Before 2015, you'll feel a lot better.
I think.

If Rich Rod had remained coach and UM's defense got to be as good as it is now is UM
a: best team in big ten
b: best team in college football
c: best team anywhere ever
October 26th, 2014 at 9:17 AM ^
His offense failed to beat good teams. UM would beat crappy teams, but still lose to good teams. Oh and his special teams sucked too. You forgot to mention that.
October 26th, 2014 at 9:23 AM ^
His special teams sucked because his pk couldn't hit the broad side of a barn and the punter wasn't available half the time.
October 26th, 2014 at 10:26 AM ^
His OFFENSE failed to win against good teams? Last time I checked, a team has a defense too. Like Rodriguez said at the time, his defense is very young. Some of the fan base and DB didn't want to hear that though and wanted him out. A little more patience at the time would have went a long way, and saved a lot of grief with this current situation. Brandon wanted his guy in there though. He should have just showed a bit more patience and resolve to allow Rodriguez that fourth year. Some of the regents wanted him gone too . (dead man walking) He just didn't fit in with their snooty little idea of what a Michigan Man coach should be and how he should talk. After four years now they need a new coach again, to repair the damage from their previous decision. They got their comeuppance. Karma... It can be a female dog sometimes.
October 26th, 2014 at 11:08 AM ^
Yes, his offense came to a halt against good teams. Of course, this was overshadowed by the defense -- which was consistently historically bad.
October 26th, 2014 at 12:31 PM ^
of Rodriguez. Being able to stop a good offense is the very definition of a good defense. That's why it's considered good.
Every offense struggles against a good defense. Singling this out as some indictment of Rodriguez specifically is meaningless.
October 26th, 2014 at 10:41 AM ^
How's he doing right now? How'd he do at West Virginia?
It would appear that the arguments for Rodriguez hold more weight than the arguments against him.
But you stay in that vacuum.
October 26th, 2014 at 1:31 PM ^
Agreed - Rich Rod's clear path of successes before and after his tenure at UM is an anchor around Brandon's neck he can't and won't shake (as well as everyone else who shouted for his firing four years ago). For anyone not watching, Rodriguez is 6-1 this season at AZ. Not some powerhouse - Arizona. And he's playing in a tough Pac-12 conference. No doubt that's the result of a much deeper recruiting pool in terms of talent than UM.
October 26th, 2014 at 8:15 PM ^
... fighting the perception that he wasn't going to last at Michigan from day 1. That isn't a recipe for success. I'm surprised that it is that hard of a concept to grasp for some people.

You forgot to mention that Loser Lloyd talked both quarterbacks we had into transferring before Rich Rod even got to talk to them. What a classy guy Carr is. I'm sure you know this because you're so smart that the AD would not pay the money or give a contract to bring Jeff Casteel here from WV. So RR got stuck with a DC that Michigan would pay for. Then OMG Brandon fires RR and hires Butter Ball. Then money is no object to Michigan. Learn the facts first.

So which day this week will Hoke be fired? And then how soon afterward will Brandon be let go?

F moral victories.

Thank God Hoke didn't go all mad scientist during the bye week, we may have scored 12-14
October 25th, 2014 at 8:34 PM ^
I thought we were going to see more of this. From memory I recall the fourth down play that came up short and not much else. Probably not the difference maker but would be nice to see something a little different.
October 25th, 2014 at 9:13 PM ^
At the time, I didn't think that was a called run. Not sure we called one all game.
October 25th, 2014 at 9:44 PM ^
and seeing some open field

I got an epic beatdown that cracked my ribs, crushed my testicles, gave me brain damage and publicly embarrassed me so thorougly my family disowned me and my girl left me for the guy who beat my ass, but at least I landed a punch when I tried to hit back.

One small edit:
/waves tiny flag
Nice post and summary of that "game".
October 25th, 2014 at 7:14 PM ^
There was some trend that was broken? Gee, you would have thought the announcers on the game might have mentioned a trend at sometime . . . :)
If anybody has a LOT of time on their hands, I'd love to see exactly how many times they repeated the "no TDs since Columbus discovered the new world" meme during the game.
Over/under? Has to be at least around 25 . .
October 25th, 2014 at 11:05 PM ^
The only positive I can come up with is that maybe this trend reverses in the opposite direction starting today. A slow build over the next 5 years to us scoring 45 again would be nice. Too much to ask?

It was kind of sad watching Nuss all fired up after the TD.
October 25th, 2014 at 7:20 PM ^
Pat Fitzgerald liked it.
October 25th, 2014 at 7:43 PM ^
But I think he's trying to light a fire under the players' asses because they have no fight left in them. The head coach just stands around and claps.
October 25th, 2014 at 9:30 PM ^
Clap...clap...clap
October 25th, 2014 at 7:44 PM ^
Agreed - seems like he forgot the score, but Speilman thought it showed we weren't giving up for whatever that's worth
October 25th, 2014 at 7:49 PM ^
I still have some hope for Nuss.
October 25th, 2014 at 8:09 PM ^
When we were down by 21 Speilman also thought our defense was doing s good job!
October 27th, 2014 at 6:11 PM ^
And no one thought Spielman was doing a good job. (any time he compliments UM it makes my skin crawl.)

What did Speilman think of our D when we were down by 21?
October 25th, 2014 at 9:28 PM ^
but only 14 of the 21 were on the defense (pick 6)
October 25th, 2014 at 10:36 PM ^
MSU went up 21-3 on Gardner's pick 6 - that wasn't the defense's fault. Except for the drive at the end of the first half, I thought the defense did a decent job with how little help it was getting from the offense - 2 net yards in the first half, only 10 minutes ToP, etc.
October 25th, 2014 at 7:18 PM ^
Look on the bright side! Hoke clapped a lot, and stuff...
October 25th, 2014 at 9:30 PM ^
From what I saw he didn't clap much, at least on TV. Looked a lot more like he was doing what I was, watching the game. It did appear that he was cursing a lot less than I was, however.
October 26th, 2014 at 1:41 PM ^
The camera cut to him clapping right after the pick six I think it was. We were shouting at the TV - WTF is he clapping at?? It must be a nervous condition - he finds the dog pooped in the living room, he claps. The wife turns away in bed - he claps. Gets in a fender bender - he claps. Bumps the pyramid of oranges at the grocery store and as they tumble around him, he claps. Clapping is the empty gesture of an empty man who feels he must do something so the world doesn't see him standing there looking like the loser he is.
October 25th, 2014 at 7:19 PM ^
can we fire this guy?
