What are you drinking tonight, and is it enough?
I owe the collective dog pack of MGoBlog a heartfelt apology for all the snarky and dismissive comments I've made in the recent past about "what are you drinking" threads. Mea culpa, and mea gulpa.
To the point: A double Absolute Peppar martini with blue cheese olives. I will probably have another.
And yes, Voltron, I was looking forward to your neg. No MGoBlog post is complete without it. It's like ants at a picnic, and mosquitos at a campsite—you just accept it as part of the environment.

I haven't decided yet and no it is not enough.

All of the wine in the house. Not even close.

I assume that's yours in the avatar. Husky? Female? Is she/he stubborn?
September 27th, 2014 at 9:16 PM ^
Siberian Husky. Probably not pure-bred but if mixed then not by much. That picture is pretty recent and he's a 4-year old male.
Wife and I were lucky, both of us have had huskies before and he's by far the best behaved we've seen. And by that I mean, he'll listen to us about two-thirds of the time. When he sets his mind to something though (walk/dog park/baying at the moon), there's no convincing him otherwise.

LOL.
Our first dog was a combo of Shepherd-Husky-Beagle, and while he was a loving dog, he shed like a shepherd, had the crazy nose drive of a beagle, and the dismissive/indifferent attitude of a Husky.
Love the Husky eyes.

Is that you?

Double post.
September 27th, 2014 at 9:37 PM ^
Amen to that. I owned a half-husky, half-beagle mix. Beautiful dog, compact, powerful and a fast runner. But get a scent drifting by, and forget it... He'd drag 20' of chain and a doghouse behind him to go find out what it was.

I had a couple of small glasses' worth left in a bottle of Leelanau Cellars Baco Noir. I think I'll switch over to the aquavit that a friend brought me back from Sweden.

to the tasting room on Leelanau Peninsula and bought about 8 bottles between the two of us. I've still got two more that I'm saving for special occasions (particularly the port).

Everyone can come over and be sad together.
September 27th, 2014 at 9:12 PM ^
And Yes!
September 27th, 2014 at 9:15 PM ^
because Michigan football and alcohol seem to go together especially well right now.
Except myself, of course. That's perverted.

Because although you can be irascible from time to time, I like your style and your commentary.

Because to be honest with you, I'm not drinking anything tonight. I'm just not that upset anymore (I'm plenty upset with Brandon generally and what happened to Morris today in particular - for his sake alone - but not with the football team).
It became abundantly clear to me last year that this team was badly coached from top to bottom. The numbness just never went away. After the ND game this year, I realized that it's just better to avoid the games altogether.
Really, it's not even Brady Hoke's fault. There comes a point when you realize that someone who is unconsciously incompetent, but also refuses to acknowledge his weaknesses or blind spots, is simply in the wrong job. Of course he should be fired. It should have happened long ago.
Nope, this one falls squarely on Dave Brandon. He wanted this guy as his head coach. Well, he got him and paid top dollar. Brandon should be fired.

Diet Mt. Dew, and so far it is enough to keep me searching for viable coaching candidates.

how 'bout we switch from something in the periodic table to something that just involves an alteration of consciousness rather than imminent death? Like absinthe, or green chartreuse?

Keweenaw Ore Dock and Pickaxe Blonde, Arbor brewing Bliss Hefeweisen, Hofbrau Oktoberfest, it being enough remains to be seen.

You are forgiven. Welcome to the family.
Kelso Industrial Pale Ale. 11.5%, the dude told me as my growler was just about full. Like a certain coach, I am gone.

Scotch. Surprisingly good.
And no, it doesn't help. I feel a lot of dispair for the Michigan program right now. It's in complete and utter shambles and it's clear changes need to be made. But...change to what? I don't want another decade of mediocrity. PLease, God, no.
But this scotch is delicious, you guyz. Seriously.

I am familiar with Famous Grouse scotch with I think is the #1 selling scotch is Scotland. It is a great buy for the money, every bit as good as scotch almost twice the price.
Not familiar with Black Grouse - is it related?

September 27th, 2014 at 10:16 PM ^
A glass of red wine. It was the least I've drank on a Saturday in a long time. I took the wife out for dinner before the game was wrapped up. I think I'm done with football on Saturday afternoons. I love the team but is just making Saturdays miserable. I ended up having a nice day when it was all said and done.

I just woke up from what my wife described as a 45-minute "nap" from the first round drinking, and that was just a combination of wine and some beer (nothing fancy - Sutter Home White Merlot and then some Blue Moon), so while I have perhaps had enough by some standards, I am not sure that this is the case in reality.
