Best location for Michigan friendly seats at ND?

Dear mgoblog community,

 

I'm strongly considering stub hubbing one ticket to the game this Saturday in South Bend, as my son is going as a guest of a family of Notre Dame friends and sitting WITH THEM in the ND section.

I sat with them a couple years ago, and while they're cool, the surrounding fans...

...not so much.

 

So if I were to buy a single ticket for me, what sections are best in terms of Michigan company?

Is money no option or at least within reason? It's going to be insanely expensive anywhere. I would consider the best sight lines for the price at this point since I can't imagine you'll have a huge amount of options at a fair price.

I'll be there with a throng of ND alums (I would complain but they actually got me a ticket through the association). I am still wondering why I am spending so much money to fly out there and subject myself to being around Domers all day, especially with miserable memories of 2012, but it's too late now. A win will make it all worth it.

I wouldn't say money is NO object, but it's not too bad a drive for me so travel and lodging costs won't be there very much except gas/parking.

And the stadium is small enough that the sight lines are adequate for me pretty much everywhere.

I just want good company.  The last time I was there, I was surrounded by ND fans, and, although they MOSTLY were good-natured, if I'm going to be there without anyone I know, I want to be surrounded by maize and blue.  I want to cheer and high five with everyone around me, and to be the only one cheering when things go great for Michigan surrounded by golden domers would make me look like I'm looking for a fight when I just want to be enthusiastic about the game.

 

Hence looking for a good section of wolverine faithful.

ND isn't that bad for opposing fans, comparatively speaking. You'll probably be alright anywhere, as long as you're not a total asshole.

Really, that's a rule of thumb for any away game, save maybe OSU and MSU. And even then. If you're not an asshole, if you can be good-natured and non-combative, you're going to be fine.

and you really have nothing to worry about if you're not an ass. I would suggest getting seats below the upper level, somewhere around 30-40 rows up, towards the middle of the field on either sideline. Faculty or players parents usually sit around there and they're very amicable. I'd avoid endzones, as the less-desirable portion of the fanbase usually ends up around those parts and that's where the heckling can occur.

Yeah, I understand.  I think it's because I'm a little apprehensive about going solo.  And I don't want to be a combative asshole, but I DO want to cheer when things go Michigan's way.

 

And sometimes I've found that when a lone fan wearing his team's colors in a sea of opposition is the ONLY person cheering in that section (no matter which team or which stadium), there are some who miscontrue that as a person looking for trouble.

 

But I just want to watch a good game that Michigan wins and be able to cheer about it freely in the moment surrounded by others who feel likewise.  It makes it a lot more fun.  I'm not there to rub anyone's nose in it, but there to enjoy the win(!) with my fellows of UM nation!

 

I'll definitely avoid the endzone.

 

What sections correspond to rows 30-40, thirty to thiry yard lines, below upper level (so I guess main level?)?

be safe bets, just expect it to be tamer the further you go towards the middle. Seat in sections 23-27 might be ok as well. If I recall correctly, at the last Michigan game, a good portion of our fanbase was in the 101-103 area but I don't know if that has changed this time.

You should have no problem cheering, really. I mean as long as you're cheering for Michigan without swearing like crazy or calling for injuries for ND players or something like that you'll have nothing to worry about. As long as you're respectful, you really have nothing to worry about. Sure, someone might say something, and people have said things to me in the past, but they usually shut up after a while and those times are rare.

Enjoy the game, I won't be able to make it this year, but you'll have a good time.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm worried that ticket sales might be a no-no on the site, so I'm NOT going to respond to offers officially on this thread.  I just want advice on ticket GEOGRAPHY, and don't want this website to get in trouble for ticket brokering (unless it's not an issue at all.  Mods?)

Going with a ND buddy....Section 9, I believe he told me that is ND alum section. Lord help me, but dammit the siteline looks great and I'm right behind our bench.

Also bad news I am 0-2 for road games including the 2008 loss in South Bend. I hope my bad luck streak is broken.

As far as area's go I was in front of the press box in 08 and it wasn't a bad seat at all.

I think the south end zone is relatively safe.  I sat in section 117 a few years ago and had no issues at all.  The only thing I disliked about the place is their very limited concessions choices.  Couldn't figure out why, on my walk to the staduim, EVERYONE tailgating was cooking major food.  Then I got inside the staduim and figured it out.

If I recall correctly, the M section seemed to be in the 114 - 120ish range on this seating chart (opposite endzone as touchdown jesus).  I'll be up in 116.

is with Michigan alumni in a sports bar somewhere. Where I live, unlike most other games, there are always a few domers that leech into the place. We tolerate them, barely.

In 2012 we were in the southeast corner - I think it was 118.  If you can get in I wouldn't worry too much about where the seats are.  It isn't like going to Ohio.

I'm going to the game with some friends who are all ND fans. Unfortunately each couple ended up getting tickets in different sections. I'll be sitting in Section 5 Row 41. I figure with it being on the visitor side it was the best bet. I'm told that other than some general smack talk, there's nothing to worry about. Either way, I figure if I treat them the same way they treat me, I should be fine.

You'll be amongst more of your brethren in Sections 114-116, although like others have said you are not likely to be bothered much except for random drunk arses.
