Slightly Official- ND 5 are Out
Comparisons:
Davaris Daniels- Devin Funchess
By far their best returning receiver.
Ishaq Williams- Frank Clark
Flashes of brilliance but has yet to put it together.
KeiVarae Russel- Ray Taylor/Blake Countess
Their best returning corner and first round talent.
These are big losses no matter how they sell it. If we don't put up 35 on them tomorrow, It'll be an act of God.
Go Blue!

If they haven't had their hearings yet, they pretty much couldn't be re-instated yet. Figured we would hear when they had their hearings.
September 5th, 2014 at 7:30 PM ^
"They are really good student athletes and we held them out for the right reasons. They are all cleared to play. It's a shame that we didn't have our best players on the field; the outcome would have been different."
One game suspension served and no one knows they were punished. "ND is clean" will be another in the long list of lies propagated by this fan base and NBC/ESPN.
September 5th, 2014 at 7:52 PM ^
Who cares as long as we beat thier ass.
Let them get their redemption against USC.
September 5th, 2014 at 9:39 PM ^
all your would ofs and could ofs, for good or ill.
September 5th, 2014 at 6:52 PM ^
I really hope we execute tomorrow.
September 5th, 2014 at 7:13 PM ^
It's a matter of toughness
September 5th, 2014 at 7:25 PM ^
"I really hope we execute Notre Dame tomorrow."
Fixed it.
September 5th, 2014 at 7:37 PM ^
I second that emotion. I am also in favor of executing Notre Dame.
September 5th, 2014 at 10:43 PM ^
Reporter: "Coach how do feel about your teams execution?"
Coach John McKay:"I'm in favor of it."
September 5th, 2014 at 6:54 PM ^
If we had a proven offensive line, I'd feel as confident as I've ever felt in a UM-ND game.
September 5th, 2014 at 7:02 PM ^
It seems like every time I'm confident going into a ND game, we lose.

Agree. Young D-line, undersized linebackers, two unproven safeties, and missing their top CB...
As they chant in Manchester, attack attack attack.
September 5th, 2014 at 6:57 PM ^
Kind of crazy, I'm actually a bit more worries about JMFR at MLB and our front four containing Golson than I am about our OLine at this point.

where JMFR is one of the biggest question marks on D.
WHAT HORRIBLE ALTERNATE DIMENSION IS THIS
September 5th, 2014 at 9:30 PM ^
on Golson. Don't worry about anyone but him. That would keep the treat of a long run in check. After 7 bone crushing tackles, Golson hesitates in the pocket and BANG - it's Frank Clark in his rib cage.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:29 AM ^
Frank Clark in their base.
September 5th, 2014 at 7:00 PM ^
Anyone have a Brian Kelly color chart handy for when he found out about this foot dragging by the administration?
September 5th, 2014 at 7:02 PM ^
I had no idea that Russel was projected to the first round. I guess I might have underestimated him.
September 5th, 2014 at 7:26 PM ^
IMO Russell would be their biggest loss since he's their best shot at managing Funchess in single coverage. Without Russell they absolutely have to double up on Funchess, and the two they have to do it are <6 feet. So Funchess could still have a big day, and the rest of our receivers could too.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:49 AM ^
if (and when) they have to double Funchess, that could open up Chesson for some big plays. However, I think that actually may open up some nice quick yards for Fleet and Canteen if we can get a safety going to the sidelines with his initial step.
September 5th, 2014 at 7:04 PM ^
You know how people always say things like, "I hope those guys play. I want to be them at 100% so there are no excuses."
Bullshit. I'll never root for someone to get injured, but damnit if something like this increases our chances of winning, I'm not going to say I'm upset about it
September 5th, 2014 at 7:19 PM ^
Agreed! I'm glad Braxton is out and I hope these guys are out. Shit happens! If they wanted to be at full strength then they shouldn't have jacked up.
September 5th, 2014 at 7:38 PM ^
I wouldn't say I'm glad Braxton is out, or any other injured player, but I'll gladly watch my team take advantage of his and anyone else's absence. Unless they pull a Dawson, then I'll laugh gleefully.
September 5th, 2014 at 8:51 PM ^
Yeah, now that you mention it, ND is gonna be starting some weird guys tomorrow.
September 5th, 2014 at 8:25 PM ^
Braxton being out sucks because he was injured, which isn't something I want to see. Notre Dame having a bunch of goobers who couldn't finish their assignments, or who couldn't keep the people who finished their assignments under the radar, is the type of self-inflicted wounds I'm fine seeing.
September 5th, 2014 at 8:05 PM ^
Agreed. Depth is a part of football. injuries, suspensions and other kinds of absences are all part of the game, and a big part of putting together a great football team is having enough quality depth to overcome them when they happen. This has happened to us on numerous occasions, and I promise out opponents didn't feel bad about beating us shorthanded.
September 5th, 2014 at 8:39 PM ^
Yup, don't care if ND has to start all walk-ons. A W is still a W in my book
September 5th, 2014 at 7:05 PM ^
Slightly official huh? I'll believe that are not playing when the game is over

Never believing something is going to happen in life until after it's happened.

No I just wouldn't put it beyond Kelly

Is 12 levels over Kelly's pay grade. It's not up to him, at all.
September 5th, 2014 at 7:55 PM ^
12 levels over Kelly's pay grade is Warren Buffett.
He says: "The hell with Notre Dame".
September 5th, 2014 at 8:06 PM ^
Does he? Because that would be cool. We know for sure that Charlie Munger does, and if Buffett is 12 levels above Kelly, Munger is 11.
September 6th, 2014 at 12:16 AM ^
they're hoping he doesn't fire THEM
September 5th, 2014 at 9:42 PM ^
At this point it seems like Kelly has been trying to keep up the illusion that these guys may play just to keep Michigan guessing. Your point is the other possibility, but it really doesn't look like they'll play. Either way I think Michigan pulls out this win.
September 5th, 2014 at 7:08 PM ^
All I know is after we spank some irish ass this game is permanently on my the DVR.
September 5th, 2014 at 7:14 PM ^
Man, this has been a pretty hamfisted handling of the situation by ND. The investigation was concluded last week and Monday, it sounded like they were going to rule one way or the other but 4 days without a peep. The ND fans are PISSED, and I actually don't really blame them.
September 5th, 2014 at 8:53 PM ^
He played in their BB game on December 21 and was dismissed from school the next day. His case sounded very similar, an academic matter involving a poor decision. Perhaps the difference was that he simply admitted responsibility.
There is plenty to dislike about Notre Dame, but I'll give them credit for caring about their athletes getting an education.
September 5th, 2014 at 7:21 PM ^
for the season.

It helps our chances lots.

Hookers?
September 5th, 2014 at 8:07 PM ^
Hopefully they'll use the time to study for their classes.
September 5th, 2014 at 7:59 PM ^
Are Countess and Taylor first round talents?
September 5th, 2014 at 8:11 PM ^
Negative. They are in the conversation for All-B1G though.
September 5th, 2014 at 8:09 PM ^
I have a feeling that if we beat them somewhat comfortably or worse, the announcers will be handing out back handed compliments all game, basically inferring that if the 5 weren't suspended, we'd be losing.
September 5th, 2014 at 8:28 PM ^
I'm cool with that. As long as we win tomorrow I'll be happy.
