Politics and all, but wasn't he debating a run for governor? MSU fans... Just show a little gratitude. Michigan fell on a rather large grenade to save the State as a whole. Can you imagine this piece of shit as a politician? Of course you can. Here's to one less shithead with a future in politics.

Why was this down-voted? Obviously sarcastic, and way too much fun to imagine.

DB: Folks, Detroit is not a brand, but 'Motor City' and 'Motown' are. As your Mayor, I will work tirelessly to make certain that Motor City and Motown are nationally and internationally recognized and beloved symbols of this great City, eliciting faster associative responses than such competitors like "the Windy City", "the City that Doesn't Sleep", the "City of Brotherly Love", or the "Twin Cities". My Plan for the success of Detroit is to immediately begin work on:

(1) installing permanent speakers throughout the city to play Motown music down every major pedestrian thoroughfare;

(2) renaming all roadways and neighborhoods with Legends of Motown and Motor City brandages (i.e., the "Jackson 5" Mile);

(3) lighting up the Detroit waterfront with a weekly fireworks display, which will be the envy of every human, obviously; and

(4) building a brand new luxury-styled neigborhood and shopping district along the waterfront with the investment of my friend Steven Ross, where the Detroit Experience will be consumed from the comfort of luxury condominiums, restaurant piazzas, high-end shopping outlets, and hotel room windows.

Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross, Ted Nugent...these are just a few of the names I will repeat over and over again. The cost of roughly $800M will be made up by increasing bridge and road tolls, and Mr. Ross's investment. Visitors and residents will be wowed by what makes our city so great. This idea is so fucking brilliant.

Citizen: But Mayor Dave, although I share your enthusiasm for much of what makes our city recognizable; there's no pragmatic formula in your outline of works to deal with our city's crippling debt, lack and constant loss of jobs, our plight, corruption, weakened infrastructure, etc. These expenses, without stability, quite frankly appear crushing and short-sighted. What is your plan to bring actual stability to our city?

DB:  Did you not see the "Detroit Rules" biplane we commissioned over Cincinatti last week?! Running a city is 'big-boy' business. I suggest you move somewhere else if you don't share my vision.

Narcissist quotes are the best!

My favorite part about narcissists is that when attempting a lie to cover their own ass--as here, by Dave Brandon--the lies are so often non-sequiturs related to their self-proclaimed greatness.

Here Dave Brandon asserts that he does not read blogs--and therefore, because he does not read blogs, he thinks Emailgate is nonsense

Just take a minute to let that soak in.

Then ask, what in holy hell does his reading blogs or not have to do with the authenticity of these emails that have his name on them?  He knows whether he sent them or not; whether he reads blogs has nothing to do with it.

Yet he still finds it necessary to assure us that he does not read blogs, therefore all subjects discussed on all blogs are nonsense.

Hilarious!

How about the quote, "I'm here to get an award, so I appreciate you showing up, but that's not why I'm here" when asked to comment on the report.

A number of members of the Athletic Dept. were there to accept the award also, but Dave phrases it like it's "his" award.

Get off your high horse you jackass.  /horse pun'd

Who proudly admits that they don't read blogs? Like at all...? I spend a lot of time on mgoblog, but I regularly read dozens of other blogs relevant to my actual profession. It's an important way for me to learn new things and to stay in touch with diverse ideas and positions. No wonder he is so out of touch.

That's the part I really don't get.

This is a guy who clearly knows all about the new forms of digital media and regularly uses them to "enhance the brand", and yet he makes it a point of pride to condescend whenever talking about blogs like it's still 1999 and the only people on the internet are nerds sitting in their underwear in their parents' basement.

Like hey Dave, wake up bud.  A large contingent of Michigan athletic supporters get their Michigan athletic news from blogs and form their opinion from blogs so maybe it would be a good time to start reading them after you've finished firing off a few dozen emails to the fake-ass wolverines*.

"Not everybody's the perfect Athletic Director in the world. I mean every AD gouges people, belittles people, steals dignity from you, steals from me, whatever. I think that people need a second chance, and I've always looked up to myself, David Brandon, and I always will"
