best to him in his recovery.

I never know how to react when I see a proper, nice, positive comment on a story like this. Especially the first comment. I'm always expecting the worst.

That sucks. Poor kid.
August 26th, 2014 at 9:29 AM ^
Oh no....that absolutely sucks, he's going to miss his senior year.

Poop.

Bummer this means he will probably be forced to take a redshirt as well unless he is 100% recovered by the time fall camp starts next year. Was he expected to play safety or corner?
August 26th, 2014 at 9:33 AM ^
I would think he's more of a corner, but Magnus would have a better idea than most.
August 26th, 2014 at 9:34 AM ^
Think he was going to be one of those put him at nickel, see how he does and if not move him to safety like they did Dymonte. Everything I heard was he was a corner, but that obviously could change.
August 26th, 2014 at 10:14 AM ^
That's a full year away now and unless the injury is really bad, he should be 100% I'd think. Either way, let's hope for the speediest recovery possible for Garrett.

With our CB depth I wouldn't have expected him to start till his 2nd or 3rd year so he should have plenty of time to recover.

Well, there goes my plan to go see a St. Christopher's game this season...
August 26th, 2014 at 9:32 AM ^
Better to happen now as opposed to late in the season. Was he planning on enrolling early? Would be good for him to get with the U-M trainers from Jan-May for rehabbing.
August 26th, 2014 at 10:22 AM ^
Per Steve at 247, his HS doesn't allow students to leave early for purposes of enrolling early in college.

It's also an extremely expensive private school, so maybe the school just wants to make sure they get that extra semester of tuition.

According to this 247 article, his high school doesn't allow its students to leave early for early enrollment. He's taking quite the positive approach to his rehab:
"We can start aggressively rehabbing a week or so after the surgery," he said. "I'll be doing that a ton. I'm getting ready to meet with my speed training coach as well. I plan to get on a stricter diet than normal so I can stay in peak shape while recovering. We're going to do some pool stuff and a lot of upper body weight training and conditioning during the period as well. My goal is to come back stronger than I was before the injury."

What a great attitude. Kid's less worried about him than I am.
August 26th, 2014 at 11:40 AM ^
Yeah, every quote I've read from him throughout the recruiting process--and every quote from recruiting analysts covering him--indicates that he has the right frame of mind to maximize his talent.

I don't think he would agree that this is better timing. No kid wants to miss his senior season completely. Happened to my son last year and he was devastated.
August 26th, 2014 at 9:33 AM ^
It has to be awful to miss your senior season of high school football. I suppose the silver lining is that he'll have a full year to recover before next season, and he'll be able to ease into a role here (or even redshirt if needed). With Countess, Lewis, Stribling, and Peppers, we will have good depth at corner for Taylor's freshman year, then playing time will start to open up when he's a sophomore and two years removed from his injury.

Morris, Kugler, Fox, and now Taylor. It seems as if being a senior committed to Michigan is bad for your health.

And Harris too.

Someone needs to make these poor guys a "Never Forget" -esque type of picture. Maybe title it "Remember the Fallen"?

They are doing amazing things with ACL rehabs these days. He will be ready to go by fall camp. Good luck young man, quick recovery.

They are doing amazing things with ACL recovery, but it seems like Michigan has done more than its fair share in contributing to research subjects in that department. Maybe this shows greater efficiency in the Michigan program--getting the ACL tears out of the way in high school before the kids even hit campus....

In all seriousness though, it stinks for the kid. I wish him a speedy recovery.

That's too bad. Here's hoping he quickly bounces back.

August 26th, 2014 at 9:44 AM ^
The worst. Best of luck to him in recovery. You can fully bounce back from an ACL tear, obviously, so I hope he's not too down about it.
