Munchie Legaux to Colorado
November 9th, 2009 at 5:20 PM ^
His favorite receiving target committed there as well.. interesting.
"It was a place that needed me not wanted me," he said. "I want to be at a place that needs me and not a school that just wants to add me to a spot on the roster."
November 9th, 2009 at 5:22 PM ^
He wants them to need him.
November 9th, 2009 at 6:21 PM ^
+1, but after seeing Hawkins'play and no viable backup and UM having CoJo, DG, 'lace and Tate we don't need him but would have definitely taken him.

Cody already got benched a few weeks ago in favor of Tyler Hansen (who is I think a sophomore). The kid can play (good arm and mobility) and has already led them to wins over Kansas and Texas A&M (which considering where CU was to start the year is very impressive).
The biggest gripe among CU fans/alums (my best friend among them) is that Cody was playing when anyone with eyes could see that Hansen was the better option.
November 9th, 2009 at 9:37 PM ^
I didn't know he got benched a couple weeks back and I figured since he hadn't been benched they can't have a decent backup. Either way, the QB situation there is ten times better than it is here.
November 10th, 2009 at 1:09 AM ^
He burned Hansen's Red-shirt in the middle (game 6 or 7) of each of the last two years when he was obviously a better QB for that system, but wanted his son to get some time.
Not saying that Cody is terrible, but he is only about 5'10/11 and throws a shit ton of picks!
So this should be a good pickup for them since he (Hansen) only has 2 years left!
November 9th, 2009 at 9:33 PM ^
You had me at "hello"
November 10th, 2009 at 1:23 AM ^
This one goes out to Munchie.
November 9th, 2009 at 5:18 PM ^
Hey they have a QB finally!
November 9th, 2009 at 5:23 PM ^
He now gets to chuck passes to Toney Clemons who will drop them and then claim to much practice time. I understand why he couldn't say no to that!
November 9th, 2009 at 5:29 PM ^
Munchie we hardly knew you.
November 9th, 2009 at 5:30 PM ^
my dog's name is "munchy", so whenever i said that dude's name my dog would drop whatever he was chewing on.
ok, that was a lie.
November 9th, 2009 at 6:00 PM ^
Decommit? Yay!
November 9th, 2009 at 6:44 PM ^
He'll go play intramurals, brother.
November 9th, 2009 at 6:02 PM ^
with a name that cajun, he can't go outside of louisiana. he just... can't. come on, munchie. i bet La Tech would've needed you!
November 16th, 2009 at 10:52 PM ^
If ignorance is bliss you must be overwhelmingly happy....as I scroll the blogs and see the stupidity that is displayed by the ill-informed, I shake my head. My nephew, Munchie Legaux is a still a child and most of you are bleacher atheletes with zero experience...Munchie made a life-altering decision when the toughest decision most of you have to make each day is which cereal you're gonna eat for breakfast/lunch. I'm confident that he will make significant strides at CU both athletically and academically...and BTW Munchie LEGAUX is not cajun, he's Creole...so, get it right next time.....
November 17th, 2009 at 12:37 AM ^
Good luck to your nephew.
Hopefully he won't grow up to anonymously insult large groups of people on the internet like his uncle does.
November 17th, 2009 at 10:17 PM ^
"A wounded dog will holler"...my reply (the insult)was aimed at all who have "pecked" their negative thoughts towards a high school athlete trying to succeed at a sport he loves....no anonymity here, just pride in the accomplishments of my nephew; you would be too, if it were yours.
November 17th, 2009 at 11:32 PM ^
I wonder how many on here would be OK with insulting these 18 & 19 yo kids to their faces?
November 9th, 2009 at 6:11 PM ^
Colorado is 3-6. They'll probably finish 4-8 this fall after 5-7 last year.
Next year the Buffs should be better with freshman QB Legaux, Darrel Scott healthy at TB and former UM WR Toney Clemons in the lineup, right?
November 9th, 2009 at 6:21 PM ^
Scott has left the team and will transfer to UCLA. Scratching my head at this surprising recruiting news.
November 10th, 2009 at 1:13 AM ^
Is his Uncle still on staff? That was the only reason he went there. He did have a lot of Special Team yardage this year - but wanted the starring role!
November 9th, 2009 at 6:23 PM ^
Scott is (or most likely is) leaving to UCLA. Don't forget about Zion Babb I remember John U. Bacon stumping Brian and it was about Zion at CU
November 9th, 2009 at 6:41 PM ^
Tyler Hansen has started the last three games.
November 9th, 2009 at 9:35 PM ^
And you think times are tough in A2.
November 9th, 2009 at 6:20 PM ^
with Devin and Cornelus Jones coming in I guess he did not think that we needed a 5th string QB. Go figure.
November 9th, 2009 at 7:14 PM ^
You weren't even close on that one.
The name issue was cleared up weeks ago
"Cornelus"
Cornelius
Conelius
November 9th, 2009 at 6:27 PM ^
Never heard of him. I guess I was too busy watching the 2 freshmen with promise we have and DG waiting in the wings.
What would RR's conversations be like?
"Hey Munch, what's up? As I've told you before, we'd like you to come to Michigan. At the time, we have 2 freshman QB's that are very serviceable with tremendous upside. We also have a 5* recruit (DG) in your senior clas committed. This is a great chance for you to come in and compete to see what your made of. With that being said, feel free to look elsewhere as I need the roster space for LB's and Safeties. Good Luck next Friday against Baton ROuge Wesleyan."
November 9th, 2009 at 6:55 PM ^
I don't think the depth situation would be that dire for Legeaux.
Let's say, hypothetically, all 3 of DG, Munchie, and CoJo commit.
I could be wrong,, but I think ML is more highly touted than CoJo.
Let's say all 3 freshman redshirt and he beats out CoJo on the depth chart. At that point, as a redshirt freshman, he's 4th on the depth chart, maybe 3rd, because at that point, that depth at QB is maybe enough to move Shoelace to a Percy Harvin type role as a junior.
*If* Tate were to go pro after his junior year, DG and Legeaux are 1-2 the next year as redshirt sophs. If Tate stays 4 years, DG and Legeaux are 1-2 as redshirt juniors - getting a full 2 years as the 1 and 2 QBs. If Gardner went pro after his jr. year, Legeaux is looking at being M's starter his senior year, or, God forbid, is a DG injury away from being *the* guy.
In other words, it's not unrealistic to think that Legeaux, if he came here, will get significant playing time or even end up being the starter his senior year.
November 9th, 2009 at 7:10 PM ^
If a whole number of things happen, then ML could be the starter here for a year or two.
Or, he could go to Colorado and have a pretty high likelihood of playing for four years.
I'm gonna have to agree with his decision on this one.
November 9th, 2009 at 7:40 PM ^
Tyler Hansen will start at CU the next three years. He should have been the starter all along. He's gone 2-2 as the starter against Big 12 teams and one of those losses came when The Hawk idiotically put his crappy son back in the game against KSU (Cody promptly threw two picks preventing any chance of a comeback in a 20-6 loss). He's pretty talented and The Hawk has been a moron playing his own kid for this long.
November 9th, 2009 at 7:52 PM ^
Yeah. Any number of very feasible things.
If the incoming freshman redshirt, which likely will happen, that puts 2 years between them and Shoelace/Forcier.
That means Legeaux and DG are likely 1-2 going into their (redshirt) junior year.
If that isn't a promising playing situation... the chance to get developed in a good program with the prospect of seeing playing time and maybe even being the starter as an upperclassman, I don't know what is.
Plus, frankly - and go ahead and brand me a heretic - I'm not entirely sold on Gardner.
Plus, given the tendency towards entropy in college football... who knows what's going to end up going wrong and what/who will pan out and what/who won't, Legeaux's prospects of getting PT at Michigan aren't as awful as you might think.
November 9th, 2009 at 6:35 PM ^
He's going to get distracted by all those hippies there
November 9th, 2009 at 7:57 PM ^
For some reason, I feel bad for Hawkins. He always just looks so sad.
That is, when he's not getting ripped for them Colorado hotties.
Work it coach, work it.
November 9th, 2009 at 8:12 PM ^
we NEED you ~ Dan Hawkins
November 10th, 2009 at 12:26 AM ^
The only problem with Dan Hawkins as a coach is that he let his son play. I think that really let the entire team down. That and Colorado safeties are fucking horrible.
November 17th, 2009 at 11:10 PM ^
this isn't a big loss. he didn't project to defense, did he? we have enough rb's sr's and wr's in this class already.
November 18th, 2009 at 6:19 AM ^
We do have enough running backs, slot receivers, and wide receivers...
...which is completely irrelevant, since Legaux is a quarterback.
