The Millennium Falcon shot was great but I loved the shot of the 3 X-Wings flying just above the water. Looked great for such a short teaser, color me excited.

I like Abrams shooting style and if you are going to give the franchise to a fanboy he is one to do it with.  I am not a big Trekkie but I enjoyed the 2 Star Treks from Abrams and they are also movies you dont need to know decades of history of Star Trek to enjoy.  I think he will do well.

If he can get this movie within 20% of Empire Strikes Back I'll call it a home run in a relative sense.

Overall it was a pretty good trailer. That soccerball robot was kind of weird, and not something I'd not normally use to get people excited about a movie. But I'm not JJ Abrams.

But that Millennium Falcon shot....wow, that was just a thing of beauty. There's no way in hell I'm not in line for the midnight showing next year.

That was one of my (many) gripes...but there are so, so many.... :-)

If you haven't seen it yet -- I know that many already have -- do yourself a favor one evening (or, tomorrow, after the first quarter of UM-OSU) and settle in with the Phantom Menace extended review done by RedLetterMedia over on YouTube. I believe, actually, RLM did lengthy reviews of all three prequels. Hilarious, and bitingly accurate at the same time.

On that link, that might be the dumbest thing I've ever read in my entire life. The cross guard is made of the same material as the light saber blade itself. If what that guy is saying in that post on that link would bappen, then the same thing would happen to the light saber blade itself, which we know does not happen in these movies.

New technology to show 'original' stuff will be cool. Storm troopers look awesome, millenium falcon and tie fighters look great, xwings over water.....all wins.

I was really upset when I saw they were erasing the legacy of force story lines and that the solo twins were pretty much being altered. Yes, I'm a real ass nerd. All things aside it looked good. All the talk I've heard about Luke being evil is concerning although I read a ways back that if new movies were ever made Lucas would never allow Luke to turn to the dark side. Since Michigan football went down Luke and the Punisher are all I have left. I'll be there next December, can't wait.

I was pissed about that as well. True, there is a plethora of EU material, but I thought they would pick and choose what would be film worthy, and what wouldn't. I think movies that chronicled the Yuuzhan Vong war and Jacen's descent to the darkside would have been great movies in the right hands

I'm not the biggest Star Wars nerd, but the first thing I noticed was that the Storm trooper in the opening scene was a black guy, weren't the Storm troopers all clones of Boba Phat? In the previous movies he was a Polynesian guy?

But I read a spolier hint that this guy is one of the new good guys and is supposedly undercover as a stormtrooper.  Dunno what type of good-guy he is, whether he is jedi-level or some sort of rebel special forces guy (or whatever the rebels are called 30 years later).

It would make sense to have one of the new good guys be non-white given the fact that most of the original cast is back and outside of Billy Dee Williams is all white.

Seriously for a dad with a five year old who has needed out hard over the new star wars rebels, I just showed this to her and she was almost as excited as her dad. Almost.

Btw- if any other parents are looking for star wars rebels gear, go to Disney store online at hit the star wars store then go all the way to the bottom to the custom tshirt area. You can get "custom" kids shirts with any of the new characters (including the girls).

I will say, the lightsaber with the hilt on it actually was cool and something I wish had been used in the previous films. The last three films were way too clean in their appearance, so it will be interesting to see how Abrams approached this - it looks like it has an appearance more analogous to the first three films, which in itself is refreshing.

I am 43 and can remember watching the first three movies when they came out. I had a ton of toys and action figures. (If only I had kept half of them!). I've been waiting since 1983 to see what happens next. I hope the movie is worth waiting until 2015.

For sure when the opening scene was his head just popping up I thought it was going to be a parody. Cant wait man!

Also, is that wraith squadron? Cant remember what color their X-Wings were...
