DB couldn't even win this competition.
October 4th, 2014 at 9:30 AM ^
here's a look at the next award DB is up for
October 4th, 2014 at 2:53 AM ^
Was that email confirmed to be true? If it is and now it's on Espn that might do him in. The president has to be sick of all the negative press that follows that guy.
October 4th, 2014 at 3:21 AM ^
It has not been and Brian's pretty annoyed on Twitter.
October 4th, 2014 at 4:32 AM ^
Wow really? If this turns out to be photoshopped, I think Brian is going to send Ace after Wolverine Devotee to break his legs.
October 4th, 2014 at 8:55 AM ^
It's not. I swear to God I did not fake it or shop anything. And I'm a catholic.
Ace talked to my friend and did some digging.
October 4th, 2014 at 9:33 AM ^
You keep saying these things like it's evidence. "I swear to God and I'm a catholic" is not proof. "Ace did some digging" is not proof, especially when the result of that digging was that he couldn't confirm it.
October 4th, 2014 at 9:36 AM ^
Why should I even bother to say anything? My words are just going to be twisted around.
October 4th, 2014 at 10:51 AM ^
gets corroborated.
October 4th, 2014 at 12:14 PM ^
Dude. This isn't high school. You are genuinely playing with fire now. Better hope this is corroborated somehow.
October 5th, 2014 at 7:34 PM ^
This is not fire. You really seem to harbour some deep hatred. I suggest letting it go. It will mean absolutely nothing by... well... now.
October 4th, 2014 at 12:41 PM ^
unless you have some further/better evidence to prove your allegation--or make it more likely to be true--you really shouldn't bother to say anything more on the subject. Because right now you are simply repeating yourself. Try to prove it offline or wait for someone else to do so.
October 4th, 2014 at 9:35 AM ^
Well, since no catholic ever has lied while invoking the lord's name...I believe you.
I seriously do believe though, but because you seem like a straight up guy, not because you say your hail mary's.
October 4th, 2014 at 9:36 AM ^
Well I guess I was late to this party. At least I didn't come down on WD like BlastDouble up there. Yikes.
October 4th, 2014 at 10:53 AM ^
could do it all over . . .
Put it another way, is an Olbermann shout-out the BEST thing that could have happened, or the WORST . . .
October 4th, 2014 at 3:12 AM ^
Oh my fudging goodness he cited that fucking email thread. Wow.
Bad press for Brandon? Cool...but I'm not sure that was the way to go about it. That was just, weird.
October 4th, 2014 at 9:25 AM ^
It was on the fron page, I can see why a casual reader would thing Mgoblog was reporting it.
October 4th, 2014 at 10:29 AM ^
Yes but it wasn't "reported" as being fact, it was reported as being a claim made by one of the users.
October 4th, 2014 at 10:59 AM ^
Apparently so, but that doesn't excuse it.
October 4th, 2014 at 10:57 AM ^
if the post was fake, this will get Brandon's office cracking on those FOIA requests.
If we don't hear anything from those, I bet we can trust it.
If it comes down to Obermann having to admit he or his staff mis-read the front page, I wonder how Mgoblog-gate will end up?
October 4th, 2014 at 3:14 AM ^
the Olbermann show "worst person on sports"? If so and ESPN is citing a post made here.....wow.
October 4th, 2014 at 3:27 AM ^
Olbermann is even worse than we are..."Lithuania? I wonder if he meant to say "Bolivia?" After all, he did have a few MGoBlog references there.
October 4th, 2014 at 3:49 AM ^
Lithuanian chicks are pretty hot. There are worse places.
October 4th, 2014 at 3:29 AM ^
Oh man, this week could not have been worse. It all could have been avoided.
October 4th, 2014 at 4:03 AM ^
Did ESPN just use WD's post, the veracity of which has yet to be confirmed, as evidence of DB's problems at Michigan? Brandon has enough strikes against him; they don't really have to use something that could very easily be photoshopped, but it's probably just as difficult to disprove as prove, so they aren't worried about looking stupid.
October 4th, 2014 at 4:17 AM ^
Journalistic integrity aside... Are we REALLY THAT MAD that a potential unproven quote from DB might've been used against him?
TBH we're all happy inside.
October 4th, 2014 at 7:49 AM ^
At the very least, it certainly expresses the attitude that a number of his actions have already communicated towards UM fans and alumni. For the ESPN viewers who are watching from the outside, it conveys the message quite simply and directly.
On the other hand, if it was a photoshop, WD must be at least a tad enthused to have his work featured on ESPN.

Dan Rather used when he fabricated evidence during the 2004 presidential race.
October 4th, 2014 at 7:52 AM ^
No, that would be fine. This is one of those things that, even if not actually true, probably should be true. It resonates with the general truth.
However, the legitimate concern is that someone might use this against MGoBlog. As Brian pointed out in his tweets, this was NEVER reported by MGoBlog. It was only discussed in a comment thread. However, the critics may be conveniently unable to distinguish these things (probably because they have no idea how blogs work). I would hate to see Brian falsely accused of anything if this story turns out to be less than true. He and the blog had nothing to do with pushing this story.
October 4th, 2014 at 8:03 AM ^
I'm trying to think of the negative consequences for Brian. What could happen?
Firstly, he didn't endorse it, and seems to have made himself clear about the unverified veracity of the email.
Secondly, the current MGOcommunity seems to understand what's going on here. If so, that wouldn't wane.
Furthermore, those with no clue how the blogosphere works don't seem to be potential readers; if a few more noses peeked at the blog because of it, that couldn't hurt.
I'm assuming the worry here is that other media outlets or the AD itself might not take the time to sort out the details and just ostracize Brian & the fine staff of actual sports journalists we have here as a knee-jerk reaction to a pretty strong allegation (especially if spurious). We all know the kind of slop that can be passed for journalism out there, and bad-mouthing another source could provide them with drama and clicks.

I see Brian as Luke and Ace as Wedge. The rebel alliance around here can take a beating and keep coming back. They all know this is where fans love to be. Shit every year we all raise money for a kickstarter. ALOT of it. The support here will never die as long as Brian keeps putting out quality content. Even if they get attacked by the school, pretty sure that will boost the site even more.
October 4th, 2014 at 9:42 AM ^
I don't think anything would actually HAPPENn to the Blog. I just mean that I would prefer it not to get any bad press, regardless of how stupid that press would be. On the other hand, I would love the blog to get credit for all the good things it does and have that recognized.
October 4th, 2014 at 10:50 AM ^
October 4th, 2014 at 11:01 AM ^
do you think Olbermann would be about admitting he and/or his staff mis-read his source here?
October 4th, 2014 at 12:38 PM ^
Zero.
October 4th, 2014 at 12:54 PM ^
Olbermann is a douche, and this is just more confirmation of that fact. It's one thing to say it was posted to a blog, but to say it's "reported" by MGoBlog is an outright lie and as journalists, he and his staff should (and I'm sure do) know better.
October 4th, 2014 at 4:01 PM ^
Is the biggest fucking tool bag and needs a spin kick to the head. I cant believe he is anywhere to be heard.
October 4th, 2014 at 4:18 AM ^
... Sir David Brandon, Michigan Gentleman, gives a pip less about the peons...
To satisfy the Michigan Men Stand By their Michigan Men cohort, I suggest that we, the Michigan Men Don't Leave Men on the Field crowd, take up the proposition of judging Hoke on his W-L record at year end.
Post-OSU, when Hoke is judged, and subsequently relieved, all the Hoke supporters can follow Hoke out the door.... After all, if Hoke is their man and is a "great coach, great man" then surely they have no use for a Michigan institution which believes Hoke isn't fit to coach the UMich football team.
October 4th, 2014 at 4:35 AM ^
WD on Olbermann lmao
October 4th, 2014 at 4:47 AM ^
Well I'll be damned - if it isn't Wolverine Devotay stirring up trouble on the Mblog.
October 4th, 2014 at 8:21 AM ^
Not for the first time.

Brandon loves being famous, doesn't he? Now he is!
October 4th, 2014 at 6:14 AM ^
Hey no such thing as bad publicity, right? ... right? No? Oh.
October 4th, 2014 at 6:22 AM ^
When he wakes up and sees this I think he's gonna faint.
Man I'm jealous - I wish I had come up with some really cool unsubstantiated rumor and got on national TV too.
By the way-this is going make his YouTube kerfuffle with Wolverine Historian and Thorin look like small potatoes......
October 4th, 2014 at 6:27 AM ^
...according to mgblog, this was athletic director David Brandons reply...
Yeah, not really how attribution works in the internet age ESPN
October 4th, 2014 at 10:54 AM ^
Yeah, according to the Sony Corporation, who made my TV set, Shane Morris did not have a concussion during the Minnesota game.
