Texas A&M eyeing Pat Narduzzi for DC job
November 30th, 2014 at 12:39 AM ^
Didn't I just see a tweet that Mattison is also rumored? Seems like this is the Throw Everything At The Wall To See What Sticks phase of the coaching carousel
November 30th, 2014 at 1:05 AM ^
How dare you accuse the hack sports media of ohhhhhhhhh
November 30th, 2014 at 1:12 AM ^
See it's funny because Michigan already passed the "Throw Everything At The Wall To See What Sticks" phase of the coaching/AD carousel in early October!
Now I'm sad again. :'(
November 30th, 2014 at 12:42 AM ^
they wanted him when Sumlin took over but he declined?
November 30th, 2014 at 12:44 AM ^
What the hell is fansided?
November 30th, 2014 at 1:06 AM ^
like a Patrick Schmidt. That website is atrocious. He's a radio sports show host in Chicago. Perhaps another Gregggggg Henson type
November 30th, 2014 at 8:28 AM ^
He's funny, because he's fat. Like Valenti.

Give Mike credit, he's dropped some pounds.
November 30th, 2014 at 9:17 AM ^
Nah, he's still a gigantic fucking douche bag.
Fuck that guy.

Mike has been hitting the gym between twinkies
November 30th, 2014 at 10:26 AM ^
Definately a face for radio.
November 30th, 2014 at 10:44 AM ^
I have never heard of this guy. The radio station he's said to work for is one I've never heard of and I can't find the number for it, much less AM or FM. I think he has about as much cache as my neighbor's cat.
On second thought, that's not true. My neighbor's cat just licks his junk and doesn't say stupid stuff for attention, so that cat has more cache.
November 30th, 2014 at 9:34 AM ^
only worse.
November 30th, 2014 at 12:14 PM ^
It's a site where they bring on fans as writers. It gets ugly.
November 30th, 2014 at 12:47 AM ^
Why would Narduzzi make a lateral move like that?
November 30th, 2014 at 12:50 AM ^
a) the money
b) A&M is ESS EEE CEE and at this point is certainly higher profile than Sparty, accordingly, right or wrong
November 30th, 2014 at 12:52 AM ^
I could see him moving south if TAM pays him 1.2M
November 30th, 2014 at 1:05 AM ^
MSU to Texas A&M is a step up but I do not think he takes it unless they offer him over a million dollars.
November 30th, 2014 at 5:22 AM ^
TAMU has more relevance at 7-5 than Sparty does at 10-2. That is why Narduzzi would make the move. Maybe he realizes that his ticket to being offered a really good HC job is to have a higher profile. I think he also would love to have access to the kind of personnel he could recruit in Texas.
November 30th, 2014 at 12:50 AM ^
Go to the Big 12 and your defensive coaching acumen becomes an afterthought. No matter how good you are, someone's gonna drop 60 on you.
I honestly would not take a defensive coordinator job in the Big 12.
November 30th, 2014 at 12:50 AM ^
You do know that A&M play in the SEC, right?
November 30th, 2014 at 12:51 AM ^
Whoops...I must be getting old. Whiffed on that
November 30th, 2014 at 9:36 AM ^
you were too busy with the ladies for the past two years.
November 30th, 2014 at 1:48 AM ^
Yeah, but still
November 30th, 2014 at 12:51 AM ^
He's never leaving, and I dont care. The defense for MSU this year wasnt anywhere close to the previous.
November 30th, 2014 at 12:53 AM ^
Dude aint goin anywhere until he's offered a legit P5 head coaching job.
November 30th, 2014 at 1:28 AM ^
He may be waiting awhile in that case. He's not as hot a commodity now, after his D got abused by Oregon and OSU. He should have taken the UConn job.
November 30th, 2014 at 9:04 AM ^
His numbers and rankings for defense is still very high up there
November 30th, 2014 at 10:22 AM ^
He plays in the perfect conference for his scheme. It relies on a bevy of bad QBs - which the Big 10 offers in abundance. Even Appleby at Purdue with a bunch of 2 star talent scorched it. Yes we suck attacking it but that's because we've had running QBs who are inaccurate almost his entire reign.
When you put good passing offenses up against it it gets hit. It would get smashed by mediocre teamms like Texas Tech in the Big 12. And the Pac 12 would feast on it. You cant devote 9 players to the run in those conferences. You can in the Big 10 when Gary Nova is the 3rd "best" passer in the league and almost every offense is built around the run.
As for rankings, the top 25 is littered with Big 10 teams on defense. So either we've entered a golden era of defense in the Big 10 or the offenses are horrible on average. Plus beating up on MAC offenses inflates the statistics in OOC.
And he is not leaving MSU for $200K. Just a dumb article.
November 30th, 2014 at 5:28 AM ^
staying in one spot isn't the best way to get a power 4 HC job. It's better to prove yourself in more than one place.
November 30th, 2014 at 7:32 AM ^
Power 4? Did they boot B1G?
November 30th, 2014 at 12:57 AM ^
GERG is the front runner for the position.
November 30th, 2014 at 1:02 AM ^
They did this last year and failed.
November 30th, 2014 at 1:36 AM ^
I thought they already offered him once?
November 30th, 2014 at 8:01 AM ^
As I recall, he interviewed for it once (he might have even gone down there to do it too), but I can't remember what the offer might have been in terms of years / money. I am pretty sure that, if he chose to interview for it again, Texas A&M is prepared to offer substantially more for a Narduzzi or Muschamp level hire at defensive coordinator.
November 30th, 2014 at 1:52 AM ^
Could be a worthwhile risk. I'm sure A&M has tons of talent on the defensive side of the ball. If he turns their defense around he could be a candidate for major programs (no I don't see UConn as a major program) by this time next year. I wonder if he gets overlooked sometimes by the bigger programs because of Dantonio's defensive background.
November 30th, 2014 at 3:18 AM ^
I'm not certain who's behind Sparty's defense between Dantonio or Narduzzi. Maybe it's Godzilla (Dantonio), but it could be Godzuki (Narduzzi). It might be both of them (Ghidora, with one less head). I...do...not...care... One of those fuckers has got to go!
November 30th, 2014 at 3:29 AM ^
Rumor is that they're going hard after Muschamp. No link, as it was discussed heavily during one of the evening games tonight.
November 30th, 2014 at 6:44 AM ^
Muschamp is the apple of the Aggies' eye. He was formerly the DC and coach in waiting at Texas and has years of experience/knowledge of the SEC. If TAMU goes after Narduzzi, it will only be because they wiff on Muschamp.
November 30th, 2014 at 6:16 AM ^
I really don't see him going anywhere. For some reason, he doesn't seem all that motivated by money. Dantonio handles all the stress, and they keep winning. I'd be surprised if he took any other HC job besides MSU--when that time comes.
November 30th, 2014 at 7:48 AM ^
Making a lateral move. Pat leaves when he becomes a HC....if he ever leaves EL.
November 30th, 2014 at 7:56 AM ^
Texas a&m is really looking at the big picture. They need a big time dc hire to balance their high powered offense. With that said i dont see it. I think Muschamp is a much more likely candidate
November 30th, 2014 at 8:11 AM ^
I don't see Narduzzi coming to A&M. Hopefully Muschamp does
November 30th, 2014 at 8:25 AM ^
I see Muschamp going there. I think Narduzzi will sit tight until an attractive HC gig opens up.

I think he'd be crazy to not try to get the Michigan job. Coordinators don't have the luxury of having hate in their heart towards a team the way head coaches do.
November 30th, 2014 at 8:12 AM ^
If true, this would be a home run hire for their defense. Guy knows what he's doing.
November 30th, 2014 at 8:12 AM ^
If he didn't go there like 3 years ago when they courted him (took his wife to college station and everything) he's not going now.

Illinois job will open up and he will go there. That could be a great program with the right coach.

You're gonna have to explain yourself here. What about Illinois' one good season in the past 25 makes you think it is a program on the cusp of greatness?
