I just have a feeling

Submitted by brewandbluesaturdays on

Maybe I am being homer and letting my emotions play into this a little too much but, after the Illinois loss, I was having a difficult time finding another victory on the schedule before this weeks game against the suckeyes. I know I might sound dumb considering we should have been able to beat Purdue, but for some reason I just felt it wasn't going to happen until now.
Now, I am a storybook kind of guy and believe (for the most part), in happy endings. After my dream last night I just had to write about it and share it with you all. I believe that this week will be the week where the program rights the ship.
The past 2 seasons minus the ND victory (which feels so long ago) have been the most trying seasons any Michigan fans or teams should have to endure. I am assuming you all feel as I do in that, this is Michigan, 3-9 followed by a potential 5-7 are utterly and completely not acceptable. (These records BTW, IMO are okay with the situation and roster at hand.)
Rich Rodriguez (hate him or love him), has endured as much bad Karma and unfair treatment then any coach I can remember off the top of my head. I think this Saturday will be the day where he finally gains that acceptance from the fan base and the majority of the media (excluding the FREEP because they blow anyways).
In my dream last night we played an instant classic coming down to the wire. The team was playing in its most collectively well played game we've seen in the past 2 years. Late in the fourth quarter Minor plows one in to put us up for good. In waning moments of the game as OSU desperately tries to win the outright Big Ten title, BG blows past Boren putting Pryor on his back causing the fumble, which is recovered by BG as well. He gets up holding the ball to the sky running off the field. Tate and the offense come out to take the victory formation, while RR gets a well deserved cooler shower on the sidelines.
In the aftermath we will receive commits from all the top guys on our board, go dominate a MAC team in the bowl game and head into next season ready to bust open and show that Michigan football is back!!!

Sorry for the rambling but I am just so damn psyched for Saturday, GO BLUE!!!

I don't really know how to say it. I definitely wouldn't call it a "feeling". Last year, I was optimistic as always but still way too nervous to have a good feeling about it.

I just have a sort of calm about this game. I definitely haven't felt this way about the OSU game before. All I know is we have a chance and I can't wait to see our boys take the field on Saturday. GO BLUE!

i will say that, for some reason, i got chills when reading the part about BG sacking Pryor and running off the field with the ball over his head. as an eternal optimist, i cannot blame you. go blue, let's shock the world.

Only I would change the ending to this.....BG picks up the loose ball and rumbles in from 10 yards out for the touchdown. MichiganNow has a commanding 33-20 lead with the extra point to come. It's up and good Michigan now leads 34-20 with under a minute left to play. Looking over at the Michigan sidline the celebration has already started. Michigan is going to end the drought to OSU and it's official the Rich Rod era has began in Ann Arbor!!!

I wish I could share your optimism about a win. I'll be happy if we fight hard and keep it a contest, which I think would be a boost to recruiting and a semi-positive ending for an otherwise horrific year.

...back in 1995 (i think) nobody thought we would win either and it turned out to be an awesome M victory. final score was something like 31-23 with biakabatuka rushing for 312 yards to obliterate heisman winner eddie george's performance.

that was probably one of the last game's i attended in person (i love the football team but never cared for the old M stadium experience) and i remember that it just seemed like we came out with so much energy that day with a good fast start. somehow that "fast start" carried into the fourth quarter when i suddenly realized "holy shit, we're up by 8 points with like 5 minutes left & even if osu scores right now we might win." those last few minutes of the game were pure bliss.

now that i'm reminiscing, i had a similar experience at the 1998 rose bowl when we clinched an undefeated season.

we won every game that someone came on here saying they had a good feeling about winning...we'd be a BCS bowl and not hoping for 6-6.
I'll say the same for your feeling - I hope to God you are right.

you may have noticed that in football, usually, the best team wins. we are bad. they are good. our two deep is thin and young, theirs is more experienced and deep. they will win, barring some miraculous set of unlikely breaks going our way, and the precise alignment of all the michigan loving stars and gods, (if there are still any left). of course we all hope for a win. and the probability of a win, as brian would say, is greater than zero. but what i more realistically hope for is that we play up to our potential, HANG ON TO THE BALL!, stay in the game thru the forth quarter, and take another step forward in our journey back to greatness. We want to become, and we will become under coach rod, the team, the michigan team, that is again favored to win in every game we play, that doesn't hope for some miracle to pull it off. but for now that is what it will take. a miracle.
