For me it's "New Dawn Fades" by Joy Division.

A change of speed, a change of style.
A change of scene, with no regrets,
A chance to watch, admire the distance,
Still occupied, though you forget.
Different colours, different shades,
Over each mistakes were made.
I took the blame.

I was thinking Girlfriend in a Coma, but Miserable Lie and Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now also work. And if you alter Panic just slightly to "Hang the DB"...

Could also throw in What Difference Does it Make and Never Had No One Ever.

Toward the end of the season when the coaching search talk is (presumably) in full swing, I'm sure we'll have more than our fill of Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want, maybe a little This Charming Man, and (of course more) I Want the One I Can't Have.

A couple years ago I did a season review using Iron Maiden songs. I'm considering doing the same thing for this season, but every game would be summed up by this song. (Except the first game, I'd use Hey Porter by Cash. There's so much hopeful anticipation captured by that song. And then it's all pain.)
