No one will be able to shut down Funchess.

Not without opening up something else, anyway. I think Nuss knows what he has (not a TE) and it's clear from this game he's gonna use him all over the field to keep the defense in a bind.

but not with just one man. Either he'll be open or they'll double him and something else will be open.

I was impressed by the guy who tackled Funchess on the jump. He could've gotten kicked in the head, legs could've slipped through, and Funchess' legs were moving fast so they couldn't have been easy to grab. He somehow got both arms on 'em and clung.
I mean, overall they were completely outclassed, but on a few occasions they made some plays.
One thing I don't get about the pointing. . . the O-line is facing the opposite direction. Who's looking? Is it for self-reference? Or is it to let the defense know they've been figured out?

Agree ... hat tip to Appalachian State for showing up and playing hard.
Re: the pointing ... I'm guessing it's a bit of self-reference, a bit for the RBs and WRs, and a bit to signal to the D.

These pics make it look like the "maize" on the helmet wings, jersey numbers, and pants pretty much matched. Which has not always been the case (I recall games in '12 where the helmet wings, helmet numbers, jersey numbers, and pants each looked like a different color).
Tints can always look different in different pics/video. Can anyone at the game confirm . . . do things finally match?

Was it subtle, or was it cheezy like it sometimes has been in the past?
You would thing a program like Michigan would be able to dictate the specific colors to the helmet and uni suppliers, like it does for everything else.

That's a good point, the photos must tint them a little differently, because the maize on the helmet is definitely different than the pants. The helmet is darker, while the pants are definitely brighter. I didn't pay as close of attention to the jersey numbers.

The key to this season is more pointing

HA! It looks like Funchess is just sitting on that dudes head while being 10 feet in the air.

Love the Gardner "MIKE" picture ... it bristles with football energy.

Someone should photoshop skis on Funchess in the 3rd picture, looks like he's jumping a mogul

The only thing wrong with Devin Funchess is that his name is a step below Simms McElfresh and Bobo Beathard. Those are serious football names!
But looking through the photos of Devin - my God does he have some serious hops. Besides being freakishly tall, he has a world class vertical.

Funchess reminded me of Braylon the way he went up and snatched the football for his 3rd TD.
Go Blue!
Beat the Irish!

I just want to say, awesome job to the photographers. There are some spectacular shots in these galleries and looking through helps keep me hyped up during the week!
The shot of Funchess looking to the side with the stadium seats reflected in his helmet, the shot of an App State defender whiffing a tackle on Green, the shot of Funchess leaping over the defender while Chesson looks on, the one of Charlton, Hurst and Morgan celebrating, the unbelievable Gardner stiffarm...fantastic.
A+
