Dong Punch.

On repeat.

Tough couple of years, but we've got 2010 to look forward to...

On the bright side (well, it's more like a faintly lit candle in a pitch black warehouse) Warren hasn't shown me, and I'm assuming the NFL scouts as well, anything that should make him anything higher than a 4th round pick - maybe 3rd if he explodes in the last 2 games but comparing him to previous UM shutdown corners he's just not having the kind of year that will get you into the first round and especially with the UM defense being, arguably, the reason we're 5-5 and not 8-2 I can't see the NFL liking anyone for a decent pick not named Brown.

Total brain fart - my bad. That's who I meant. Brain is still in shock - just amazed at a missed extra point combined with a missed FG (although that was a toughie so understandable) and then the 4th and 10 decision to go for it.

Why am I not blaming the defense? Well, to quote "they are who we thought they were," which, in and of itself, is rather depressing :(

Take the middle 7 minutes or so out of the 3rd quarter and we practically blow them out. Do that last game and we have a chance there too.

Maybe it's because of the metaphysical cup I put on over my soul dong before the game, but this one doesn't seem as bad as last week.

How in the hell is this not as bad as last week?

a) Purdue is better than Illinois.

b) Purdue beat Ohio State too (living in Ohio I can tell you it's already proven to be an effective comeback).

c) We moved the ball for the second straight game.

d) To coin another phrase, last week recalibrated my expectations. If you expect the dong punch the wind doesn't get knocked out of you as bad.

It was a dong punch for sure, especially since we were so close, but we actually did some decent things. The offense put up points passing and running, the defense created some turnovers, Roundtree continued to make plays, etc. It sucks to have our best shot at bowl eligibility tanked by a few bad plays (Forcier bad pitch, missed PAT, onsides kick, etc.), but I still think we can win one of our remaining games and I definitely think we can do some damage next year.

why there isn't any passion on this team. Where are our leaders? How is it that no one gets fired up when they get down? It seems like something bad happens and they deflate. I want so badly to see somebody step up and get into people's faces and motivate guys.

Everything that could possibly go wrong in a football game goes wrong for Michigan....for the past 5 years. We can talk all we want about defense sucks, this guy sucks, that guy sucks, blown coverage etc....But the bottom line is, when is the last time Michigan had a bounce go their way? Seriously, it's like this team is jinxed.

Crazy fumbles, goal line stands turning games around, missed extra points. Don't get me wrong...this is not a good team by any means, but seriously...how many times can the universe conspire against you?

Yeah, RR makes some crappy calls, Tate makes dumb mistakes, etc...But its like Michigan pays ten fold for every error they make...its ridiculous.

This is just dumb. You notice all these things only because the team is losing or playing so poorly, all the "bad" breaks become salient and something for you to blame. They happen no more to our team than any other. Enough with the bad breaks, bad refs, this team and coaching staff just outright suck right now.

We didn't lose much last year to graduation/departures. The year of seasoning from 2008-2009 was bound to outweight the departures of Taylor, Jamison, Johnson, and Trent. (The D-line, fortunately, kept Graham and had some depth.) This year, we will be losing key players that leave vacuous gaps in their wake. Graham, Minor, Brown S, Brown C, Mathews, Ortmann, Mesko, and maybe Warren are key contributors.

Maybe in a normal year, losing Graham, Warren, and Brown S wouldn't be so bad, but when you increase the number of defensive "holes" from five to eight, the outlook is bleak.
(I expect a few players to surprise on the upside to fill those holes. Eight, no way.)
