Michigan releases response... Can't say that I'm surprised

Leaving Hoke out there to twist in the wind?

"The University of Michigan has a distinguished group of Certified Athletic Trainers and team physicians who are responsible for determining whether or not a player is physically able to play. Our coaches have no influence or authority to make determinations if or when an injured player returns to competition."

I genuinely don't ever recall feeling rage or my blood boiling about Michigan football. This is a new feeling.
September 28th, 2014 at 8:51 PM ^
What a joke. Fuck off Michigan
September 28th, 2014 at 9:10 PM ^
But that's my reaction exactly. What a pile of horseshit. No mention at all of the head injury, and acts as if trainers are the ones responsible. Nussmeier for sure saw Morris woozy; not clear about Hoke. If anything I worry Nuss will be scapegoated and Fort BrandHoke refortified. F them all. Hoke is responsible and admits nothing. Not my idea of the 'Michigan Man'. Stephen Ross, are you still proud of this program?
September 28th, 2014 at 9:14 PM ^
Ross support = cronyism. 2 rich guys, personal acquaintances, mutual crowds they shuffle in.
You guys cannot let these types of perverse influences determine the course of the program.
September 28th, 2014 at 9:17 PM ^
dangerously man. Actually using "f them all" on a random message board.
September 28th, 2014 at 8:51 PM ^
Thanks. I couldn't find the full thing and wanted to get the news out there.

"further aggravating an injury to his leg"
Wait... what? Leg?
Did they say leg?
OH. MY. GOODNESS.
This is from The Onion, surely?
September 28th, 2014 at 8:52 PM ^
the authority? Now thats pathetic, take responsibility!
September 28th, 2014 at 9:18 PM ^
They are trying to say coaches don't have the authority to overrule medical personel. If the team doctor says a player is out he is out, no matter what.
September 28th, 2014 at 10:04 PM ^
Simple solution, you keep the team doctor away from the player.
Hoke: "Hey Doc! I think Shane a-- OMG LOOK ELVIS!" *runs away with Shane*
September 28th, 2014 at 9:15 PM ^
This is very NFL/Goodell like in that they are saying they know more than the fans who all watched the game and we are wrong to question them on this subject.
Here's the flaw in this... The film doesn't lie. We all saw it. We're not dumb. I am tired and I don't think I can debate any more right now. We're all in for a lot of BS this week and @davebrandon and Hoke will be flinging it strong at our great intelligent fan base. Let's stand up and make some statements that they can't ignore on Saturdays. Don't go to the games. Stop following them on social media and stop buying Coke...okay maybe not the Coke thing because I need my Coke fix for work.
September 28th, 2014 at 9:23 PM ^
Guys I found the original document that Brandon/Hoke wanted to release to the press before higher ups had a look and decided to "lawyer it up".

I'm MGoBlogian, your media mind tricks won't work on me.
September 28th, 2014 at 9:40 PM ^
Good God that is a pathetic response. I don't see how this does anything but fan the PR fire. How fucking stupid does the AD think we are?
September 28th, 2014 at 10:21 PM ^
Have you not been paying attention? They think we are very stupid.
This is the same AD that gave us the Orwellian "retail activation" as an excuse for the Coke giveaway fiasco.
September 28th, 2014 at 10:11 PM ^
and I unfortunately do not mean this in a good way. This is what happens when the unqualified is asked to do something so far above their level, the wheels come off and go every direction. Honestly, what could be next?
September 28th, 2014 at 8:49 PM ^
Nothing to see here.
September 28th, 2014 at 8:49 PM ^
I've lived in central Ohio for around 9 years now. Am I officially allowed to become a Buckeye fan?
September 28th, 2014 at 8:53 PM ^
Let's not do anything we might regret
September 28th, 2014 at 9:20 PM ^
Totally agreed, I was discussing this with a friend today and I jokingly asserted that I was going to start rooting for the Lions instead, he was quick to pull me off the edge.
September 28th, 2014 at 10:06 PM ^
Those are your 3-1 (1-0) DETROIT LIONS!!!

If only we could switch teams like a light switch. It doesn't work that way though.

to Western Ohio; it is a more solid OSU environment.

Not unless your parents were related.
September 28th, 2014 at 8:51 PM ^
And I'm confident these people are pretty much even more clueless than we thought.
September 28th, 2014 at 8:51 PM ^
So our official statement is that he was removed from a game due to injury (or even better an aggrevation of an injury he sustained earlier) that his coach stated emphatically he didn't see?
September 28th, 2014 at 8:51 PM ^
Welp they're gonna go down swinging

Surprise, surprise. They have no intention of firing him before season's end, if then.
September 28th, 2014 at 8:52 PM ^
We should have Slippery Rock open threads the rest of the season until Hoke and Brandon are gone.
September 28th, 2014 at 8:52 PM ^
Arrogant or tone deaf? I can't decide.

September 28th, 2014 at 8:52 PM ^
Wow! No mention of a jarring blow to the head or any following of concussion protocol!?
Do they really think this will just go away if they sweep it under the rug?
September 28th, 2014 at 8:54 PM ^
That went away, right?!
