One Frame At A Time: Indiana Comment Count

Ace

Drake Johnson, Ann Arbor native and dual-sport star at the unparalleled Pioneer High School, broke the century mark and scored two touchdowns on Saturday. His second trip to the end zone looked pretty dang cool:

Even cooler was seeing his mother, longtime M cheerleading coach Pam St. John, allowing herself a moment to admire the TD and let it all soak in:

This season—and Saturday's weather—may have turned warm hearts to icy stone, but that'll reverse the process in a hurry.

At the game I remember seeing an IU coach help Darboh up after he was eventually pushed out of bounds on that play.  We (the people sitting around me) thought it looked as though he was congratulating him on a great play...he slapped him on the butt and was smiling while yelling something to him as he walked away.  He looked way too excited to have just witnessed up close one of his guys getting owned by an opponent, but it was still cool to see.

While in the process of being tackled, inches above the turf, #98 flips a touchdown pass to #92.  That must be the most Michigan of all touchdowns.  :-)

For all my fandom, I don't actually get the chance to go to many games (for any number of reasons), but I've been fortunate to see some very cool ones, or ones that were special for reasons other than maybe that particular game, in and of itself, (saw two games in the '97 National Championship season--Baylor and NW, got a last-minute ticket to see the miraculous Manningham game-winner vs. Penn St. in 2005--you'd have sworn we just won the Rose Bowl).

At first, I was dreading the prospect of this Indiana game: a sudden cold and rainy snap, the very real prospect of a loss on Homecoming to a previous perennial patsy, the general disarray of the program, INTERCEPTIONSINTERCEPTIONSINTERCEPTIONS, etc. But then the news about Brandon broke, lifting my sails a bit. "Maybe the general mood will be improved?", I reasoned. And in the end, that, combined with one of the most competent games we've played in weeks, and the unexpected performance by Drake Johnson made Saturday a simply wonderful day to take in a game. Go Blue!

I would have nominated Dever's valliant but unsuccessful attempt to get his feet under him for YACs.  It reminded me of Dileo's 4th Quarter catch against Ohio in 2011.

those guys would be running laps and tackling dummies until the dinosaurs came back.   i don't know if I've seen more crappy-form, missed tackles ever.   for a D-1 team to do that is inexcusable.

I must have said "where has he been" about 7 times on Saturday. Are you telling me he's had one good week of practice all year. That's what Hoke always says. So all of preseason camp and every week up until last he hasnt practiced well? What a joke. Drake is the only player who can cut up the field and has breakaway on the entire team and he's never played!!! WTF  are the coaches evaluating?
