Pretty clear where Brandon stands

Submitted by BlueinLansing on

as far away from Brady Hoke as possible. Way to stand behind your guy in a time of intense national scrutiny.

@JoshuaHenschke tweeted Brandon wasn't at today's press conference.  Amazing.

Maybe he's been informed by his superiors to stay out of the spotlight? It's possible, and if it were the case, could indicate he's gone. Lets hold onto that...

Well if he was there somebody might have asked him a question.  Brandon has to be loving all the negative focus being on Hoke right now. It masks the other issues and possibly could be setting up Hoke as the fall guy for the attendance issue. I can see it now.

He has to at this point.  He is hoping that some how Hoke's and his own fates are not tied together.  He might figure that if he can distance himself fire Hoke and then hire a homerun it might save his job.

I think he is wrong but I also thought Hoke was a good hire...so

IMO, DB would only distance himself from Hoke if Hoke were the sacrificial lamb. That means DB is sticking around to choose the next coach. Good times, man. Good times. Ugh.

What an asshole.  Seriously.  If that's true, what an unaccountable, cowardly dick.  Our coaches certainly aren't helping, but I'm convinced that this program's problems are rooted squarely in our AD's office.

I don't know why anyone would expect him to be there. What is he going to say that would help/clarify the situation?

That's it?  So you're pissed that Brandon didn't come to the presser to confirm that the statement Hoke just said will be released will actually be released?  There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of value in that.

Accountability for what?  David Brandon had nothing to do with what happened Saturday and had a lot less information than Hoke did about the sequence of events.  Putting him out there makes no sense practically or from a PR standpoint.

Anyways, no sense in arguing about it because based on what's posted above, it looks like he (mercifully) will not be around much longer.

I actually feel a bit bad for Hoke on this one.  As much as I want him fired immediately his boss, the guy who hand-picked him to lead the program and has not publically indicated any change from his initial assessment, has deserted him and left him to face this shit-storn alone and that's just not right.

Hoke may be a complete idiot but he's YOUR complete idiot Dave and the humane thing to do right now is stand by him and not leave him to twist in the wind alone.  As the saying goes "adversity doesnt mold character, it reveals it."

There has been absolutely no leadership in this fiasco from the athletic department. This is the biggest "scandal" to hit Michigan football in years, and yet the athletic director is not out front leading the charge. He's hiding. Which is very surprising because normally Dave likes to be the face of everything around Michigan athletics

He first sends out a lawyered up press statement taking no responsibility for anything while concocting some explanation for what happened.  Then, he hides under a rock until the shitstorm of negative publicity in the media subsides.  Then, he emerges and acts like nothing bad has happened.   Early in his tenure, I think he was better about standing up and addressing things.  But now, he's gotten paranoid because he knows almost everyone but his wife, kids, and dog hate him.

I happen to agree with Turd, where is this guy when you need him.  Oh, he comes out when there is good news and disappears when there is bad news.  Is he the leader of the AD?  I dont care where he is, he has to represent and his no where to be be found.  No more self righteous talks, we need a leader.

It really surprised me to see that Brady hadn't talked to DB in a few days. I work in athletics, and my boss (the AD) talks to his coaches daily, especially those struggling. I mean this is the time when you should be communicating...unless he already gave up on you, which could be true. This just feels like another screw up from DB.
