Sounds about right.
September 30th, 2014 at 6:11 PM ^
Did anyone actually organize anything or just a bunch of people showing up?
September 30th, 2014 at 6:18 PM ^
I think you should just get a couple girls to try and start a toppless show.
September 30th, 2014 at 7:53 PM ^
You mean to tell me something started on the internet by a bunch of anonymous people would fizzle out when push came to shove?
Shocking.

WD: you should get on a bench and get everyone's attention, then lead a march to the president's house and chant "fire brandon" on his lawn.
September 30th, 2014 at 6:12 PM ^
This.

I doubt he knows where the president's house is.

Just got home from work. Was WD the leader of it?
September 30th, 2014 at 8:28 PM ^
Unfortunately the kid doesn't think he belongs at Michigan, so he wasn't going to get up and do it. I'm glad they got it together though. That was good.

for democracy, living wages, etc., I can't help but think that this may be the most "first world problem" thing out there.

Get back inside the Ford School, you hippie! It's dangerous out there!

THIS IS MICHIGAN!!!
September 30th, 2014 at 6:57 PM ^
For me I'm laughing at the non-alum who are protesting on a college campus against a univesity administrator.
Talk about manufacturing a righteous cause.
September 30th, 2014 at 7:35 PM ^
Cry about it.

Perhaps my favorite WD post ever.

When it comes to any huge state school, there are far more passionate people involved than just the former/student body. After all, the entirety of A2 will be voting on your Reagents next month, and likely, by percentage, barely any actual students/alums will take part in that decision.
But back to the football program... people were raised to have a passion for this school in exaclty the same way people are raised into specific religions or political parties. That's just the way it is at a school like Michigan, and if that passion weren't there OUTSIDE of the student body, the student body itself would likely be a lot smaller, the school would be a lot less prominent, and pretty much the whole of the Uni would be pretty inconsequential. I'm extremely proud of the top-tier school I went to too, but no one even knows the name of the AD at my school - including me. Be proud of your school and the fact that you go there, but don't assume the rest of the state of Michigan doesn't also have a passion and a stake in it.
September 30th, 2014 at 7:49 PM ^
I am not an elitist, and any one can be a fan, yadda yadda yadda...
what cracks me up is driving to campus to protest.
September 30th, 2014 at 8:14 PM ^
1. I have absolutely no problem with umich students/alums being elitists. You went to Michigan; you have earned the right to brag!! I am NOT one of those people who believes all schools are created equal (and I've come to the conclusion, now that I'm out in the "professional" world, that the people who DO think that... went to a shitty school). ;)
But 2. When it comes to the football program it really is all about the fans. You could have a fantastic football team but if it doesn't have a following it becomes one of those 'if no one sees it, it didn't happen' situations. And Michigan fans are passionate so I, as someone who also grew up in that culture, can't begrudge them that passion.
And 3. Frankly, anyone who'd be willing to DRIVE to downtown Ann Arbor deserves some kind of recognition for their dedication to this Program. The only thing worse in A2 than the current state of Michigan's football program is the reigning-champ shit show that is Ann Arbor parking!
EDIT: but I will admit that what you're saying isn't lost on me. I was just raised in a 'border town' where Michigan-love peaks out at full blown 'crazy', so I guess I can understand those people, even if I wouldn't drive down/do that myself.

Was this a Brady Hoke prepared rally? Because this is nearly as pathetic as the actual team.
September 30th, 2014 at 6:15 PM ^
I hear "FUCK OHIO" chants from the livestream. Classy.
September 30th, 2014 at 6:16 PM ^
for serious, somebody needs to lead this to the president's lawn, chant "come out schlissel" until he shows up, and then chant "fire brandon" for a while until he asks for quiet and again promises the students directly that he will take care of things.
September 30th, 2014 at 6:22 PM ^
actually lives there...I think I read something about that.
September 30th, 2014 at 6:30 PM ^
camp out there long enough and he'll show up
September 30th, 2014 at 6:16 PM ^
How hard is it to just chant FIRE BRANDON over and over again??
COME ON.
September 30th, 2014 at 6:17 PM ^
Also, the livestream sucks.
September 30th, 2014 at 6:17 PM ^

That if they attended they would have to line up like cattle for hours before giving them their assigned standing areas for the protest.
