Losing hurts, but losing like this hurts even more

I don't care about the record books to the point were its crushed me that these streaks ended. Its the way they ended thats really been depressing as a Michigan fan. I mean I get that we have alot of young, inexperienced talent on this roster but even our offense has been able to put up some points in a few of these games. What happened to this defense?? Whats up with the motivation for most of these guys game to game & am I wrong by saying that we might have won another 2 or 3 games if they had showed up? I have to say I see enough talent on here that I HAVE to blame the coaching now that enough games have passed.

I mean c'mon, Purdue basically just put 50 on us. WHAT??! The offense showed up and thats what we got from our veterans? I just don't get it. Maybe for some of you it happened way before todays game but today wasn't just the low point of the season for me, it was the low of all time for me as a michigan football fan. I just didn't want to see it end like this. I figured after all we lost last year and with all the drastic changes that we might have a horrible year before this season ever even started. I was prepared for alot of losses. I just wasn't prepared to see this. I really hope this way of losing isn't something i have to get used to because losing is not acceptable to watch when players don't leave it all on the field. When everyone doesn't give 100%. I feel bad for some of these kids out there who are really doing everything they can when so many right next to them aren't. Maybe I just need some perspective but I seriously think i've heard it all and I am really starting to think for the first time that the hire was a mistake. Not that Rich Rodriguez is a bad coach, but a bad coach for us. I really hope I am wrong.

In a lot of ways this year feels like some sort of exorcism. Everyone is flat out broke down, rambling, and overly accusative. And I mean that from the fan's, coaches, media, and players perspectives. There are certain players who are not on par however. And NO amount of coaching will change that. Some of these players, of all nationalities, have shown bad learned habits that they are not changing. It's been an awkward dating process. Rich and staff have been made to feel like some guy who is trying to date your mom and the kids are all confused and bitching. Not only does Rich deserve a break, so does McGee, Smith, AND YES SHAFER. Ask anyone who coaches football about the hell they get week to week from parents who know everything. I'm tired of Michigan fans overly fixating on just ONE place for all the blame and anger. It's never one thing or one person or one offensive formation. NEVER. It's kind of sad to think that of 110,000 people in those stands, of all the haters that inhabit the place. I just looked up the right and theres a post on MGOBOARD here entitled,"Texas should fire Muschamp." What a joke. Maybe it's because Michigan has been bogged down in a 50 month like recession and Michigan football is their only escape. Who knows, who cares. I hear your words EZMIKE but give it time. You at least phrased your concern in the form of a question. But give it time. I at first thought like you but now see this all as good medicine for all of Michigan Football.

Speaking of rambling...

"Ask anyone who coaches football about the hell they get week to week from parents who know everything."

As the son of a long-time head football coach, I can tell you all that this is a great point. Everyone thinks they know the secret to football. (And everyone thinks their kid is good enough to start but that is another story...)

Whatever the cause of this horrible season may be, two things I'm sure of. One, it's not ALL on the coaches. Two, the "exorcism" (as put by mth822) will lead to good things.

I agree that this season sucks rocks. But trust in history. RR has turned things around everywhere he has been. He will make Michigan into a winner within the next two seasons, bet on it.

I feel the same way, ezmikep. This was one of the more disappointing losses I can remember. I think RRod will be good. I am not concerned with our offense (in the future), but I am very worried about Schafer. I am afraid he will have to go at season's end.

all i no is our offense did good for once and our defense didnt even show up. our defense was really good at the beginning of the year and they just suck. our linbackers cant make plays in space and are DBs play horrible. the defensive staff better get this fixed fast or otherwise CYA.

Hey guys, I am a Bucks fan and I have to say that although your team is struggling this year, most OSU fans believe RR will get it together sooner rather than later. I must admit, though, that a lack of any real improvement is a little curious, but a whole host of factors play into these situations and this year could have been the perfect storm for your program.

It will get better next year, but not much. No single recruiting class can upgrade a team drastically because although the talent level is improved, asking freshman to be a difference maker (let alone several of them to be so) would be asking too much, IMO. Especially considering the positions you are needing the biggest improvements on the offensive side of the ball(O-line and QB)

Hey, we all want tressel to fire the "Offensive coordinator" and to turn over playcalling because he is wasting talent, at least you guys know that improvement will eventually happen with a talent upgrade. With us, that is not the case, we have great talent already and are a worse offense than you guys by a mile. As for your defense, well, talent will help that side more immediately.

I do think it is odd that RR couldn't find a way to take the talent he has an beat some of these teams, and he has failed to some extent, but he will get it turned around. So as the kids say, chilax
