if they continue. It's been Michigan's biggest limitation IMO over the last few years.

Shane Morris throws so well that receivers can't catch his passes even when the ball hits them in the hands.

Lefty ball spin moves differently. /s, I think.

It's why they don't play gridiron (American football) in the Southern Hemisphere.

Green's vision really improved somewhere in the 2nd quarter.

He had one big run where I thought he'd made a great cut to get outside to daylight, but during the replay I realized he'd run away from a giant hole, forcing himself to dodge a guy to get outside in the first place. Miami (NTM) might just be so bad that his vision was irrelevant.

I don't remember him missing holes against App St. at all, nor do I remember anyone else saying he did.

How bad do you think the funchess injury is?
September 13th, 2014 at 6:49 PM ^
Total speculation: out against Utah, back for Big Ten play.
Basing this on how he was able to touch the banner and celebrate TD's, but was still a bit limpy and obviously didn't dress for the game.
September 13th, 2014 at 7:07 PM ^
I completly agree. At this point, I don't see this Michigan team making the playoff. WIth that said, the B1G Ten Championship is still attainable and very imporatant for the team.
I would rest everyone that even remotely needs it against Utah. If the difference between Michigan winning or losing against Utah next week is 100 percent dependant on Funchess playing, then this team is in trouble for the rest for the year IMO.
I didn't see Funchess in a boot or in terrible pain, rest him against Utah and he should be 100 percent come B1G time.

making the playoff?

bit of Nostradamus in him.

B1G title? look, i'm a huge michigan fan and say stupid things and make stupide predictions every year, but there is no way in hell either of those things are happening. I thought they wuld win 10 at beginning of the year, but i think right now the ceiling is 8 wins.

Offense is still having too many breakdowns and the play calling occasionally is horrible.
September 13th, 2014 at 6:50 PM ^
were the only guys on the field who mad plays. Darboh and Chesson just didn't look that great. Green really impressed me, ran with good vision, made nice cuts and finally broke a tackle or two and churned his feet through contact. If he continues running like that and adds in a stiff arm, he's clearly our best back.

They look like "shot puts" is the best way to describe it.
Devin could have easily had 2 more INT today - the Butt pass and on the first drive he lofted one out wide that a superior CB would have returned for a pick 6 after a 95 yard run.
I think Devin is what he is at this point and we are not going to see a different man this year. There will be turnovers, and they will be costly. I hope most are on the other side of the field. If we had a JR or SR backup I'd advocate for a switch as I think having 50% less turnovers is more important than losing some dynamic game play. I also don't see the same runs as last year, maybe by design but his foot speed doesnt seem quite the same as last year. I expected him to explode past MAC level defenders and it is not happeing. Maybe the foot injury robbed him of some speed.

He looks like he's jumping on too many of his throws. You can see both feet leave the ground.

I've been a huge Gardner supporter but I'm starting to agree. Something just looks off. Morris is so decisive with the football. I'm not giving up on Gardner but he just doesn't seem to handle pressue well.

Pretty sure he stood tall in the pocket on one of his balls that was dropped. I think pocket presence is one of Shane's clear advantages over DG. There was a play in the first half where DG has a pretty solid pocket (surprise!) and he inexplicably ducked down to avoid a phantom defender, thus forfeiting the whole play. He lifted his head up, saw that he was, in fact still protected, and took off running. For two yards.

Morris steadily shortening Gardner's leash. Last year, it was use in case of emergency. Now, it's deploy if Gardner makes too many mistakes, with "too many" getting lower and lower.

He threw two passes. Two. He went one for two in his last appearance. How is that "shortening Gardners leash"?
September 14th, 2014 at 12:33 AM ^
To borrow a term from Ace, the eye test says he's getting better. His last two outings have been solid, his one INT was more on Darboh than him, Darboh would run the same lazy route and cost Gardner an INT as well. Most importantly he's showing a great poise and feel for the pocket and is reacting well to pressure. I also got to see a lot of reps from him in the Spring Game. Obvious non-contact caveats apply, but frankly he was the better QB that night.
I never said he should start, but it's becoming more and more clear that he's getting good enough to warrant a shot if Gardner falters, even if it's just for a series so Gardner can get coached up.
