If Weis is gone, any recruits we can "snake oil"?

Submitted by M-Wolverine on
With all the Weis is gone posts, I wondered....if per chance this is his last year, and they go through any sort of transition, are there any recruits either considering both ND and Michigan that would strengthens our chance of getting; any recruits we came in second to ND that have given a verbal to them; or any that we could just sway if they're lost and up in the air at the last minute? I mean, if we have to worry about the possibility that ND gets a good coach, we should at least get some recruits out of it... Edited: For stupidity

Lo Wood and a buddy (teamate?) of his that seemed to commit there after UM cooled on them. One guy I'd like to see might be Trevor Robinson--he committed to Nebraska, then renegged when they canned Callahan, but there seemed to be serious interest, and almost a coin flip, between ND and Michigan. The way I recall, his parents loved UM, but he liked ND. That one might could get interesting. He is either a soph there or a redshirt frosh IIRC. Edit: The other cat I'm thinking of is Spencer Boyd. Research is a helluva drug.

Guys who use "MGrad" or "UMALUM" or "MICHLAWGUY" as their board handles. I figure--why does a guy need to try so hard to get the world to believe he's a Michigan graduate--expecally when most of their posts are retarded? But you, sir, "physics guy" yes, YOU I believe--you seem to possess ALL the charm and sense of humor of a guy who will spend his life in a laboratory.

If he wins 8 or more games it seems to me there is no way he is gone. I just don't think they would subject themselves to the fallout unless they had a sure-fire replacement. Gruden? I suppose it could happen...what do you think?

I don't necessarily think he's gone either. I was more thinking on how it might effect us. So much so that I didn't even spell the bastard's name right. Points all around.

I think (believe) he had a mandate forced on him: BCS or buyout and bye bye. Like many have said, he is not exactly endearing, and he is not exactly in the early stages of a career there (Year 5). He has all HIS recruits and has HIS system totally in place. I mean, if they're satisfied with him--more power to them! He is a great examle of why ten-year contracts are a bad idea.

dont really think he is gone after this year, but the recruits that we were at one time interested in and have since committed to ND are blake leuders a four star DE, Tai-ler Jones four star WR, Lo Wood, Christian Lombard, and maybe spencer boyd and chris martin.

To answer your question, we've only offered a handful of Notre Dame commits: DE Chris Martin CB Spencer Boyd TE Alex Welch OT Christian Lombard WR Tai-ler Jones DE Blake Lueders Of those, we were never really in it with Martin, Jones, or Lueders. I think Lombard had some faint interest. The only two we might have a shot at are Boyd (whose final two were UM and ND) and Welch (who's one of only 3 tight ends we've offered), but it's pretty hard to gauge their potential interest at this point, since they've been committed for a while.

i'd imagine that, in general, notre dame wouldn't lose many defensive recruits if weiss was fired. tenuta is a great coordinator, and brown is a great recruiter. i can't imagined that they would be fired. offensively, if it's brian kelly, i'd be more worried about us losing recruits to them.
