WE CLAIM THIS FIELD IN THE NAME OF COMMITMENT AND HARD-TO-SEE OBJECTS

This is a real thing.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Below is a statement from University of Michigan head football coach Brady Hoke:

“I want to publicly apologize to Coach Dantonio as well as the players and supporters of Michigan State for our act of poor sportsmanship displayed pre-game yesterday. I spoke with Mark earlier today and expressed to him that we meant no disrespect to his team. During our regular Friday night team meeting, one of the topics presented to motivate our team was a history lesson addressing commitment and teamwork in a tough environment. A tent stake was presented to the team as a symbol of this concept. The stake was brought into our locker room as a visual reminder, and one of our team leaders chose to take it out on the field. As the leader of our football program, I take full responsibility for the actions of our team. We believe in displaying a high level of respect at the University of Michigan and unfortunately that was not reflected by this action prior to kickoff.”

We're very sorry a thing meant to be driven into a field was driven into your field.

Umm..well..Mark, Mark you know we talked..but for everybody else..

I would like to sincerely state, "I am so sorry my team came in your house and displayed an act of agression before the game. We don't coach that crap."

'Just when you thought there was no more humiliation to endure...

I may be an idiot, but judging from what Jamie Morris said on the radio this morning, it sounds as though more than a few alumni players from Michigan teams that actually beat Michigan State without having to resort to sophomoric histrionics have the same view of this as I do.

And if we'd won I'd still think it was histrionic bullshit more suited to Michigan State.

"Can't think of a bigger lose/lose decision than driving a stake into Sparty field. This was planned & people thought this was a good idea?"

Of course, what does Bennie know about football? All he did was play on teams that beat OSU and MSU two times each.

Why let them do the darn stake in the first place and second why say sorry? I mean they had the last word when they ran the ball down our throats to end it and Brady just makes us look like little babies now. Sorry Big bad Spart for making you mad....

...Coach Hoke looks like he has abdicated his responsibility for winning football games in favor of just issuing apologies.  The stake incident is embarrassing, but once your players have done it, would this not have been a better opportunity for him to come out and say "Damn right we put a stake in the field, and shame on us for not backing it up"?

Finally someone who calls out both Hoke and Dantonio! Dantonio is just a big cry baby and one of the dirtiest coaches around. You take the 'little stake' incident and turn it into a lesson of pure unsportsmanlike conduct at the end of the game. If my opinion of him could get lower, it would. Hoke on the other hand is now seen as a weak, doddling, fool...which would be accurate.

Now if only Dantonio would apologize for his lack of sportsmanship at the end of the game. That TD was totally unnecessary/uncalled for.

Carr was our "nice guy" and too many rally around that term as if it means anything in football.   Get the hell over it already.   Dantonio means business.  He's out to win national championships.  He doesn't need to hug us after a blow out and our fans should be tough enough to take it.  That was an emphatic FU-K YOU!! to UM and a HELL YES to the playoff selection.  I personally hated when Carr would take a knee in the red zone just to "be nice."  Screw that.  You play to win.  Every play is a chance to showcase your talent.   28 points ain't all that many for a #8 against a bottom-of-the-barrel unranked.  He did the right thing.

Watching it live, I thought 'Well, Michigan is down by 17 points exactly so technically they covered the spread- smart to make sure and cover."  Then I thought "They need every point they can get if they want to be in the playoff."  Then I thought "It's Michigan, they have it coming."  And that settled it, even before I heard about Spike-gate.

"I think I was aware that something happened, but I'm not fully aware."  WTF dude?

I hate Dantonio. He's a smug prick, but mostly because he seems to be doing a pretty good job beating Michigan. And questioning the sportsmanship of them piling on a TD at the end is bulshit. I expect no quarter in this game, because we should offer none when we again get that chance.
