Like three sentences before that he also claimed that Michigan needs to recruit the "hood" and not these "trust fund babies". Sounds like a great source to me.

Yeah okay.  He also said that the problem with the current team is that they need to recruit better.

His reasoning for why Harbaugh won't leave basically boils down to "he has an NFL job already" which I believe has been documented as to why this situation is the exception to that rule.

Foote has never played with/for Harbaugh, and I wonder how many times the two of them have even met/exchanged words.  This whole thing is dumb.  Oh wait, no it's just Lloyd Players bein' Lloyd Players.

I know a lot of people on here hated it, but....

I absolutley loved when Braylon said, "Lloyd Carr's Michigan" on MNF introductions after RR F-ed things up.

I felt the exact same way. I was born in 85, didn't start watching until 94 or 95, 96 religiously, so Lloyd was all I knew...SO BACK OFF MY BOY...unless the /s was implied.

Something Foote did say that I agree with is that UofM needs to recruit more street tough kids. Yeah Jake Ryan is a baller but where are the Shazors and Crables and Foote's who play with RAAAGE. I know he is stereotyping but I kind of agree with that statement, we dont need polite kids with high character TM...get me some pissed off mean ballers!

Carr's half of a National Championship doesn't make him exempt from criticism.  If Carr had not led "his" people into rebelling against Rich Rod and damaging the program, Rich Rod would still be here, 2011 may have been a National Championship year and Denard probably would have won a Heisman.

Lloyd Carr sacrifced what has turned out to be seven years of Michigan football (and counting) because he was angry that he didn't get to name his successor.  He put his personal agenda ahead of the University of Michigan.  He deserves to be criticized for it, just as he deserves to be celebrated for 1997.

Carr is certainly not immune from criticism, but denigrating his accomplishments by saying that he won "half" an NC is stupid. 12-0 is 12-0. That team did everything it could have done to state its case. Lloyd had no control over the fact that Nebraska also went undefeated or that the BCS didn't exist yet. He won a National Championship. Period.

It's also partly due to the fact that there are more FBS teams now.

RR's teams played at a high tempo but it was never quite as extreme as this year's team is at the other end. Michigan's oFEI this year is 94th of 128; their dFEI in 2010 was 109th of 120. There's a big difference between the #12 and #35 teams in the country--this is the same difference at the other end.

Yeah and if RR had been a decent guy, he would've met with Lloyd when he wanted to, to talk about assistant coaches he might want to keep on the staff. Instead RR didn't want anything to do with it. So, Lloyd being pissed off told the players that if they didn't want to stay, they didn't have to because RR was a jackass. You can't have your cake and eat it too. RR would not have won a NC in 2011 because the only reason we went 11-2 was the defense. Without Mattison that defense was still a tire fire. Denard was not a good QB and neither is Gardner. They're terrible passers and even worse decision makers. Denard would have done his 2009-2012 usual and started off hot, then get hurt because that's what happens to running QB's in the B1G.

This may be the dumbest thing ive heard. Why does rr need to talk to the old coach? Give me an example of when that happened? He was 10 years removed from the national championship. Why would he want assistance that had accomplished nothing recently? Plus rr was 1 loss out of the national championship that year. I'm sure he felt he had things under control.

Yeah, that "Lloyd Carr's Michigan" stunt that Braylon pulled really brought everyone together and showed his support for the team didn't it?

Oh and FTR you and I are the same age and I was also raised on Lloyd Carr football.  Lloyd Carr WAS a great coach.  Emphesis on the past-tense verb.

Fans like you are a big part of what is wrong with Michigan these days.  Lloyd Carr was a fine coach, but he's not bigger than the program.  Players who stepped forward during the Rodriguez era and openly voiced their support for the old regime shouldn't be celebrated.  They hurt the program, because they put their coach above the program, and that's wrong. 

It's this romanticization of "Lloyd Carr's Michigan" that lead us to hiring Brady Hoke as coach, and it's the height of hubris.  Brandon thought he could just bring in Hoke, reboot Lloyd's program and everything would go back to the way it was before Rodriguez.  We need to move on.

I get what you're saying about mindset, but I disagree that you need to come from a certain SES, cultural or geographical background to have that attitude.

It starts from the top. Teams take on the personality of their coach and that is one of the major problems with this current roster.

agree with your last statement, and I believe that's been the case, more less, for many years.  Pre-dating RR in fact.  How many times was it said of LC, that he was the one most capable of getting the least from the best.

the pre-game player interviews of the MSU OSU game?  Foote probably didn't either.  Both of you would probably fall out of your chairs because those were the six or eight most well spoken football players I've ever heard during one TV segment.

You don't have to be from the "hood" bringing all that gansta rage to the game, you simply have to bring your highest level of competitiveness to the game.

Frank Clark prides himself for leaving the 'hood behind, does he look less the player for it?
