the Duke game was to the basketball program a year ago.

Here is the history of the UM OSU game on November 21:
1953 W 20-0
1959 W 23-14
1964 W 10-0@
1970 L 9-20@
1981 L 9-14
1987 L 20-23
1992 T 13-13@
1998 L 16-31@

So, from this we can gather that in these games Michigan is 2-2 on November 21 in A2. In these games we have averaged 18 ppg, Ohio State averaged 17 in these games. However, we cannot ignore the lastest trend. We haven't won a game on November 21 since 1964, and have not won a game in the Big House on November 21 since 1959. The question we should be asking ourselves is not whether the offense will perform, or if our defense can stop any offense in the country. The real question is whether we can somehow withstand the trends of history and defeat the invisible objects against us. Since RR has done a great job of ending many trends in traditions at the University of Michigan - bowl streak, undefeated against the MAC, etc. etc. - I have no doubt in my mind that he will conquer this trend and lead us to a 36-31 victory against the hated Buckeyes.

42-20 tUOS

In over 30 years watching Michigan vs. tUOS games... there have been only 2 in which I felt that Michigan has no shot to win. These past two. I hope I am wrong, but there are no factual signs that this year will be much different than last year.

During a Standoff near Monroe, home of General Custer, Maurice makes HIS LAST stand. During standoff Michigan State Troopers sharp shooters are called off of their post on the Luxury Suites and flown via UM Medivac Helicopter to the scene. They also bring the drug sniffing dogs Rich Rod had planned for them in Ann Arbor as pay back. Boren is found in a fetal position on the bus floor covered in his own piss and feces. Pryor goes out in a hail of bullets, screaming everyone kills everyone, which MSP angry at budget cuts perceive as a threat.

Large bales of dope are found in the equipment bags, along with an Andre Agassi Meth Lab in the luggage compartment. Large Bags full of Alumni MOney is found as well. Entire team federally indicted, and incarcerated in Sanillac, MI.

NO Game UM wins. Which incidentally is fortunate since we only had about 2 hours free time to play the game since we practiced so much this week. UM would have had to stop playing at Half Time.

On Sunday, TV Analyst describe in detail how Michigan Law Enforcement Robbed OSU. NCAA refuses to investigate OSU. Instead, responding to a Detroit Free Press littering report on campus, NCAA investigates UM.

PS The Bags of Alumni Money disappear.....All Laid Off Troopers reinstated over night.

My predictions suck, but...
If anyone is in yelling distance during pre-game warm ups, please yell at Tressel when he is standing on the M at the 50 yd line soaking it all in like owns the place. That really pisses me off. I won't be there tomorrow to tell him to get the fu** off the M, like I normally do.
