Now Wojo lowers the boom: Fire Hoke.

But I get the impression that Wojo is afraid to call for his head during the season.

if the players plant a bigger spike, like three times as big, in the turf in Ohio?

If Urban Meyer is on the end of it.

Couldn't have said it better myself. But of course, that would threaten his health and he'd be forced to take a year off or something.
Also....20,000 pts. Do I get a free t-shirt or something?

His apology will be three times as big.

It's a real struggle just sitting around waiting for something to happen here. I guess it will make it that much more exciting when something actually happens (I'm looking at you first DB). I can't even imagine the jubilation that will occur on this blog when/if DB gets canned.
The feeling for Hoke getting fired isn't the same since I actually still think he's a good guy and like him, he's just not a competent football coach.
October 27th, 2014 at 11:59 PM ^
For me it's pretty cut and dried re:Hoke. There's been a decline for 4 straight years now. He's just not getting it done.
October 28th, 2014 at 2:17 AM ^
And no line of sight that next year will be any different.
Time to move on.
October 28th, 2014 at 12:04 AM ^
I just can't feel bad for a guy who gets fired because he can't do his job. People get fired for waaaaaaay shittier reasons than that every day, and they don't get millions in a buy out. Hoke will be fine, a little worse on the ego front, but I'm not going to let that ruin the few weeks of hope I have that Michigan might become a national power again before we hire Scot Loeffler

Because Shane Morris was accidentally left in for one play? That event is so grossly over-exaggerated at this point. Hoke wasn't trying to kill Shane. Every other snippet of evidence we have says he takes great care of his guys

Couldn't agree more. I thought people came to this blog to get a more level-headed take on UM athletics. It's sad when the message boards become filled with sound bites people heard on ESPN, SI, etc.

Hoke is a good man. He may not be a good coach, or at least not good enough for Michigan, but you will be hard-pressed to find anyone who's met him who will speak ill of him.

They aren't the same. Saban is a great football coach and is a dick who basically cuts guys who underperform. Hoke is not a great football coach and takes good care of his guys.

I wish people would pay me $4 million a year to do my dream job this poorly. The man is being handsomely compensated, he's a nice guy, but he's being paid for results on the field that exist only in Brandon's 2011 fantasy.

about the position many take--Hoke is a good guy, that is the point, NOT that he is a good coach for Michigan
October 28th, 2014 at 12:33 AM ^
I didn't say I'll feel bad for him. It's just a different feeling than the one I'll have when DB is gone.

I noticed something while watching Saturday's game. Both announcers described Hoke and Gardner in much the same way: "He's a good man/He's a nice guy/He's a great kid, but ..."
And I thought: An examination of your job performance that starts out with a description of your personality? That's the very definition of the term "damning with faint praise." It's a bit like having your blind date described as "a really nice girl." Well, that's a good characteristic, but it shouldn't be your top selling point.
Yes, Brady Hoke is a good man who truly loves Michigan. So is my mailman. But he's not qualified to coach a major college program, either.

Is your mailman willing to entertain spread and other modern football concepts?
October 28th, 2014 at 9:05 AM ^
Can't say. I do know that when he delivers the right letter to the right address, he's having a good day.
But hey - a real nice guy though!
October 28th, 2014 at 9:12 AM ^
If he can that would be an improvement over what we have now since we repeatedly have sent out 10 players vs their 11. Counts to 11 and wears a headset? Sounds like he needs a CC thread.
October 28th, 2014 at 9:18 AM ^
If my blind date is a really nice girl, that's kind of a selling point for me.
October 28th, 2014 at 9:20 AM ^
does he wear a headset? Even if it's a set of Beats, at least he's open to the idea, right?
October 28th, 2014 at 11:14 AM ^
NGBs. Nice guy, but...
Hoke definitely fits that category.

Really? How many millions has Coach Hoke been paid to run this program into the ground? He was hired to do a job; he failed miserably. Oh, and when he's fired, he'll walk away with another few million in his pocket for being bad at his job and being fired early. Cry me a river.
October 28th, 2014 at 12:02 AM ^
Et tu, Wojo?

Loved the reminder that there's just 4 games left. You lose track when you've wanted your season to be over since week 2.

we have no QB right now. Perhaps Speight or Malzone ... but we need a gun-slinger to make Nuss's offense be potent. If no one is concerned about the passing game - we'll never be able to run the football or control the ball.
Go Blue!

I wouldn't throw in the towel on him yet. He's young and definitely has negatively been impacted by the coaching issues here. With a fresh start and better staff he may return to what we all hoped he could be.
October 28th, 2014 at 10:28 AM ^
Maybe a better OL would make DG and Shane look a lot better. Shane is only in his 2nd year with the program but he's shown very little so far of being a decent starter. His career stats to this point are:
43/87 (49.4%) 0 TD 5 INT 4.5 YPA
And the 'eye test' isn't much better. I hope someone can coach him up but I'd say the title of 'bust' is starting to loom over his head
October 28th, 2014 at 10:32 AM ^
Depending on the hire, I wouldn't be surprised to see Morris jump ship if he sees the writing on the wall that the new coach wants to bring in a different style of QB or Speight starts to bite at his ankles. There will likely be a relatively large exodus of players after this season. While the "weapons" to win are there, I can't see this team REALLY turning it around for at least a year. I think Peppers is at risk of leaving as well. Seemingly absent from all team matters in the past month, at least publicly.
October 28th, 2014 at 11:06 AM ^
didn't make Gardner fumble a handoff, throw his two interceptions, stare down receivers, and only have eyes for the primary. Nor did the OL prevent receivers (Funchess) from bringing down very catchable passes. And the OL certainly didn't make Funchess tackle our own running back.
October 28th, 2014 at 11:29 AM ^
On the second one it looked like the lineman blocked justice hayes from getting to his spot on the screen. Sure, the lineman didn't "cause" Gardner to flip the ball foward instead of firing it into the ground, but they at least were part of the problem.
