stonum record

Submitted by TrppWlbrnID on

from the det news:

"He has had 30 returns this season for 803 yards, passing Steve Breaston in both categories. Breaston had 689 yards on 28 returns in 2004"

not so much a look at kickoff records, but at how often teams are scoring against michigan.

Well, it does say something that he got it with two games left, but if you look at the average it's still pretty impressive.

Breaston: 24.6 YPR

Stounum: 26.7 YPR

If only Stonum could return punts like Steve.

It may say something about opponents' scores, but keep in mind that in 2004, teams were still kicking off from the 35-yard-line, resulting in more touchbacks. Also, Stonum is really bold about returning kicks that travel into the endzone. He's only taken a knee a handful of times all year.
