I might have caused Michigan to lose these last two games.
During the past two weeks, I've been fortunate enough to watch the first half on the upstairs television, which is larger and newer than the one downstairs. At halftime of both the Illinois and Purdue games, however, I had to move downstairs, where the television is not as nice. Is it possible that this "shift" in game position of mine led to Michigan's second half breakdowns? Against Wisconsin and Ohio State I promise to watch the entire game in the basement. Sorry if I blew it.

Why did I click on this post?
November 11th, 2009 at 3:11 AM ^
Ever since I signed up for text updates from ESPN, they have yet to win a Big 10 game....
November 10th, 2009 at 4:52 PM ^
Is it possible that this "shift" in game position of mine led to Michigan's second half breakdowns?
Of COURSE it's possible. Way to go, you ruined it for everyone.
November 10th, 2009 at 4:52 PM ^
would have moved the tv downstairs for the 2nd half.
November 10th, 2009 at 4:52 PM ^
don't worry about it too much. i haven't been wearing my regular michigan football shirt the last 2 weeks either. and yes, it does make a difference on the field.
November 10th, 2009 at 4:53 PM ^
Identifying the problem is one step. Nice work. But there's work to do. Get moving.
November 10th, 2009 at 4:55 PM ^
No no no!!! If you watch the games on the downstairs TV we are doomed! Think about it, any time you watched it on that TV, we started to do poorly. It wasn't the shift, it was the tv itself. The downstairs TV is obviously cursed, you should dispose of it immediately! You should watch the entire game on the upstairs tv that we played well on (and is apparently a better tv - so bonus for you).
November 10th, 2009 at 4:59 PM ^
That downstairs TV has got to go. It's performance is UNACCEPTABLE. This is Michigan.
November 10th, 2009 at 5:01 PM ^
That TV is definitely not a Michigan man
November 10th, 2009 at 6:23 PM ^
there's no word from the upstairs TV. Its silence is deafening.
November 10th, 2009 at 10:40 PM ^
YEP!! If you're all in for Michigan, you would get rid of it.
I was unemployed weeks 1-4, I got a new job making 60,000 a year starting off starting MSU week. We have been 1-5 since, I quit and am now unemployed. ALL IN FOR MICHIGAN.
November 10th, 2009 at 4:55 PM ^
I might have to ask you to lock yourself in the basement for the next two weeks.
November 10th, 2009 at 5:00 PM ^
noooo... that's all the way downstairs!
November 10th, 2009 at 5:10 PM ^
there is any way he could somehow move the upstairs TV onto the roof? Perhaps the correlation is not necessarily the TV, but rather the elevation at which he watches the game. You can never be too careful.
November 11th, 2009 at 8:38 AM ^
I completely misunderstood the op. Sorry. You need to fill that basement with cement, block the stairs to the main level and get up on that damn roof and watch that game! Hell, if your neighbors house is higher you get on his roof! He will understand. Sorry for the mix-up.

On my way out to Iowa City I purchased an authentic Addidas #1 jersey to show support for my team. We proceeded to lose that game despite my shiny new jersey. Since that day I have sported the jersey for every single game with the exception of the Delaware State game, which I was unable to watch.
It is evident that my cursed jersey is contributing to our team's poor play on the field, but I have a difficult time not wearing something that (a) cost me $150 and (b) makes me look so darn good.
I keep telling myself to stay away, but every saturday morning I end up getting out of the shower, tossing on the jersey, and watching M football take it in the pooper. But at least I look good while watching.
November 10th, 2009 at 9:02 PM ^
burn that motherfucker
November 10th, 2009 at 10:51 PM ^
1. You can burn it; or
2. You can have the name Edwarter sewn on the back, which will cause our receivers to immediately become 1000% better than they have been.
November 10th, 2009 at 5:02 PM ^
I bought a $155 Forcier jersey just before the Penn State game. I shall burn it Friday.
November 10th, 2009 at 5:03 PM ^
I think I may have too. I have noticed a correlation between my fantasy team and Michigan football. Whenever my fantasy team loses, Michigan loses their next game. Good news though! I completely pwn'ed the 2nd place guy over the weekend. I am fully confident for this weekend. Go Blue!!
November 10th, 2009 at 5:09 PM ^
True Fact, when I run a certain route Saturday morning before a game UofM does extremely well.
2006: 9-0
2007: 7-0
2008: Changed my route completely
2009: 3-2

I bet it is the Bubble Screen.

Who said this famous quote
"Just throw it deep down the middle of the field and hope for a pass interference, don't you think?"
November 10th, 2009 at 5:11 PM ^
Of course you cost this team the last two games. DO NOT under any circumstances go downstairs. Forgo the TV if you must and listen on the radio or follow online. The team needs you, RichRod needs you...I need you. Pay your dues, and sacrifice for the good of this team.
November 10th, 2009 at 5:16 PM ^
You know the downstairs tv also makes an annoying beeping sound when I turn it off -- as if it's mocking me -- mocking Michigan.
November 10th, 2009 at 5:13 PM ^
I went to 2005 Ohio State game, 2008 Penn State game and 2009 Illinois game. And I am planning to go to this year's Ohio state game.
Should I go?
November 10th, 2009 at 5:15 PM ^
Just stay away from this team.
November 10th, 2009 at 5:24 PM ^
My last three years...
2007:
The Horror
Oregon
Wisconsin (annual road game)
2008:
Utah
Michigan State
Penn State (annual road game)
2009:
Western (yeah!!!)
Michigan State (road game, but not annual road game)
Iowa (annual road game)
Penn State
So my aggregate record the last three years is...
1-9
Good times!
November 10th, 2009 at 5:54 PM ^
Those of us subjected to both The Horror and the Oregon game should probably qualify for some sort of disability benefits.
November 10th, 2009 at 6:45 PM ^
your winning percentage can't drop much with future loss, but will double if they win the next game.
Got to like math working in your favor.
November 10th, 2009 at 10:47 PM ^
you could put on a red hat with a pot leaf on it and start attending games in Colombus?
November 10th, 2009 at 5:24 PM ^
I went to one game last year: Wisconsin.
I am going to one game this year: Ohio State.
Meet me in the endzone, bitches...
November 10th, 2009 at 5:28 PM ^
well i went to the Western, ND, and IND games this year...so i think you should not go to the game and mail your ticket to me!
November 10th, 2009 at 6:05 PM ^
You made some UNACCEPTABLE halftime adjustments.
November 10th, 2009 at 6:09 PM ^
it's all good. You have four more years to get it right. :)
November 10th, 2009 at 6:15 PM ^
I offset you for the Purdue game, so you're off the hook. I'd never been at the Big House for a loss, so you cancelled out my good karma. Someone else is clearly at fault here.
November 10th, 2009 at 6:18 PM ^
You're all crazy. The reason we're losing is because the tag got ripped off my lucky t-shirt. Obviously.
November 10th, 2009 at 6:20 PM ^
Personally, I'm beginning to wonder if the liveblog jinx doesn't also apply to football. Maybe we should try going CIL-free this Saturday.
November 10th, 2009 at 6:20 PM ^
The real question is what brand of TV will you be getting when the current one has to go at the end of the season?
November 10th, 2009 at 6:27 PM ^
Sorry, but I laid claim to the jinx when I met Tate while out to breakfast. I shook his hand, and although I am not carrying H1N1, I am cloaked in failure. That is terribly contagious.
November 10th, 2009 at 7:17 PM ^
from her work, and ever since i got it, we haven't won a game. (except for Del St) I'm seriously thinking of destroying it.
November 10th, 2009 at 7:19 PM ^
It seems we play better when your upstairs.
I have also been DVR'ing the games and not watching them since we lose. I just need to stop recording the games.
Maybe I should break out the out school VCR and fire that baby up.
November 10th, 2009 at 7:25 PM ^
I lost my lucky socks after Notre Dame. My lucky socks, formerly worn sparingly so that the magic wouldn't wear off, were used for Notre Dame this year, Wisconsin and Minnesota last year, and Michigan State and Florida in '07. Now, with them gone, they can never be used to swing the tide again (although they may not be that lucky, as I always wore them for OSU).
November 10th, 2009 at 7:59 PM ^
Unless you have been responsible for Michigan's defensive recruiting for the past 5 years, it is not your fault.
November 10th, 2009 at 9:36 PM ^
I've tried switching up my gameday ritual for the past 3 losses, and obviously nothing has worked. Perhaps I should try going without the alcohol this Saturday
November 10th, 2009 at 9:44 PM ^
Did your TV cause any carnage in Sri Lanka?
November 10th, 2009 at 9:54 PM ^
Last year at the halftime of the Wisconsin game a friend of mine said that if Michigan won, he'd buy a keg that night. He didn't buy a keg that night, the football gods were offended, and look where we are now.
November 10th, 2009 at 10:03 PM ^
RichRod is 1-0 lifetime as Michigan coach with me in the stands (last year Wisconsin game) and I'll be there this week. It's a lock.
November 11th, 2009 at 2:34 AM ^
I watched the 4-0 start here in Hawaii, however, returned to Michigan for the last 6 games, and we all know how those games have gone. I am now back in Hawaii!
November 11th, 2009 at 5:38 AM ^
Fact: Michigan is 5-0 this season in games to which I bring my ALL IN towel. Michigan is 0-5 in all games to which I do not bring my ALL IN towel.
sorry.
