Will We Keep Anything From Hoke Era? Legacy Jerseys? Calling Them "Ohio"?
In addition to the flat-out stupid stuff - not wearing a headset, clapping like a seal, losing to every team as soon as they join the B1G - the Brady Hoke Era brought us the following innovations:
- Legacy Jerseys (although this was more of a Brandon idea)
- Numbering the teams (Team 135, etc.)
- Calling them "Ohio."
When he's gone, will any of these endure? I see the team-numbering one sticking around, "Ohio" will go away immediately, and legacy jerseys will be gone as soon as the current jersey-holders graduate. What say you?

I hope the legends jerseys and calling OSU "Ohio" burn in flames. I hate both of these things with a passion. Not a big fan of calling a team by its historical number either. Fuck it, burn it all down to the ground.

They were team 118. Carr gave his seniors special shirts with the number of the team on them each year.

I still call them Ohio. Many other teams use the team number. I would like to see the legacy jerseys disappear in terms of being awarded, but don't mind a smaller patch of recognition for former players.
No need to pile on just because Hoke wasn't successful, especially because you probably wouldn't and didn't bring these things up when Michigan had more success.

2008 Michigan scored 20.2 PPG and gave up 28.9.
2014 Michigan is scoring 20.3 PPG and giving up 20.6.
We'll have to give up 120 points next week to match the 2008 team's defensive average.

That Michigan team started a Steven Threet/Nick Sheridan hybrid at QB, and was expected to be terrible. The 2014 team is way worse.

The 2008 team was ranked #24 in the coaches' poll before the season. It was supposed to be shaky on offense but elite on defense. No one predicted 3-9.

2008 was the worst Michigan team in my lifetime: fewest wins since 1963 and broke the bowl streak. Steven Threet, David Cone and Nick Sheridan at QB (Mallet transferred). Lost to Toledo. Lost to ND, PSU, MSU and OSU. Gave up 45 points to Illinois in a loss.
2014 has been bad, but not that bad.

But 2008 was an experiment. Expectations were low and the future seems bright at the time.
2014 was a year it was all supposed to come together after four years under the same regime.
That 2014 compares with 2008 at all makes 2014 far worse.

No, expectations weren't low. 6-6 was the floor then, and people were furious that Michigan had done so poorly. I remember people calling into WTKA and wanting RR gone that first season.
The only excuse was that it was the first year in a coaching change. This is year 4.

The 2008 team didn't get shut out. They just lost to a MAC team and needed two improbable wins over Wisconsin and Minnesota to avoid going 1-11.

Well Team 135 was supposed to have a lot more talent relative to 2008 and this year's team has significantly underperformed relative to expectations. The 2008 team was not going to be successful expecially after the former head coach encouraged mass transfers.

everyone knew we lost almost the entire core of the team from 2007 to the NFL. Expectations were "low". The 2008 may have been statistically "worse", but one could easily argue that this years team is the most disappointing, embarrassing and disorganized Michigan football team that we have seen in a long, long time.

I dont think the legacy jerseys were really a Hoke thing per se - its seemed more an administrative deal to avoid retiring numbers. They have never been a fan favorite, but I think they will stick around until someone comes up with something better.
"Ohio" will be gone, team numbers will stay, the next coach will wear a headset and long sleeves and will eat breakfast on game days.

How could I have forgotten the short sleeves? An upvote for that. I'm not sure I want our next coach wearing a Wayne Fontes parka or a Mark Dantonio ski cap, but I would like to see a nice sweatshirt on him in November.

Huh? So a parka or a warm hat would be a negative? I don't think MSU fans would care much if Dantonio wore the ski cap in September since they win games. I actually support that idea!

Just personal preference. I don't like it when our coach looks stupid on the sideline in the winter weather. Wayne Fontes looked stupid in his parka. Mark Dantonio looks stupid because he's Mark Dantonio.

The legacy jerseys were a Brandon thing, I hope we never see them again. Just retire the numbers and put them on display at Schembechler Hall.

The issue, and the reason why the legends jerseys won't go away, is that you start running out of numbers if you retire all of them. We already have multiple players who wear the same number, but the the problem gets way worse if you have 105 players on the roster and only 88 or so numbers you can give out.

They did it by not retiring the jerseys of anyone who played after the 1950s, because they didn't want to run out of numbers.
