I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed:
And on the pedestal these words appear:
'My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away."

You could write 100 page dissertation on Michigan football and it wouldn't be as complete a thought.
Far more apropos for MICH than Walter White.

Don't want to start a thread, but since this website started, michigan has sucked donkey balls.

They did come within a Gary Danielson of playing for the national title in that time.

I don't know what to say. Reminded me of the Alabama game. We didn't show up with any plan to win.

Watched DVR after my kids kicked ass in soccer...and .. Do I need to say?
That was shit.
Good lord. I am drunk. That sucked...I never am critical of coaches...they know way more than I do.
But we have way too much talent for that shit.
I am so fucking pissed
September 6th, 2014 at 11:24 PM ^
Not much in the mood to be positive, but...it's very cool that your kids kicked ass on the pitch today. In your life, the success of your children should outweigh the success of a team of young adults whose behaviors/actions/results/actions you have no way of impacting.
(advice easitly spewed and not easily followed...but anyway)
My kids had very successful weeks in athletics, academics, and music, but I'm still way pissed off. If anyone wants to offer me the same advice I've given I may come off the edge...(not really on the edge but still pissed)
September 6th, 2014 at 11:55 PM ^
It's called a field, not a "pitch". This aint fucking Nottingham.

Take it easy mom, my comment was not directed at you or your offspring.

Totally unprepared. If you're going to play press man, actually hit the guys. Otherwise you're just asking to get beat over the top and slants will murder you. Someday we'll develop another elite pass rusher. Maybe we should attack ND's small corners with jump balls to our giant, super fast, Biletnikoff candidate?
Bonus kudos for keeping our only two offensive weapons to get hurt in meaningless blowout action. That was pretty awesome.
There's theoretically plenty of talent on this team now. It is not being developed and not being schemed into good positions at this point. Which means this staff has failed.
Unfortunately, our AD is an idiot, who would probably get snowed under by a flashy Lane Kiffin type, who would further destroy the program.
September 6th, 2014 at 11:14 PM ^
We had the ball for 6 more minutes, had only 9 fewer yards and still managed to get destroyed by 38 with the four turnovers and 2 missed FG's.
Terrible.
September 6th, 2014 at 11:48 PM ^
But it was 31 points. Pick six was wiped out by a bush league dirty hit/block on Gardner.

We've never NOT won a national championship after getting shut out by Notre Dame!

Sadly, that may be a direct quote from the post game presser. Hell, it will probably be his opening sentence.

Al Borges was better than this...we have regressed from Al Borges...
September 6th, 2014 at 11:19 PM ^
to see Hoke applauding his QB's 3rd interception of the night. I think its important to keep the guys spirits up when you're trailing 31-0 in the 4th Q, not yell at the guys and maybe light a fuking fire under them.

September 6th, 2014 at 11:20 PM ^
Fire Hoke now. Ask Lloyd to coach the remainder of the season. We'll be in a better position to choose among new HC candidates. Oh, and fire Brandon soon too.
September 6th, 2014 at 11:20 PM ^
Then we'll learn a lot about the character of the coaches and the team after laying this egg. No one made a play when they had to and no coach seemed to come up with just the right call when they needed it most.
September 6th, 2014 at 11:21 PM ^
The late hit on DG at the end of the game summed it all up. Nobody went to his aid. Nobody went after the guy. Nobody had his back. Soft. Weak. Pitiful.
September 6th, 2014 at 11:50 PM ^
That was about as bush league as it gets, and there was no reaction by any Michigan player on the field.
September 7th, 2014 at 12:12 AM ^
Reminds me of the fateful M hockey year where Mac Bennett(?) took a cheapshot and no one helped him our or roughed up the offender, Michigan ended up missing the tournament for the first time in 20+ years. Interpret that as you wish
September 7th, 2014 at 12:19 AM ^
that the football team might not make the 4 team college football playoff this year?
September 7th, 2014 at 12:53 AM ^
but that hockey team was later revealed to have a mess of internal issues. Some deadweight players. You might wonder how the interactions in the lockerroom are nowadays

September 6th, 2014 at 11:26 PM ^
Football starts in the trenches, since the dawn of football, up to today and will beyond my years watching.
Do our "lines" suck because our coaches suck at coaching them or because they just aren't very good Collegiate players?
Also, that being said, we showed tonight we didn't have the caliber players/technique necessary on the edges, either. Again, coaching and the fundamentals they've been taught? Or just not good enough?
September 6th, 2014 at 11:51 PM ^
Either explanation is on the coaches.
September 6th, 2014 at 11:22 PM ^
Man I wish Brandon wasn't the AD and one I the Harbaugh's wanted to coach this team. I hate calling for people to lose their job but my god hoke looks lost. The offense looks bad, oline is terrible, 1 playmaker, everyone else just looks sooooooo slow. Offense looks bad, defense looks bad, special teams was horrible. This season goes either north or south from here...coaches better get it figured out.

To much cheering and clapping on the sidelines, patting guys on the ass, laughing, with no headset, or game plan in hand. It's been 4 years and it's beyond old now. Need a X's and O's football coach and I don't care if it's a "Michigan man" or not.
Hoke's a nice fellow. His teams take after him. Wearing short sleeves in the cold doesn't make you tough. Hoke's teams aren't tough and after a while, you gotta look at the man at the top.
September 6th, 2014 at 11:39 PM ^
Dead man clapping.
September 7th, 2014 at 12:08 AM ^
DB will not fire him. He will go down with the ship because he has his guy that "doesn't need a map to get around Ann Arbor". A lot of people didn't believe me when I said it years ago, but the football program is rotten from the top to bottom, and has been for years.
September 7th, 2014 at 11:09 AM ^
...that's the dad's role; that's the position coach's role (and Hoke was an awesome DL coach).
Less of that, more of this:
September 6th, 2014 at 11:24 PM ^
If we had a personnel plan, or offensive or defensive games plans how would we ever know? Our players-all of them- we're outplayed physically and emotionally. Of course this starts with the coaches, but none of our players were in the same league as ND- and they played 19 freshmen!
We were physically beaten and emotionally broken, offensively and defensively.
Our coaches are not getting the job done and we have seriously overrated our players. Even our " stars" sucked and were humiliated.
Its a long season and a very strong record will help erase some of this, but I do not see this team with its lack of development, defensive and offensive weaknesses achieving a record good enough to warrant keeping the staff.
September 6th, 2014 at 11:24 PM ^
Hoke is Bob Davies, Tyrone Willingham and Charlie Weiss combined
September 6th, 2014 at 11:26 PM ^
The OL is a turnstile. Winning or even being competittive is going to be hard when Gardner has 0.8 seconds before an untouched defender is bearing down. With that said, I've never thought that Hoke should be fired in the past. I'm completely sober tonight and all I can think about is how we can get Peppers to stay / attrition to be limited and move on. I think the only way he should go though is if we have someone like Les Miles or better lined up.
September 6th, 2014 at 11:29 PM ^
Is crazy and old. That said, the fact of the matter is it will be very difficult to get someone even close to that stature to come to UM. The program is a smoking crater.
September 6th, 2014 at 11:33 PM ^
Miles is only 5 years older than Hoke. I'll take crazy with a side of better football, please.
