Goodbye: Mike Weber
As for his visit plans, per Rivals' Josh Helmholdt, we'll have to wait:
Since Detroit Cass Tech four-star running back Mike Weber de-committed from Michigan earlier this month, the question has been which schools will receive his official visits.
"Alabama, Ohio State and Michigan State is all I really know right now. I haven't decided on the other two," Weber said. "I haven't set them up yet. I still have to sit down with my parents and see which ones I should take and when. I think I will take at least two in December."
Michigan is still under consideration. Alabama, Georgia, and Notre Dame didn't wait long to offer Weber after his decommitment.
Tyree Kinnel Waits
["]So I’m not too worried about if it Hoke is fired, what I’ll have to do. I know I’ve got other scholarships to schools that said they would take me. At the end the day I know I’ll be fine, so I’m just focused on the state championship right now with my team.”
That isn’t meant to suggest that the longtime Wolverine pledge is definitely headed elsewhere if the current coaching staff is removed.
“They would still be a school I consider,” he said.
Kinnel has no visits planned, yet.
Cole and Clark Wait
From Webb's latest in the Detroit News:
"As [Brian Cole's] daddy I'm telling you we're still evaluating everything. We're looking around, but we're still committed to Michigan."
"I'm just trying to get some other options in case the coaches I have a really good relationship with at Michigan end up going," [Chris Clark] told Scout.com. "And then I'll just have other options.
"I want to see what new coach they get -- if they get a new coach. I just really like my tight end coach at Michigan, Coach (Dan) Ferrigno. He's been with Coach Hoke for a while. If Coach Hoke goes, then he's going to go too."
Grant Newsome, Andrew David, Jon Runyan Jr., and Alex Malzone are solid, at least.
John Kelly, Uncommitted, Waits
"I'm not really worried about that stuff," he said. "They will probably find a good replacement with whatever they do. I've heard about Jim Harbaugh. That would be a really big hire if they could get him. That would help a lot. Besides that, I'm just waiting and seeing. I'm in no hurry to make a decision right now and I'm not favoring any certain schools over another at this point."
Michigan State and Minnesota are also under serious consideration; Kelly has also fielded recent offers from Iowa and Tennessee.
Auden Tate, After A "Great" Visit, Waits
Via Scout's Sam Webb and Amy Campbell:
“I’m a solid commit to FSU still,” Tate insisted. “I’m just taking some visits… just making sure.”
That begs the question, did Michigan give him something to think about?
“I don’t know,” he replied. “Kind of.”
Tate also visited Florida last weekend. They're waiting, too, but in a much different way.

This is the main reason that Hackett needs to stop fucking around and get a coach now. The college seasons of most of the coaches who would be in play are over until the bowls anyway. Wating for Jim Harbaugh is the only valid reason for taking this long. If that is what is going on, Hackett is leaving himself no room for error.

. . . because high-profile hirings are ironically opaque. Nobody is going to say anything until it's done, precisely because it's doubly embarrassing to Dewey Defeats Truman yourself. Also, tipping your hand raises the cost. UM could make a public offer to Harbaugh now, but with some NFL teams showing interest, they'd just start a bidding war what with Harbaugh still with the 49ers and all.
So get used to frustrating silence. It's particularly bad because we have no idea how Hackett the AD will turn out, but Michigan has nothing to gain by showing its hand now.
I don't think anyone is "fucking around". I have no idea if Michigan is being its characteristically irrational self or finally learning its lesson, but silence is not indicative of inactivity.

I know we all focus a lot on recruiting, but that's not a good reason to hurry the process. We've all seen what great recruits without good coaching brings you. So we can sacrifice a bit of recruiting for one cycle if it means getting a guy who will use those recruits the right way. Because if that happens, the recruits will come.

but not much more for a change. The new coach is going to need time to find as many recruits as possible, because Michigan will be down to 2 commits by the time we have a hire. Even for a small class, if they can't get out of the single digits it will be bad.
Hoke can't effectively recruit at all now, so there will be no forward progress until there is a change. But it'll be even worse if it drags out to signing day (or worse and there's 1 more year) because that have major impact on not just this class but the next one.

Credit to the 4 kids who remain committed. Not saying there is anything wrong with the other kids looking around, but it is nice to see a couple of kids who are committing to the school as much as the team.

While they do commit to the school the reason they did was because of the coaching staff. I get the whole loyalty idea, but really why are we demanding loyalty from kids that have a limited time to make any noise and get to the next level? None of the top recruits are coming here for the academics...they're looking to get to the NFL. I wouldn't expect any kid to stay committed while the Athletic Department and the Coaching situation is in chaos because there is nothing telling the kid that anything he's been sold on (staff, type of game, position..etc) will be there when he shows up to camp. Can't expect loyalty without being loyal in the first place.

The bowl debacle could be explained away by a new Qb, but what about ND and Utah? It was clear after Utah change was coming. Remember Corso called Michigan for 4 wins early in the season? Everybody on here was pissed. Michigan won 5.
Everyone knew this season was a train wreck early except the AD and the koolaide club.

Anyway, not sure if many of you follow Gregg Henson's website. It does give you some hope if you want Jim Harbaugh as a coach. Maybe this guy is all wet, not sure, but if you follow his stories the last few months about Brandon and Hoke, he might know something.

Just fyi reasons for hope - on an average year KSU recruits in the 60s, TCU in the 50s, Wisconsin in the 40s, ASU/Stanford in the 30s/40s, MSU in 30s, etc. That is just about every year - not 1 bad year.
We are not competing with Bama anytime soon for NCs. We are just trying to win (say within 3 years) the conf title in a bad conference. Even if for some reason this is a class in the 50s for example that will be a typical TCU class and in some years a typical Stanford or Wisconsin class.
If the coach is right, a bunch of top 10 classes sandwiching a 48th ranked class is not going to be matter much at all, especially when adjusting for the garbage conference we are in. Wrong coach again - and it's all moot as we've seen now.

Mike Weber is Thomas Rawls 2.0, may excel at a small school after he rides the pine for a few years. We have Ty Isaac in addition to the current RB's. We need to resolve this soon, but our cupboard is hardly bare.

Given the importance of the decision that is about to be made (I.e. AD and coaching change), I would encourage the M faithful to not rise and fall on the tweets and "verbal commitments" of 18 yr olds. Yes, this is all very frustrating, discouraging and flat out depressing compared to the big names we were reeling in, in years past. However, that hardly warrants rushing the biggest decision Michigan has faced in a long time. With the hiring of the right coach, many of these "de-commits" could be turned around as well as potentially adding a few others that are currently off radar. Keep the faith and Go Blue!

It will be interesting to see what the team's incompetent play the last two seasons cost us. Hand, Harris, Weber, Taylor, etc. More to come, I fear. There is a lot of talent on the squad right now, but there could have been so much more if the coaches had developed the talent we have. Sad. Great recruiters, though.

We need DEs badly - all we have is Marshall as a RS. We lost Hand. We lost Roseboro.
We need S just in a general way as we have no one who is standing out. Wilson is in his last year in 2015 and then you face Hill and Thomas - neither of which has shown much of anything as your Ss. Clark is another. Hopefully Brandon Watson is one but we have no idea.
Plenty of young WRs in the pipeline - this assumes we keep Cole. Have Ways and Drake Harris next year to join all the other guys, very young position.
We need an outside LB as well. Bilal went to ND I believe.
Hell just remembered we lost Kirkland so we need an ILB as well.
More OL to season to start replacing the 2012s in a few years.
QB will be Malzone, new coach has to evalute if deWeaver is the right guy for him in 2016.

I usually don't click on those music videos they offer. Against my better judgement I did this time. I didn't have the volume turned up too loud because office, but man I just don't get that stuff. Something about "don't die" I guess. There's kids with their eyes closed and then opening and then one is falling through the atmosphere and another is wandering about barefoot in the Himalayas or some damn place and a flying Dorito made of mirrors or some shit. Maybe if I was to get high I'd be like "whoa man!". Otherwise it just seems like pretentious "artsy" blathering.
