Who cares how the game goes as long as you pull it out in the end. Do you think Bama scraping by last week or Florida State playing a bad OK St. team close did anything to change the perception of the ACC or SEC? No.

Well in reality it's probably been the fifth best conference over the last two years. I wouldn't even have been too proud to have played in one of those strange title games.

Nobody cares about the middle of the pack games, especially when they end up In wins.

Tonight will dictate how the big ten is perceived in the coming weeks

You people act like this conference is the only one that loses to the MAC or FCS teams. Temple destroying Vanderbilt is basically equivalent to Purdue losing to Central Michigan. And ND St. beating Kansas St. last year is like Nebraska playing McNeese state close

Teams like W. Kentucky and N. Illinois are damn good teams that give everyone problems. The fact that Illinois won means that they're not nearly as bad as they were last year. Also, saying that Penn State struggled against Akron by beating them 21-3 is a joke

I watched.  PSU couldn't run the ball at all. Got some yardage late on wildcat when Akron started getting worn down, but it was ugly. Don't see how you can claim they didn't struggle  Akron had some key drops in the game, and late they got a questionable spot when they were only down 11 and in PSU territory. Could have made it interesting.  PSU never looked in danger of losing the game but they didn't not look good.   Maybe chalk it up to fatigue from the Ireland trip.

From about the early-ish nineties until the late 2000s, the Big Ten was pretty solid: Michigan, OSU, Penn State, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Purdue were all pretty good most years, plus teams like Northwestern, Illinois, and Minnesota would occasionally rise up. So it hasn't always been this bad.

Likely 13-0 gets us in, but 12-1 in a weak B1G does not.

1. Sec champ

2. B12 champ

3. PAC-12 champ

4. ACC champ, 1 loss sec team, or a 1 loss michigan? It's a toss up. That's the issue, especially because ESPN keeps preaching the the B1G is terrible and our teams all struggle against even average out of conference opponents.

First the Big 10 overall sucks.  it makes it sadder we are struggling in this conference.

Second, the Big 10 right now would fall 0-3 to the MAC if nothing changes.  That is sad.

Third, no one really cares about the bottom 2/3rds of a conference. I don't judge the SEC on Vanderbilt or Ole Miss or (currently) Tennessee.  If the top 5 teams in the Big 10 punched other Big 5 conference teams in the mouth 70% of the time we'd be considered a top conference.  We don't.  So it is up to us, OSU, PSU, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and yes MSU for now to do the job.  If we had 4 of those teams rolling at once it wouldnt matter what Northwestern Iowa Illinois did.

But Wisconsin can't win a big game outside the conference. PSU and UM have been lost in the wilderness and nebraska loses 4 games every year.  So these things need to change or perception won't.
