Texas A&M eyeing Pat Narduzzi for DC job

Is a coaching candidate for us next year! He has ties to the area, instill discipline and toughness, relatively young. Only downside is no head coaching experience but he seems saavy enough in game situation, based on adjusmenst Ive seen, to show me he could totally grasp that role. I would LOVE Narduzzi as a hire. Bring in Stitt as OC. DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!

in the SEC West being a defensive coordinator at one of those schools doesn't seem like a wise career move.

All the people who want Narduzzi for our HC make me really sad. He sent players out to end Denard's career and defended it afterwards.

I scheduled a flight during the second half of the OSU game so I didn't have to watch the beating. But I wouldn't have to put any work into arranging a way to avoid watching games if Narduzzi were our coach. I'd just be done.

We'd better prepare ourselves to get a HC none of us are thrilled with. Recent HC searches have been a cluster fuck. At least Hackett seems to keep his cell phone close to him. Does he own a boat?

I doubt he'd make a lateral move to leave MSU. Unless it was an NFL DC position, which really isn't a lateral move, but anyway, I doubt he leaves MSU for anything other than a HC position.

Now that Nebraska's open they might go after him, but the last time they got a hot shot DC as a coach, it didn't pan out so well.

I can't see Narduzzi leaving MUS for A&M. Just seems like a lateral move, and he's in a good spot - arguably a better spot - now.

Mattison used to coach there, so that's not a far fetched possibility, assuming that his tenure here is over and that he wants to continue coaching elsewhere.

As for us going after Narduzzi, I'd be surprised if any coordinator without prior head coaching experience would be high on our list of potential candidates. I think that represents more of a gamble than this program needs after the last 8 or so years.

I really look for us to try to get someone with a proven record of success and someone who understands the importance of academics to the institution and won't try to admit good football players who aren't qualified students as RR attempted to do too often. Jim Harbaugh is the obvious choice, but I'm sure there are others in case that doesn't work out.

Latest buzz from various A&M media that I trust:

-Muschamp is the dream candidate, but it's unclear whether or not he'd be interested in A&M.  He may hold out and see if a DC position opens at Alabama/Auburn/LSU.  A lower tier head coaching gig may also be an option.

-Venables at Clemson has deep ties to Sumlin (through OU), but Clemson pays their assistants extremely well so it may not be possible to outbid them.

-Last time around, A&M made a big offer to Narduzzi, but MSU matched and he stayed put.  It sounds like they'll revisit that to see what he's thinking these days, but nobody really expects him to accept an A&M offer.

I would be a little bit surprised if they get any of those three and the second tier of candidates hasn't really emerged yet.  It's a good job, but not an elite job.  A&M has recruited fairly well on defense the last couple of years so there is some talent to work with (e.g. Myles Garrett).  They've also had a tendency to recruit talented headcases (e.g. Dorian Claiborne and friends) so there is a lack of upperclassmen after numerous guys were booted for various shenanigans last year.
