(edit: OK confession time: I recently moved to Wisconsin and thought my computer had updated itself to central time. Well, turns out it didn't. It said 11:30 here so I thought it was 12:30 in Ann Arbor. On the other hand though, I just found out I gained an hour in my sub-conscience!)

It's great for the students, don't get me wrong. I would not complain about it if I were still a student, but "fall break" is ridiculous. They have all summer off (if they choose, of course), come to classes for what, a month? Then they get a "fall break" and then six or seven weeks later, Christmas break. The same goes for spring break, but that has been around for a long time. I don't really know how long fall break has been around. Spring break is more like a tradition now. At least with spring break, it's three months into classes starting from January. Fall break is a break a month or five weeks after summer vacation ends.
