Gregg Henson: Sources- Dave Brandon next domino to fall

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Saw this in the thread below this one.

http://gregghenson.com/new-information-on-the-new-michigan-coach-and-ad/

This was just posted 20 minutes ago. He details his sources (without naming them), talks about the Regents not being DB's corner anymore and that they will not pursue a new HC without a new AD.

My three separate sources tell me that the next domino to fall is Brandon.  He must go before any potential football coach can be approached as he totally botched the Hoke hire, never offering the gig to Miles or either Harbaugh.  As a matter of fact, he never even returned calls to Les Miles when he was interested.  In his mind Hoke was the only option from day one.

The two names surfacing in the AD hunt are Ward Manuel the AD at Uconn and Brad Bates, the current AD at Boston College.

I easily created a thread on my phone a few weeks ago. It's quite simple, actually. All you need to do is open your Internet browser, type "www.mgoblog.com" in the address bar, and select "enter" or "go." Then all you need to do is press the link titled "create content" and create your thread there. It's AMAZING!!!!

Its a good point about Brandon. If he's going to go, he needs to go now to get his replacement in place before any potential coaching hire.

I think there is ample ground to let him go:

1) Obviously pissing off football season ticket holders with massive price increases

2) Turning Michigan Stadium into a circus/club etc.

3) Students......obvious

4) Along with Hoke, name any coaching hire that Brandon has made that has really worked? Maybe the women's basketball coach and the Bakich with baseball is recruiting well but I don't see any banners from his hires. Aside from Hoke, a couple of sports including men's soccer are heading backwards despite new facilities and new coaches.

5) His adding 20 new fundraisers and chasing after donors who traditionally have been academic side donors has ticked off academic campus.

6) He didn't have many friends on the Board of Regents when he was their colleague.

I just wonder who has to authorize the hit? I would assume the new President has to be involved in this and I'm not sure he knows enough about athletics nor is ready to deal with this considering he's only been here two months.

Is 3G still considered a relevant source of info in Detroit sports?  I've been out on the West Coast for the last 10, and I know he has bounced around since his old WDFN days.

3G (from Art Regner) was the first to report that Hoke would be the next coach and that was weeks before we played the Gator Bowl. I honestly think Brandon is done. He'll probably resign before he gets fired, but it's over for him.

he tied himself too closely to Hoke. His silence in recent days is deafening. And the backlash against his insanely aggressive marketing of an increasingly empty product has grown and grown.

If Hoke is going and any kind of meaningful hunt for a new coach is to take place, then a quiet careful conversation--one that includes the landscape of MODERN college football--is going to have to take place. Brandon is in every way incapable of conducting such an honest search.

I see real hope here.

Wasn't he going to run for governor?  Guess that option is gone now.  He failed so thouroughly at Michigan that he caused himself to lose viability in local politics.  Eye for an eye right there...

At first I thought: "Gregg Henson, the Catch a Preditor guy?"

Then I realized it wasn't Chris Hansen, and I thought that was funny and was going to post something.

Then I went to post something, and then realized it was in bad taste because of the PSU thing.

And now I'm conflicted because I honestly did get the names mixed up but it's also in poor taste. It's really made me think a lot.
