Can I be the head coach at Michigan...
— Chad Johnson (@ochocinco) December 2, 2014
Well as of now he's the only "candidate" that's overtly expressed interest... wonder if that headhunting firm has him on the radar and what the Vegas odds are?

I believe he also said he wanted to be a judge on "The Voice."

Don't kill the messenger, but Schiano has overtly expressed interest in UM's vacancy...and NE's I believe...and I'm sure there will be others if he doesn't get either of those.

I hope that Hackett is smarter than this. There is nothing about Schiano that I see as more redeeming than any other coach out there. He may be a defensive mind (and is available immediately), but his 68-67 record over ELEVEN seasons at Rutgers doesn't scream elite. In those 11 seasons, only once did he finish the season in the top 25. The season by season record comparisons seem to be pretty erratic, too. There seems to be no indication that he could have made Rutgers rise above mediocrity, which is where Michigan currently is.
Maybe I'm just tired of hearing all of these "re-tread" names being thrown around. Either bring someone in who has proven excellence or consistent progression to merit a shot.

Yeah, people bold enough to poke at the rigidity of cultural norms should be disqualified.

I have a feeling that "Ochocinco" is much more of a celebration of ones own ego and perceived "greatness" than to "poke at the rigidity of cultural norms." I'm surprised his tweet wasn't in the third person...

there was nothing profound or even more than surface deep about his name change, the guy has always been an annoying egomaniac, the worst was when we ended up with him and T.O. on the same team, two big egos who weren't willing to put forth the effort necessary to achieve greatness (TO had given up at this point).
Aside from that if he were trying to raise cultural awareness you'd think he would spell "Ochenta y cinco" right.

his name has more vowels than Bo's, so that is a good sign.

An even better sign!

But the ideal candidate is not Chad Ochocinco. The ideal candidate is none other than Tshimanga Biakabutuka.
The most letters and the most syllables. Plus he knows how to beat Ohio State. Let's make this happen.

Actually I think Mike Shanahan has previously expressed interest in the job. I think I'd prefer Ochocinco.

Not as HC, but if he has any eligibility left, he'd be instant upgrade at the WR position.
And his unfettered, unrestricted endzone celebrations ought to be epic.

And, in college worth a 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.

If everyone else says no and all that is left is Ron English and Greg Schiano, then yes Chad - you can coach Michigan.
December 3rd, 2014 at 12:51 PM ^
Pros:
- Is Chad Ochocinco
- Knows an NFL offense
- Recruits will like him
- Tom Brady factor, yo
- Can kick field goals
Cons:
- May not know the first thing about coaching

Pros
-Wants to coach Michigan
-Wants to be bilingual
Cons
-Can't do those things

Although he would be endorsed by Chris Webber, I'm sure...you can't have enough TO's at Michigan.
Too soon?

Granted, the Sporting News put out mock odds, but I thought that the field - and there would perhaps be no better example of "field" than Chad Ochocinco - was something like 12 to 1. I suppose that if you bet the field conservatively - say, $20 - and we hire Chad, you can potentially come away with enough to have a catered bash as you witness, for example, the Michigan / OSU rivalry take a very ...unique.... direction.
That being said, I am pretty sure Chad has wanted to be a lot of things over the last few years, but this is definitely breaking new ground for him.
