I've seen the same thing from a ton of people who don't have an ingrained background in the sport.

A little more info about how he's (or she's) tried to start following would be helpful to give some advice about getting hockey to "stick" but personally I would make sure I had a working knowledge of basic rules like offsides, icing, legal and illegal checking and whatnot, I'd start by watching NHL games on TV because the skill level weeds out a lot of mistakes that slow down or complicate the game and despite what I just said I'd go to whatever game you can locally because the excitement of being there is a huge part of what makes the game such a blast. I know they get bad raps around here with crazy uniformz and rawk but going to a minor league (or college) game is an inexpensive way to go out and have a few beers and get close to the ice.

One other fun thing is hearing stories about how absolutely bat-shit crazy some of the old timers were. When I was a kid I read about (I think) Bobby Hull taking a puck to the mouth; he pulls out a full tooth, root and all, and hands it to a coach before skating into the offensive zone. Stuff like that always made me realize just how ridiculous this game was/is.

lol MLS...yeah no. Happy for the Michigan players tho. If we're gonna keep tabs on the MLS, might as well keep tabs on the NFL's new minor league system that Gallon plays in known as the FXFL (on the Brooklyn Bolts) or the CFL.

I'm actually planning on adding the FXFL players (Roh and Mealer), but they having been updating statistics very well up until now. I haven't seen Gallon show up on any of the box scores yet either.

McGuffie is the only former Wolverine I have seen in the CFL, but last I checked he hadn't played yet this year.

Oh no, what a terrible inconvenience for you to have to scroll down a few extra times on your mouse! I don't care much for hockey, but I'm not going to bitch about it, and I'm still interested in how the former Michigan players are doing. Hell, I'm even up for including the WNBA in here, if Michigan has any players in it!
